What happens is, I have already installed the game, That Went off just fine, But when I went to start the game I press play, It waits for a few seconds and then comes up with a screen, similar to the BF3 problem:

blog.liox.eu/wp-content/images/bf3_origin_activation_problem.png

And If I press the "Enter product key" button, it pulls up the "loading wheel", Waits a few seconds and then it stops, and  no-matter how long you leave it, it still stays in the same spot.

Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: I have just found that if I go to "Different user" And I try to sign in, It says there is an internet problem (Even though it is working fine)

Not only has this problem persisted, It has also just teased me.

It got past the spinning wheel of death to another screen, Then it crashed.

I'm stuck there too....terrible limbo, after fighting my way through getting Origin stable enough to install the game, now I am not VALID....

If EA ever get back to me on the EA support line, I'll share anything they say.

This is sad :(

3 total re-installs today, plus editing of registry and deletion of cache files...still no getting past that screen.

We need Garrus and Tali working on this for us! ;)

Bumpity bump...

24 hours after first EA Origins support email and....nada, it says 24/7, so I obviously need to be online at that precise 5 minutes when no-one else is? ;)

Even more amusing, I've been waiting in live chat in a 12 minute queue....for 3 hours, and that wait number does not change!

What is really gutting me is all the people who pirated the key and are now playing. I just can't do it, even though I own the game....sheesh.

Go, get them Chik'tikka!

Well, I got a reply and it advies me to get revo (The un-installing software) and un-install both Origin and Mass Effect 3.

Here we go again....

Ok they obviously think that there is a key issue and it is in the registry. Hopefully a clean install after Revo will help.

Fingers crossed for you...and me!

Ok, just finished trying that.

On the plus side, I could re-install using the DVD ROMs - hurrah!
Origin installed easier.
On the very peeved side - still no activation. It still says that the code was invalid.

I think 8 hours today of trying to install this game is driving me nuts.

Same, I have got another fix from EA, Here it is:
1.Exit Origin completely. You can do this by right-clicking Origin in your system tray (near the clock) and selecting "Exit"
2.Open Internet Explorer (this will only work with Internet Explorer, not other browsers). Enter the following address into your address bar and press "Enter/Return"
C:\\ProgramData\\Electronic Arts\\EA Services\\License\\
3.Delete the file that was created/modified on the day of install
4.Restart your machine.
5.Launch Origin and login to your Origin account.
6.Attempt to launch Mass Effect 3

Hmmm, there is no licence for ME3 in that folder. I have two entries in EA Core....

Do you think that they actually know if this is a fix or are they pulling our chains?

Do you have Bull-Guard internet security?

Yes. At the moment it is turned off when trying to activate/run ME3. No firewall or anti-virus running, windows security is off, clean boot, all app files for Origin and ME3 are being run in admin mode.

Did it work for you?

1. Go On Bull-Guard
2. Go to "Gaming"
3. Add Origin, Mass Effect 3 And the activation exe's
4. Activate The Mass Effect 3 one.
5. Play.

Sadly....No. I already had both Gaming, Firewall exceptions and Anti-virus set up fully for Origin and ME3. I can't past the activation screen, either way.

Bullguard is not the issue for me.

I am however happy that you can play! Have fun :)

I still get this problem... ;( I have fully disabled my Kaspersky Internet Security, even tried to add ports on which ME3 activation ties to connect to authentication service. I still get "Could not activate ME3 error" and after that "Your internet connection is unavailable".

Ok that was my issue.

Try a clean startup, details are here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796
I suggest that you try a total clean start with no startup services other than microsoft ones. I found that Bullguard Heuristics and Updater were problems so look suspiciously at Kaperskys equivalents.
Anti-Virus and Firewall (with exceptions added for all Origin and ME3 exe files allowing full access across all ports) were ok.
NVidia startup service was ok.

I also found that the pathway for ME3 exe file was corrupted in the registry. I corrected that.

There was an Origin update today that actuall made my 8.5 version show as a pre-release rather than a beta. In the Origin window, look at the top.

I tried to run it in clean start, but it also failed. I will try to install it on clean windows install (I have Windows 8 Customer Preview to check so... I will kill two birds with one stone).
