Everything you say is true. But there are even bigger issues. Like, genocide of entire races that can't return to their home system from earth without the relays. Mass deaths of remote colonies. General lack of closure. Etc.

The 3rd choice could be that ending for having enough points, as you only get the choice if you had a high score.
Low score just gives you two options, which one would be picked for you based on your choice on the collector base.

Bioware made their bed. They now get to sleep in it. And yes, the endings are abysmal. Especially since the endings are all copy/paste with different colors for your "decision." Oh, and never mind they just don't fit with the philosophy of the series (player choice, strong supporting characters), what the developer marketed ("It won't end like Lost" "Your Shepard won't have the same ending as my Shepard") or even logic (characters getting teleported to the Normandy).

the military strenght u have at the end but still there is no choice i could have picked and i dont think there r any other choices but i have not beatin the game differently yet either

Those endings really broke my heart. Yeah, I know, sounds pretty dramatic, but I'm a pretty diehard fan, and now I can't even bring myself to start another playthrough like I expected. Did everything right, got my EMS over 6000, and this is how the game repays my efforts?  I'm all for bittersweet endings, but this isn't exactly it. 

Partway through the game, when someone brings up the possibility of the Reapers following a higher order, I recall thinking, "Jeez, hope they don't pull a Matrix and have you meet the Architect or something."  <_<

I rather liked my buddy's idea, which was to do away with the whole Crucible if you acquire enough EMS and let your forces just overwhelm the Reapers.  Yeah, yeah, wishful thinking, but one can always dream. 

Also, holy recycled cutscenes, Batman.
