As for being forced to take a few mages...dump the Witch at camp and put Wynne to the sowrd when you first meet her.
You have choices, use them.

When are you required to have a mage? I can't think of any time they force it on you.
First they force a mage on you at the tower of ishal.
Then they force morrigan into your party at the bandit encounter.
Then they force wynne into your party at circle magi tower.
........ It's so ****ing dumb, it's like the game is telling me "you're **** without a mage".
actually that is not true. You are not forced to take wynne at the tower if you do not want to nore do you need to take morrigan. they are optional to take

Pay for the game and maybe you would have the right to complain a bit.
Where is this pretentious anti-piracy attitude stemming from? Do you have some sort of 6th sense allowing you to tell who did or did not purchase the game, or are you (more likely) just labelling anyone who did not enjoy the game as much as you did a pirate?
simple the OP does not have the game registered to their account

Fact is, If I played as a sinister character, one out only for money, power, cared for nobody but himself and scorned magic dealers - I would not get far if at all in the game.
Case in point: Try to get rid of Morrigan right from the start, she does leave but the moment you try to exit camp she miraculously appears back in your group and interestingly, you can actually select her and move around camp with her instead of your main?! A bug? Whatever the case, the game does without question limit ones freedoms.
Not sure if this could eve be remedied though... I think when you make a game based around a story then it becomes very difficult to grant players freedom to do anything.

Redcliffe is an optional zone? What kind of pirated copy did you buy?
Enchantment!
That's not optional content since it comes with the game.

It comes from the fact that this guy always posts spoilers in the main board and refuses to register his game, then when asked to says he 'lost hes code in the car before he got home' .....meaning he could nevr have installed the game to begin with.
So, I am labeling him a pirate based on his own stupid story.
It's strange but in every forum about games that I read, the people who whine more about games are pirates.
They whine about a game that they have stolen!

This thread is about completing the game, not buying the game. Unless you count Sloth's posts. You don't have to complete achievements, therefore they are optional.

Try and play Baldur's Gate 2/Planescape/Icewind Dale 2 etc without a mage or cleric. See how you get along with it.
I finished Icewind Dale HoW without a mage. 4 warriors. It isn't that hard

The standard start-up one which the groups caught and disabled, and one in the middle of the game that would **** things up if you'd pirated. The forums got flooded with complaints about the "bug", and the game got a poor reputation (and sales) as a result.
Can't remember the particular game at the moment, though.

Some Batman game had a pretty funny glitch in it. I guess it didn't break the game, but worked pretty well to point out who stole the game!

to those who don't mind, no, you don't need mages at all =D
I think Wynne's the must have mage in the party, due to her healing abilities.. =/

This game forces mages up your ass.... If you want to play without a mage you can't.
RPG's have always been about what kind of companions you want. But this game forces mages into your party a lot.
I'm getting tired of this ****. I've been playing rpgs for years and I ALWAYS ALWAYS have a pure melee/archer group. I NEVER have mages in my group.
THe nerve of these devs forcing mages into your group and forcing you to change your playstyle.
i dont use mages, mostly because i find their gear unappealing to look at lol
my group consists of, a rogue(either my PC or leliana since zev cant lockpick to start out) sten, alistair, and either shale, or my pc, depending on if i play my rogue, or my warrior.
you can honostly play through this game with any combination you want, and you can try to solo it if you want.
having a mage might make things "easier" since you dont have to worry about healt potions and you can simply have them heal bot, or make things go boom alot. but its far from a requirement. i used morrigan my first few playthrough because she made for interesting conversation, then i tried wynne, but for the most part, im mageless.

The Game was called "Sacred" and was created by Ascaron and published by Take2.
The Copy protection would strand you on a small Island from which escape is impossible (you can leave the Island if your copy is legit though, and you only have to go there for a special Quest).
Frustratingly though the Game was also employing this method of protection sometimes if the game was legit and you used a NoCD-Crack.

Are you talking of Titan Quest? I remember that Ironlore's forum were flooded with complaints about "bugs" that were only in the pirated copies of the game 'till the point that the game builded a bad reputation of being buggy when it has only some minor problem. The same thing is happening in the Social Network: infact most of the complaints have been reported in that board where registration is not necessary to post.
Mind, I understand and support constructive criticism, I have some criticsm too about the system and gameplay but "the games forces mages up your ass" is ridiculous. Quite the contrary: if you resist the urge to play with two mages in your party and do not use healing magic, the game system really shine in all its beauty.
