I reject your reality and substitue my own.  This is a more satisfying ending with a better, and simple explanation for the reapers.  It follows the basic idea of the true ending of the game.  Also keep in mind that this is the best possible ending based on me having the highest possible readiness and the choices I made in game.

Wall of text warning:
(edit; sorry for the poor formating.  It didn't copy paste well from word.)

On the rim of the crater surrounding the portal to the
Citadel;

                The remnants
of Hammer pull into view all the edge of the shallow slope leading down to the
portal.  Shepard can be seen standing in
the center, his current and former crew scattered amongst the mixed species
forces.  Shepard’s voice echoes out
through the com.

                “This
is it.  This is what we have bled and
died for.  We make it through the portal
or die trying.  Stay sharp we don’t know
what is on the other side.  Move out!”

                A
soldier behind Shepard gasps.

                “No!  Reaper inbound!”

The silhouette of a large reaper
can be seen descending from space behind the portal the glow from its cannon
shines out from under its exoskeleton as it touches down.  Shepard latches onto the back of a mako as it
passes.

“Go go go!”

The mako speeds forward other tanks
visible in the peripherals.  The reaper
opens fire, the bright red beam cutting through a mako to the right of
shepard.  Debris from the tank peppers
Shepard as he latchs onto the back harder.
A second beam cuts across to his left taking 2 or more tanks with
it.  Shepard is halfway to the portal,
and the beam fires a third time.  The blast
cuts directly in front Shepard’s mako.
The tank pitches forward violently as it hits the patch of shredded
earth, catapulting Shepard forward in a low arc.  He tucks and rolls as he lands, skidding to a
stop on his back.  Sturggling from the
impact, he picks himself up and begins sprinting toward the portal.  Through luck or the reapers attention not
settling on the loan man now in front of the push, Shepard makes it almost to
the portal before the beam turns on him again.
The light from the portal almost washes out the flare of the red beam
charging.  He is almost there.  Fifteen feet, ten feet, the beam fires and
Shepard dives for the blue pillar of light.
Blue and red mix in a hue of purple and the world goes dark.

Shepard comes to in a room full of
death and decay.  Keepers slowly move
around the fringes moving over the bodies of the dead.  Shepard stands and looks around before using
the com.

“Anyone else make it through?”

Anderson’s voice resounds in the
emptiness.

“That you Shepard?  Seems like we were the only ones that made it
through.”

“Where are you Anderson?”

“In a room filled with bodies.  It’s a grizzly sight.”

“Same here.  I think I see a light at the end of this
chamber.  We need to find a control to
open the Citadel.”

“I see the same.  I’ll try to find you in the next area.”

Shepard moves forward through the
darkness, the faint light in the distance growing larger as he gets
closer.  Shepard makes his way out of the
darkness and into a chamber with a single console on one side.  Earth can be seen burning through a window to
the left and Anderson is moving out from the right.

“This is Admiral Hackett.  Can anyone hear me on the Citadel.”

“This is Shepard.  I am going to see if I can open the Citadel.”

“We will start to move the Crucible
into place.”

The console shines to life as
Shepard and Anderson approach.  Anderson
starts to work on the console while Shepard scans the room.  A short time later a large mechanical thunk
rings through the Citadel and the arms begin to open.

“There that should do it.”

“This is Hackett.  We see the Citadel opening and we are moving
the Crucible into place now.”

The Crucible moves into place and
connects with the Citadel.  A jarring
vibration moves through the Citadel as the two connect.  Hackett’s voice once again sounds over the
com.

“Move the fleet in to protect the
Citadel.  The Crucible needs to charge
before it can fire.”

The voice of a crewmember sounds
from behind Hackett.

“Looks like we have a reaper moving
to intercept the Citadel sir. It’s Harbinger.”

An all too familiar voice sounds
behind Shepard and Anderson.

“Shepard!  Glad you could make it, but I really can’t
let you destroy the reapers.  I need them
to ensure humanities dominance in the galaxy.”

Shepard turns to see an obviously
reaper tech enhanced Illusive man holding a small pistol.

“You’re mad.  There is no way to control the reapers.  Just listen to yourself.  You are playing with powers you don’t
understand.”

“You are the one who doesn’t understand.  Humanity has been given a chance to ascend to
the most powerful civilization in the history of the galaxy, and I won’t let
you stand in my way.”

The Illusive mans mechanical eyes
rotate and a slight blue hue shines from behind the circuitry.  Shepard and Anderson both turn and start to
raise their weapons at each other.  A
look of horror crosses Anderson’s face.

“Shepard, I can’t control this!”

“You see Shepard.  I can control the reaper tech, and you.”

“Controling the technology and
controlling a reaper are too different things.
You want to gamble all of humanity on the chance you are right?  Let me fire the crucible and we can end this
for sure.  Think of cost of failure.”

“I… I don’t think I can do that
Shepard.”

“But you aren’t sure.  You aren’t controlling the reapers.  They are controlling you.  Just listen to yourself.”

“You… maybe… AHHHHH!!!”

The Illusive man screams and the
pistol falls to the ground.  A familiar
bright yellow light shines out from his sockets and a deep voice resonates
through the chamber.

                “Assuming
direct control.”

                “Harbinger!”

                “This
has gone on long enough Shepard.  We will
not be stopped.  The cycle must continue.”

                “But
why?  What started all of this?”

                “We exist
as a necessity.  Entropy destroys
everything in the universe.  Without
direct intervention chaos will eventually destroy everything.  We were designed to reverse that
entropy.  Organic life, if left
unchecked, will eventually lead to its own destruction.  My creators realized this, and created a
solution to help the organic races ascend back into order.  My creators discovered that a cycle exists in
the galaxy.  Organic life evolves and
develops through entropy.  As this
entropy continues, your species will eventually disappear from the galaxy and
new organic life will take your place.
My creators determined the average life span of a sentient species in
the galaxy before they disappear through chaos is approximately 75,000
years.  To avoid losing a sentient
species, the galaxy is harvested every 50,000 years this ensures that no
sentient species will be lost to entropy.”

                “What
if we don’t want to be saved?  What if we
want to live out our existence and determine our own fate.”

                “That
is irrelevant the loss of your species is unacceptable.”

                “But
you aren’t saving our species.  You are
only taking our genetic code.  That isn’t
what makes a person human.  Our culture,
our beliefs and our ideals are what make our civilization unique.  We are more than just what we are made
of.  We have proven that by standing together
as a galactic society to tell you we will not be part of your solution.  Humans, Asari, Turian, Quarian, Geth,
Salarian, and Krogan are one civilization now.
We will not be part of your solution.
We will determine our own fate!”

                “You
have no choice in the matter.  You will
be added to the reapers.”

                The Illusive
man’s body convulses as the reaper tech inside him begins to change.  His body contorts into a grotesque arachnid
like shape.  Nothing human remains in his
form except for his face with glowing yellow eyes.  Biotic blasts begin to ripple out from this
nightmarish figure, and particle beams begin to pulse from its eyes.  Shepard dives for cover as the blasts hits
between him and Anderson.  Anderson skids
over next to the window and lies motionless.
Shepard can’t tell if he is dead or unconscious and has no time to
check.  The fight drags on, Shepard desperately
darting from cover to cover around the edge of the circular room.  The creatures defenses eventually fall and
Shepard delivers a killing blow with his omni blade.  Stabbing through the face of the Illusive
man.  The creature explodes, shearing off
parts of Shepards armor and bouncing him across the room to land next to
Anderson.  Blood trickles down his face
and arms.  Outside the window, Shepard
can see Harbinger writhing from the destruction of its avatar.  The fleet moves in on the weakened reaper
making quick work of it.  The explosion
fades and Shepard starts to pass out when a soft moan next to him brings him
back to consciousness.  Anderson pushes
himself up and looks over at Shepard.

                “Shepard!
Are you ok?”

                Anderson
crawls over and helps Shepard up off the floor.
The two lean back against a step.
Both look out over the war scarred Earth below.

                “I’ve
felt better.  Doesn’t look like we saved
much from up here does it?”

                “We
saved enough Shepard.  We saved what we could…”

Admiral Hackett’s voice sounds over the com.

                “The
Crucible is charges, preparing to fire.”

A pop of energy starts at the
center of the citadel.  A red wave of
energy begins to cascade outward.  As the
energy hits the reapers, their systems begin to overload.  The advanced technology and energy powering
them reacts and ignites causing them to writhe as if in pain.   As the
wave passes each reaper gives one final death throw before shattering in an explosion.  Thousands of these follow in the wake of the
energy wave filling the sky with a bright display of fireworks.

About a year later:

Anderson, Ashley, and James can be
seen standing in front of Big Ben in London.
Construction is apparent, but most of the city is still in ruins.  The three can be seen overseeing charts and
giving out orders for the reconstruction.

On the moon overlooking Palaven,
Garrus is seen organizing the reconstruction of his home world with the
Primark.

Liara is on Thessia rebuilding the
Asari temple.

Shepards other crew members can be
seen going about their lives helping their cultures rebuild.

The Salarian home world was
decimated, the combined fleets not making it in time to save them with the
combined Citadel Crucible weapon.  The
united races of the galaxy are seen picking through the debris searching for
survivors and helping who they can.

A dark haired Quarian woman stands
outside a domed house on a cliff on Rannoch.
She is looking away, out over the ocean.
In the distance, several building can be seen being built.  Quarian and Geth workers scurry about on the
scaffolding.  Shepard comes out of the
house with a slight limp and puts his arm around the woman.  She nestles her head softly into his shoulder
and the two continue to look out into the setting sun.

Anyone who makes it this far, thank you and tell me what you think.  As for the choices in game, I went with curing the genophage and pissed off the Salarians.  No help from them in the final battle means the fleet would have taken the citadel to the homeworlds of the present races.  This would change based on choices made.  With lower levels of readiness, you would lose entire fleets in the final assault.  Not enough reinforcments to pull the reaper off your forces after it destroys the portal in the final push would result in some or even all of your former crew dieing.  Not enough readiness also means you wont make it to the various homeworlds in time even if you had their support.  Low enough and you would even lose Earth and possibly even the whole fight.  The readiness level also determines if Anderson and Sheppard die at the end.  Hope you enjoyed.

The ending for my Shepard: After persuading TIM several times during the game, he doesn't make Shepard shoot Anderson and TIM kills himself. After that, Anderson doesn't die and they both sit watching Earth on the horizon while a cutscene plays out showing the Crucible working and the Reapers being destroyed. Shepard then faints from his wounds, but later wakes up on a hospital bed with Liara on his side.

Then an epilogue sequence follows, like in DAO but in cutscenes instead of simple images, showing the fate of each main character and each race, ending with an old Shepard surrounded by little blue children with Liara on his side.

I really dug you story, and as a Talimancer also loved the ending. I gotta say Harbinger taking control of TIM was pretty f'n solid and would have made for a great boss battle.

It would be my Shepard and Kelly Chambers in an ending befitting the last scene of a Roger Moore-era Bond film.

"My God! What's Shepard doing???"

"It appears he is attempting re-entry, sir."

well it looks like my thread is gone somewhere so that is "my" canon ending :D

Some preinfos before i start telling you "my-canon-ending". my team is Garrus and Tali and here are standing in front of this "beaming-thing" which is sending the bodys to the citadel. my shepi is a female. she was full para through all games. and made peace between the geth and the quarians. every former "companion" is alive...well except kaiden so let us star writing^^

shepi: ok, this is it. we didnt came this far to fail now. no "hero-action" we getting out alive.
garrus: i will remember you on that in....lets say 2 min?
tali: you know what she means.
shepi: ok then lets go.
As they step through the beam they find themself in the "dead-corridor"
tali: oh my...
garrus: you are right, somebody should sue the interior architect
tali: garrus!
garrus: what? the illumination is horrible.
shepi: dont let your guards down and garrus, i might have to punch you later for that.
garrus: i didnt do anything
shepi: ....
garrus: alright, sorry.....
tali: Movement!
shepi: it is just a keeper...i dont even know what they are doing here...and i dont want to.
the next room is white and bright. nothing is in it besides one console. as soon as shepi comes closer a figure appears.
figure: Ksdi's 's Hisi Los'jol ks. Lasjorn 'tras.
garrus: it looks like the drink last night was stronger then i though.
tali: i didnt understood a word too.
figure: (mechanical voice) synchronise language....please standby.
tali: what does it do?
shepi: i have know idea.
garrus: neither do i.....
figure: synchronise complete. welcome.
shepi: what.....who are you?
the figure now looks like a human.
figure: to comfort you i will know appear as a human. i am a Tsjal. we were the creators of the, as you call them, reapers.
shepi: what do you mean "as you call them" and why did you create a species as hostile as them?
figure: through time, the "reapers" had many names. we called them "Jk'ols" what means slave in your language.
shepi: slaves...are you kidding me?
tali: they are slaves...how can that be?
garrus:..i think they have been slaves...
figure: correct. the first "reapers" were tools. some were smal, some were as big as ,what you call, a house.
tali: what happened?
figure; according to my timestamp 67 million years ago, a devastating electromagnetic storm hit the homeplanet. my people where obliterated. through our exploit of the resources the air was poisend, and with the airvents gone it was only a matter of hours. the ai controlling the "reapers" did what it always did. keeping the order. but through an error in the main system it didnt longer know what is order or chaos. it asumed everything that is not order must be chaos and as the ai know "itself" is order so in return everthing else must be chaos.
garrus: but that doesnt explain why they have space ships?
figure: to keep the order beyond the borders the ai need it to go in space. my people where able to travel faster then light and our homeplanet had the biggest fleet of all time and space. gladly just a small part of them where at the homeplanet at this time, and the damage was little from the storm. soon after the fleet was repaired the ai began to attack. our military didnt had a chance. somehow the reapers know our emergency frequency code and know where our fleet was. the "reapers" attacked the planets with the lowest defences first and when your military arrived the attacked a nother planet and so our forces where split. more and more ships where lost to an..after our fleet was destroyed the "reapers" began to take the ships to the home planet and repaired them. but it took some time the repair the biggest fleet ever known. our last hope was this building. we builded the citadel with a failsave. but we didnt had a chance to
finish it. you are the first beeings who ever made it this far. you even build the final part for the fail save.
garrus: the biggest fleet ever known? how long did that take to repair them?
figure:...50.000 years.
shepi: that explains something....
figure: after the ai had finished repairing it began to look for new chaos in the galaxie. if it found one it did what the ai was programed for. bring order to the chaos.
tali: what happend to your people?
figure: the war took 1 million years. there where just a handful of us left. so we took off to a nother galaxie.
garrus: so you are not even from this galaxie?
figure: that is correct.
tali: whait whait whait....where did your people go........how long was it?
figure: according to the timestamps just one ship made it. but it crashed on the planet you call "earth"
shepi: when was that?
figure:...65 million years ago.
shepi: did they survived?
figure:....unkown.
shepi:....well we can talk later....because know i have a million questions but we have to stop the reapers first.
figure: agreed. on that console is the failsave. it has to be activated manualy. it is a closed circle. otherwise i would have been able to activate it.
shepi: what happens then?
figure: the failsave will send a virus to the "reapers" it will destroy every chip and the link to the ai will be lost. so the "reapers" die.
garrus: but it will take a lot of energy to transmit this virus.
figure: every "reapers" is connected to any. the virus will be spread within minutes through the galaxie.
shepi: ok..lets do this.
shepis is doing what the figure is helling her.
figure: it just takes a few moments till the virus is send. i want to thank you. we never wanted what happened. the blood of uncountable many species are on our hands.
mechanical voice: error not enough energy.
figure: looks like i can still be repay something.
tali: you can do that?
figure: yes. because i am not an ai. a am a living mind. connected to the citadel millions of years ago.
shepi: what will happened to the citadel when you are gone?
figure: nothing, i was never in important systems anyway. but i was able to watch. every "unknown" cameramovement was me. waiting for the day somebody would free the universe from the "reapers". goo oo oodd bbb bb byy... .. ...
mechanical voice: upload complet. sending virus now....
shepi: somebody should call joker...we might need a ride.

back on earth. a reaper stands in front of andesons hq charging the beam. wrex and anderson are behind a peace of concrete.
anderson: do you think the concrete will hold
wrex: yes
anderson:..... are you lying?
wrex: yes. how about we give him hell....we are going to die anyway.
anderson: agreed.
they turn to the reaper but he is standing there. the beam seems to be offline. no movement whatsoever.
wres: is it sleeping?
anderson: i dont think they sleep.
the reaper is falling to the side. other reapers in the background are falling too.
wrex: i think she did it....
he screams
wrex: do you hear me shepard, you did it!!
a solider runs to anders
solider: reports are coming in, all over the world... reapars are.....just ...well it seems they are just dying where they stand.
we see someplanets where people are dancing on the dead reapers. we see the normandy landing. thousands of people dancing and cheering for the crew. all sort of species are there. and all are celebrating the victory.
admiral hackett and anderson are walking to the normandy. shepard jumps out and the crowed cheers even more.
hackett: well done, admiral shepard.
shepi: i think it is still commander? and...aren't there some ranks between?
hackett: after all you have done, not only for humanity, for the galaxy, i think that a promotion to admiral is about time, dont you think anderson.
anderson: you bet your ass. well done admiral.
shepi: if you say so. then there is still one thing to do.
anderson: and what is that?
shepi hugs anderson and hackett
shepi: we did it.
anderson: no. you did it.
*it fades out*

My first post, and probably my favorite:

EternalAmbiguity wrote...

Apologies for wierdness; I tried to paste from Word and failed epically.

The Reapers cannot be defeated
by traditional means. It took everything the combined species had to kill
Sovereign, along with it being partially incapacitated. Thus, destroying all
the Reapers will take more...

For the sake of space, Shepard is only a male.

Shepard raced down the hallway, not worried about the noise he was making; the bizarre moans of the husks
covered his footsteps. As a husk suddenly popped up just in front of him, he
quickly drew his Claymore and blasted it to bits. He was nearly there. He
turned a corner.

About twenty husks, human batarian and krogan, were stumbling into each other. As he came into view,
however, they turned with a single purpose. Shepard was glad they couldn't
shoot. He quickly lobbed a grenade through the air, pulling out his assault
rifle as well. Aiming carefully, he took out ten of the husks through these
methods alone. Two krogan husks and eight batarian husks remained.

He kept shooting, but they kept coming. Backpedalling around the corner, he tossed another grenade. A moment
later the two krogan husks turned the corner to see...nothing. A moment later,
both of them fell as Claymore shots split their innards. Shepard deactivated
his cloak.

He moved forward: everything was quiet now. Well, pretty quiet anyway. The inside of a Reaper was never quiet,
he'd found. As soon as it had realized he was inside of it, the indoctrination
had been turned up. Shepard felt like his brain was slowly dissolving. But he
kept moving forward. He was the only hope...

He turned the final corner and there it was: The core of the Reaper. This one was very different from the dead
one he'd encountered a few months--and yet ages--ago. This one was quite alive.
He could hear the sounds of the other Reapers being relayed through this hub;
it wasn't understandalbe, of course, but the tones were. Everything was going
smoothly.

That was going to change.

Shepard started slashing, cutting, and shooting at anything that looked
important. The ship shook in response, and he heard the sound of husks coming
his way.

He had to hurry. He pulled out the device Legion had assembled, with the
collective help of the Geth and Quarians. He didn't really believe in magical
endings, but this device would isolate the Reaper's communications and overload
their systems. "Meltdown" was the term Tali had used. Legion had said
"Explosion of indeterminable size."

Moments later, it was over. The Reaper was beginning to shake and the sounds coming in were anxious and
alarmed, but Shepard wasn’t there: he was racing back the way he’d come, trying
desperately to get out of the ship. He moved quickly, gunning down husks
efficiently, robotically. All around him the metal was slowly heating.

At last, he reached the opening,
to see it was blocked. Horror flashed across his face before he snarled and
attacked the door. Shotguns, rifles, and grenades all proved ineffective. The
walls and the floor were beginning to smoke.

Finally, he raced backwards several hundred yards. This was his last chance. Ignoring the husks coming his
way, he pulled out the ‘Cain.’ He pulled the trigger, only afterwards taking
care to aim it exactly where it needed to go.

The projective raced out of the barrel at blinding speed. An instant later the blast occurred. Shepard turned
away and grabbed tight onto a piece of the wall that was being twisted out of
shape by the meltdown.

A moment later, the minor atmosphere inside of the Reaper began shooting out of the hole. Shepard was
grabbing anything he could get his hands on to slow down; just in front of the
hole the doors stood bent and twisted. He grabbed them, then held on as he
looked out.

It was majestic and terrifying at the same time. A field of Reapers, a far as the eye could see, were slowly
turning a bright red color. When one exploded, it would be over. Shepard looked
over at where the Normandy was hovering, watching his ship. He raised a fist in
victory.

Among the field of Reapers, their consciousness was failing. The hyper-intelligent words became beastly
cries of pain and agony. They were immortal. This couldn’t be happening. Among
them one single Reaper remained intelligent enough to recognize the figure
about to leave the Central Reaper. A billion thoughts ran through his ‘brain’
in a nanosecond, calculating possible futures. A moment later, a beam of energy
left Harbinger’s main gun.

Shepard smiled with relief. It was over! They had won. The galaxy was finally free. Free! He laughed as he prepared to leap.

Shepard. He looked around. Harbinger? Too late he saw it. I know you feel this.

An instant later he was sweeping through the inside of the Reaper, bouncing off of peeling metal walls, his suit
cracking. He shot into the room he’d been in before, where he’d planted the device.

He felt…pain. Sadness. Anger.

Remorse. Tired…

Then he felt nothing.

Synthesis: The love interest jumps into the light with Shepard. Organics and Synthetics merge.. The Normandy is still on Earth. The Reapers malfunction. The Mass Relays are fine..

Destroy: Reapers are killed. The Geth and EDI survive. The Normandy is still on Earth. Shepard gets evacuated from the Citadel. The ending shows him in a hospital with his crew and LI.. open to interpretation whether or not he survives.

Control: I'd never choose this option so I don't know.

Also... ANDERSON MUST SURVIVE.

I'm in support of a Reapers winning scenario where lazy players with minimum assets get owned.

Same as current one till dead of TIM, after that crucible just fires all reaper tech inlcuding relays. No Normandy crashlanding to random planet and no weird AI/god/kid. If you want exposition on purpose of reapers then indoctrinated illusive man could have done that instead of that kid.

And with perfect score fleet manages to slow down harbringer enough so that Shepard is in decent shape to confront TIM and blows his head off saving Anderson who then tells Shepard to escape Citadel while he fires crucible and dies in the progress -> happy ending with Shepard alive with his LI (as happy as you can get with billions dead, relays gone and countless aliens stuck in sol) nd how Anderson knew that Shepard had to escape, well facing healthy Shepard illusive tries to reason with him, telling that activating crucible will destroy relays and doom current civilizations and instead should just let him use crucible to control reapers (which is a indoctrinated lie that he believes).

Ending I wrote in another thread.

TL;DR ending

Perfect Paragon: Crucible disables reapers rather than destroy them, military finishes the job. Shepard is rescued by Normandy, observes reconstruction with LI.
Perfect Renegade: Same thing, but with the Crucible destroying reapers and causing a lot of collateral damage.
Paragon: Crucible destroys reapers, creates collateral damage. Shepard dies. The galaxy is reconstructed.
Renegade: Shepard allows cycle to continue and is killed by Harbinger. All sentient life is eradicated, but animals are shown on a planet, indicating that they will evolve and life will continue.
Bad End: Shepard collapses before reaching console to activate the Crucible and is killed by Harbinger. Otherwise ends the same as the renegade ending.

Pineapple Salad wrote...

I'm just irritated that the game looked like it was going to end in a completely different way (Shepard confronts Harbinger at the citadel, Harbinger explains the creation of the reapers, their purpose in "saving" all organic life, why killing the reapers will ultimately bring doom and chaos upon the galaxy, blah blah blah), to which I thought, "Perhaps a tiny bit cliché, but nevertheless appropriate." And then I got to the ending, and not only is none of that ever really explained, but we're left with a TERRIBLE deus ex type ending, where some complete unknown is hurled at us at the very last minute, and we're just supposed to accept it without knowing a thing about why this being is in control of our destiny, or why Shepard is limited to those choices. Also irritating is the fact that Shepard jumped through ridiculous hoops to get everyone in the galaxy to work together and increase the Effective Military Strength for the final battle, only to have that be an extremely minor variable in how the game ended.

To prevent the confusion of Harbinger and Shepard, I'll refer to the commander as "she". Also because I usually play as femshep.

Anyway, here is my idea for an ending:

Shepard arrives at the top of the Citadel, where Harbinger awaits. He criticizes Shepard's actions as admirable but futile, finally explaining who the reapers actually are, how/why they were created, the purpose that they serve to organic life, andwhy organics are destined to descend into chaos and destruction without the cycle. At this point, Shepard's decisions throughout the games will actually make a difference and shape the ending, as she attempts to prove Harbinger wrong.

In order to unlock the best ending, Shepard must have cured the genophage, united the geth and quarians, and reached 100% galactic readiness/have 5,000+ EMS rating.

Shepard explains to Harbinger that he is wrong; the alliance between krogans and turians proves that peace is always possible, no matter how unlikely it may seem (unless Shepard chose to sabotage the genophage, in which case she remains silent). Harbinger will claim that such a peace is destined to collapse, to which Shepard replies that if it peace can be achieved once, it can be achieved once again. Harbinger will then say that this doesn't matter, as synthetic life will inevitably turn against their creators, to which Shepard replies that the geth and quarians are now living side by side as allies on Rannoch, and that reconciliation and even love between synthetic life and organic life is also possible and perhaps even destined (unless the geth destroyed the quarians, in which case Shepard remains silent). Harbinger will still go on about how the cycle is the only way, how resistance is futile and that even now, the reapers have destroyed everything that this current cycle holds dear, how Earth, Thessia, and Palaven have been laid to waste, how destroying the reapers will accomplish nothing because there are threats in dark space even more terrible, worse than Shepard could imagine.

If Shepard cured the genophage and/or united the geth and quarians, but did not reach the EMS requirement, then she can make either a paragon or a renegade decision. If Shepard sabotaged the cure AND the quarians were eradicated by the geth, as well as having EMS of 2500-, then there is no decision; he is helpless against the reapers.

Paragon: Destroy the reapers
Renegade/Bad end: Allow the cycle to continue

If Shepard cured the genophage, united the geth and quarians, and reached 100% GR and/or 5000+ EMS, there will also be a blue paragon option and a red renegade option made available, both of which will destroy the reapers, but with different consequences.

Blue: I'll take that bet.
Red: Bring it on.

There could be small variables that affect exactly what you see in multiple different endings, but here's a summary of what each choice would be:

Perfect paragon ending (blue): Shepard tells Harbinger off, and activates the Crucible. It hits Harbinger directly, deactivating him. The impact of the weapon spreads to the rest of of the reapers, shutting them all down and allowing all of the forces of the galaxy to destroy the dormant reapers. The troops begin cheering and Shepard watches from atop the Citadel before collapsing at the Crucible's console. It appears that she is dead or dying, but the Normandy arrives just in time. Shepard's LI (or Joker in the absence of one) steps out and rescues her. The Normandy flies off, while more reapers are shown being destroyed. The screen goes to black, and then in the next scene, Shepard awakes in a medical post on Earth, where her LI waits next to her (Liara and Joker if there is no LI). The lovers/friends have a nice chat about making it through alive, remembering fallen comrades and the galaxy's survival to wrap things up. LI/friends ask Shepard about what the plans are for the great Commander Shepard, to which she replies that she plans on living a long time, and thinks they've earned a rest. LI puts an arm around her as they look out at the distance, where they can see their other surviving teammates are all involved in some sort of celebration or reconstruction activity before the shot goes back to Shepard and her LI/friends, and then the camera zooms out, showing Earth, then Sol, and then the entire galaxy, before cutting to credits.

Perfect(ish?) renegade ending (red) : Shepard tells Harbinger off, and activates the Crucible. It hits Harbinger directly, causing him to explode. The rays from the Crucible create a destructive chain from reaper to reaper, causing them all to explode across the galaxy, though this also causes much collateral damage. Shepard watches from atop the Citadel before collapsing at the Crucible's console. It appears that she is dead or dying, but the Normandy arrives just in time. Shepard's LI (or Joker in the absence of one steps out and rescues her. The Normandy flies off, while more reapers are shown being destroyed. The screen goes black, and then in the next scene, Shepard awakes in a medical post on Earth, where her LI waits next to her (Liara and Joker if there is no LI). The lovers/friends have a nice chat about making it through alive, though LI mentions the additional destruction that the exploding reapers caused. Shepard reassures LI that the deaths were not in vain, as the galaxy will continue to thrive. LI/friends ask Shepard about what the plans are for the great Commander Shepard, to which she replies that she plans on living a long time, and thinks they've earned a rest. LI puts an arm around her as they look out at the distance, where they can see their other surviving teammates are all involved in some reconstruction activity before the shot goes back to Shepard and her LI/friends, and then the camera zooms out, showing Earth, then Sol, and then the entire galaxy, before cutting to credits.

If you don't meet all of the requirements:

Paragon: Shepard tells Harbinger off, and activates the Crucible. It hits Harbinger directly, causing him to explode. The rays from the Crucible create a destructive chain from reaper to reaper, causing them all to explode across the galaxy, though this also causes much collateral damage. Shepard watches from atop the Citadel before collapsing at the Crucible's console. She gazes out on the galaxy before her sight leaves her and she dies. The Normandy arrives, where her LI comes out and mourns over her body (Joker and Liara if there is no LI). The screen goes black, before showing each of Shepard's squadmates involved in reconstruction or planning of some sort, as well as events from other planets in the galaxy such as Thessia, Rannoch, and Palaven, before showing Earth again, and then zooming out to Sol, and then the galaxy, before cutting to credits.

Renegade (Shepard chooses to let the cycle continue): Shepard inquires again about the supposed terrible secret of space that Harbinger revealed, to which Harbinger replies that the galaxy will one day be under attack again by a force much worse than the reapers. At this point, Shepard can either choose "We'll take our chances" or "So be it". If she says "We'll take our chances", then this will go to the paragon ending. If she says "So be it", Shepard will surrender, allowing Harbinger to destroy her. The reapers continue their destruction, and all intelligent life is destroyed, planet by planet. The camera zooms out to the galaxy, where flames and explosions light up. The screen goes black, but then fades out to a shot of a lush planet, where animals and insects are thriving, indicating that these animals will one day evolve and organic life will continue, before cutting to credits.

Bad End (Shepard doesn't get a choice): Shepard starts walking toward the console to activate the Crucible, but collapses on the ground. She begins to crawl toward it, before Harbinger tells her that he cannot fight her fate, and destroys Shepard.

Sorry for the tl;dr post, but I hope you guys liked it. The paragon and pefect endings were meant to give closure to us fans who wanted to see the galaxy on the mend, to actually take it back from the reapers and actually conclude the story while still leaving the possibility for a sequel open (Commander Shepard will have died by the time the menace that the reapers mentioned would come; the only character that could possibly survive til that point would be Liara, thus effectively ending Shepard's story). The renegade option was made to leave the possibility open that destroying the reapers is not the only option, although to me it would be really unsatisfying. And the bad end is there to encourage the player to actually put some effort into uniting the galaxy against the reapers, lol.

I approve of this thread. We've been co-writing the journey of our Shep for 5 years, and as co-authors we have the authority to rectify the crap Bioware pulled.

So far I am really enjoying these other endings. Feel free to edit mine as you like to reflect your own choices etc. I am interested to see what comes of this thread.

Here's what i came up with. Feel to re write and repost if you want.

Shepard makes it through the conduit and arrives in a keeper tunnel, sounds of gunfire can be heard and people screaming.

Shepard: This is Shepard, did anyone else make it through?

There is only static.

Shepard staggers forward, struggling to walk, but making it.

Anderson: Is anyone there?

Shepard: I’m here, did you make it through.

Anderson: Barely, where are you?.

Shepard: In some sort of tunnel, what’s that noise.

Anderson: The reapers are still fighting the people who were trapped in the Citadel. I can see some of it from here but I can’t get to them. I’m going to try to find the master control, get yourself there.

Shepard: It might take awhile.

(Some scenes of Shepard staggering, finally reaches the control console for the citadel arms.

Shepard: Anderson, I think I made it.

Only static answers. The whole citadel shakes from an explosion.

Shepard makes it to the console and starts pushing buttons.

CUTSCENE: The citadel begins to open.

Hackett: The Citadel is open, get the crucible in position.

Reapers make a beeline for the Crucible.

Hackett: Protect the Crucible at all costs, it must reach the Citadel.

NOTE: If galactic readiness is less that 1700, reapers destroy Crucible, win, and the cycle continues.

If higher, then the crucible docks.

HACKETT: Can you here my Shepard, Nothings happening, you must have to activate it from your side.

Shepard looks at the console. The configuration of its screen changes. And disappears.

It reappears.

CUTSCENE: The crucible begins the glow.

HACKETT: Something’s happening, keep the reapers off it.

The Illusive Man: Wait Shepard.

The Illusive Man enters the room from the side. He is now longer completely human, his body, partly husk-ified and emaciated. He seems to have trouble breathing and Walking at the same time.

Shepard: You. What did you do to yourself.

The Illusive Man: Don’t worry Shepard, I’ve changed, but I am still the master of my own mind.

Shepard: Just like Saren.

The Illusive Man: The turian believed helping the reapers was the right option, I have never thought that.

Shepard: No, just control them for yourself.

The Illusive Man: Never for myself. For humanity, same as everything else I have done. I can control the Reapers using the crucible, use them to bring order to the galaxy.

Shepard: What, by leaving humans the only race alive.

The Illusive Man: Don’t mistake determination for evil Shepard. All I want to do is ensure that humanity isn’t wiped out, and is strong. You think this alliance you’ve built to fight the reapers will last. Tomorrow the krogans will be at war with the Turians and the salarians. And don’t think that just because you’ve been there friend they won’t stab you in the back. We need the power of the reapers to create order.

Anderson: Don’t listen to him Shepard.

Anderson enters, weak and wounded.
Anderson: We have a chance to end this once and for all, there is no telling how much killing he will do if you give him the reapers.

The Illusive Man: And how many people are you willing to murder because your afraid of them.

Shepard: What?

The Illusive Man: Unlike you Shepard, I know what the crucible does. It harvests the minds of all the people on the Citadel and unites in the one power computer mind.

Shepard: It makes them into a reaper?

The Illusive Man: Not quite, but just close enough to be able to access the reaper signal, and cause them to self destruct, but at the cost of the millions of people on the Citadel.

Shepard: If I have to give my life to stop the reapers then so be it.

The Illusive Man: oh you won’t die Shepard, the creators of the crucible wanted to make sure they had to live with the burden of what they’d done. There won’t be an easy death to let you escape the guilt.

Shepard: I’ve already made sacrifices.

The Illusive Man: This isn’t the same as killing 300,000 people when you had no choice, here there is another way, my way. I can use the crucible to access the reaper signal, and imprint my will on the reapers. And I can do it without killing anyone on the Citadel.

Anderson: And make them wipe out all other races in the galaxy.

The Illusive Man: My will is to protect humanity nothing more.

Anderson: Don’t let him do it Shepard.

Anderson struggles to stand. As does the Illusive Man.

The Illusive Man: I’m afraid nether of us in in a position to stop you Shepard. And as you have the only gun its your choice.

NOTE: The Player must then kill one of them.
IF THE PLAYER SIDES WITH THE ILLUSIVE MAN:

Shepard shoots Anderson.

The Illusive Man: I’m glad you made the right choice, for all of us.

The Illusive man places his hands on the console.

IF THE COLLECTOR BASE WAS SAVED:

The Illusive man dissolves in a bright light. The reapers stop there attack.

IF SHEPARD IS PARAGON:

The Reaper ships leave.

IF SHEPARD IS RENEAGDE:

The Reaper ships slaughter the alien fleets, then leave.

IF THE COLLECTOR BASE WAS DESTROYED:

The illusive man attempts to use the console, but something is wrong.

The Illusive Man: No, it should work, everything I had said it should work!

He is burned to crisp.

The Crucible explodes, and the Reapers win, the cycle Repeats

IF SHEPARD SHOOTS THE ILLUSIVE MAN

Anderson: You almost had me worried there for a second.

Shepard: Just keeping you on your toes.

They Activate the Crucible

The citizens of the Citadel are hit by a wave of energy, and vaporized.

That energy wave radiates off of the citadel and hit’s the reapers, going form one to the other connecting them all.

Then They explode. One after the other.

FADE TO BLACK

SAME SCENE FOR ALL

Shepard wakes up in a hospital, still recovering form injuries. Shepard is visited by squad mates and romance option and such. depending on many factors.

The tone should be dependant on Paragon renegade score and ending chosen.
