I agree....I love my Geth Plasma Shotgun X with shredder / extra clip mods.

It's my favorite class. I tried to max Stasis with the other option (damage bonus) and not the bubble and I'm very happy with that. I'm not playing gold yet, but silver is going pretty smooth so far.

You can do a support role initiating a biotic explosion with you stasis (or blowing up yourself with charge) and you can play more aggressive if you need to. Stasis (or taking a enemy already affected by any biotic) and charge-> meelee and dodge the hell out. For that I left my granade at 3.

For weapon I use a Paladin with Scope and Barrel. I don't get the 200% but it does a ginourmous damage. You can, for example, Stasis and kill a Phanton with 2 headshots. Only problem is the ammo, but nothing you can't handle.

I actually would do justicar for the weapon damage depending what pistol you're using. I play it the same way as an asari adept with the ability to charge to get your shields back. Stasis bubble + pistol headshot. Perfect. Plus the weight reduction for the pistol is worth it.

...... what? pistols are easily some of the best heavy weapons in the game, shotguns way to much and lower your power recharge, any heavy pistol of phalax quality and above can do more DPS and give you 200% recharge if you spec into weight

Hah.

Now watch a shotgun vanguard beat Gold Reapers with full extraction in under 15 minutes.

Pistols are ideal for Asari Vanguards that want to wreck face against Cerberus, though, because Stasis Headshots from a carnifex wreck phantoms at any range.

I just played my vanguard from 10 to 16 today, and really loved it. I maxed Charge first, speccing it for AoE/+weapon/+shields, then Vanguard, then Fitness, choosing the options that reduced cooldown, reduced weapon weight, raised shield capabilities and regen. I left Stasis and grenades mostly alone after putting a point in each and then another into grenades to get two of them. I found both to be fairly lackluster since they seem to do little against heavy targets.

I only used a pistol, and my strat was charge, then walk backwards while firing my pistol. Doing this once would usually be enough against standard enemies. I was even able to use this against enemies like Pyros, with my Charge shaking them up enough that by the time they were mobile again I was already out of their range and able to charge again. 2-3 cycles of this was plenty to finish them off, less if I was getting headshots or had special ammo. Against "boss" enemies like Brutes and Banshees this was much more dangerous, but the above strategy of charging then teleporting backwards away asap does tend to work. You just need to make sure you have clear space behind you at all times.

Epic bump? I was preparing to answer to the dude above about stasis being lackluster.

Anyway, it's my favorite class in the game, too. 6/6/0/6/6 with GPS VI. Some time ago I tried a couple of gold matches (vs Cerberus) with a Disciple V or something, most of them normal extractions but it wasn't worth the effort overall, even a Disciple X is not good enough for my playing style. So now I'm sticking to silver until I max out the GPS and learn how to use it properly. Its main problem at this point is its weight, at least for a caster.

My opinion is that asari vanguard is mostly effective as role playing character (meaning - it's not a great character but if you fall in love with them you don't mind how bad the power composition is)

I love my asari vaguard, she is a Spc. Jineva of the ASU - Armali Sniper Unit (name is from the killed asari sniper on the Thessia mission)
I use charge with 4 - area, 5 - weapon, 6 - barrier
stasis with 4 - strenght, 5 - recharge time, 6 - bubble
lift granade with 4 - area, 5 - max granades, 6 - area, damage
justicar (grrr how much it pisses me off, it's commando not justicar) with 4 - weapon damage, 5 - headshot, 6 - weapon damage

weapon 1 widow - armor piercing mod + advanced scope
weapon 2 hornet - low weight mod + magazine (or cooling mod)

guerrila gear

incendiary ammo

it's very irregular I know but it works, you have to think about your character as your weapon, did Zaeed suck as a mercenary when using jessie?
I actually score better on silver with her than with any other character, simply because I enjoy it more, even it there are better builds, better weapons and better characters :D
