Recently, I've been reading a few things about how the unofficial dex hotfix has been bugging Shale out, and I'm a little confused as to how it all works, or even if the bug actually exists at all.

Now, I'm not entirely sure if I'm even experiencing this bug or not. When I unequip both of Shale's crystals, her base armor seems to be 15, 18 with stoneheart activated and only two points into that tree so far. Meanwhile, when I equip my small clear fire crystal (which, in addition to the usual +x% elemental damage) also adds +3 weapon damage, her damage seems to go up just fine as well.
I guess what has me confused is this: The descriptions of the bug say that it sets her so the gear she starts equipped with become her default values. However, the crystals she came equpped with for me didn't do ANYTHING to her default armor or attack values, all they did was add and resist some spirit damage. How does this even show up in the statistics? The "small shale problem" thread mentions some sort of "9 armor crystal." I have yet to see any such crystal. Are Shale's crystals supposed to provide some sort of invisible armor and attack bonus that isn't mentioned in the tooltip, (because we all know how terrible DAO's tooltips are) and this is the value that's getting applied as Shale's base with this bug people are describing?
So, long story short, does anybody know what Shale's base armor value is supposed to be without this dex hotfix-induced bug? At the very least, that would tell me if I'm actually experiencing it or not...
