I met Major Kirrahe on Surkesh on the save the krogan female mission. Got him as a war asset. But then during the Citadel Coup attempt instead of Thane appearing to save the Salarian Counselor, Major Kirrahe appers and gets gutted by Kai Leng.

But then on the Normandy I get the scene where Garrus talks about Thane dying.  Did i miss something to trigger Thane from saving the ambassador and got Kirrahe killed?

Thane appeared for me, dunno what I did. Maybe you had to talk to Thane all the times he asks when your on the Citadel.

I didn't even get Thane to appear at all.

My Thane was dead in ME2, but I hear that if you didn't talk to Thane somewhere in the Citadel, it's still Major Kirrahe that saves the ambassador.
