Things you dislike about ME3 (besides the ending)

The First rule of this thread:  We do not talk about the ending.

The second rule of this thread:  We do NOT talk about the ending.
Anyway.  ME3 is a
great game, in my opinion it is superior to its predecessors in almost every
way (except for that thing which will not be talked about).  But perfection is a myth, so share some
things that you dislike about the game.
Feel free to add trivial or personal things that aren’t necessarily bad,
you just don’t care for it.  I’ll even
start with my most trivial of trivial issues:

-Tali is the last party member to join the crew.  Tali has always been one of my favorite
characters and is my romantic partner in both ME2 and 3.  So… yeah.
Nothing more need be said.

-The quest log sucks.
This one is a real issue.  The new
quest log rarely has useful information since it doesn’t update itself to accommodate
you.  If you’re looking for a specific
item, you can’t even tell whether or not you have the item, and if you don’t
have it, where you can find it.
Sometimes, the quest giver will give you a hint for finding it, but that’s
assuming you heard them when they asked for it since you pick up a lot of
quests just by running past people on the citadel.

-No Harbinger confrontation.
I’m not breaking my own rules.  This
isn’t something that had to happen at the end of the game.  It’s just something that I wanted to see at
any point during the game.  I’d been hoping
for another chance to exchange words with Harbinger after the Arrival DLC,
maybe right before exchanging blows in a boss battle.

-No attack on Omega.
I almost wonder if this one is going to wind up being a DLC pack,
because the potential is there.  The Mass
Effect: Invasion comic details the fall of Omega, so when I met Aria again in
ME3, I was hoping for (and almost expecting) Shepard to just go “Wait, you’re
saying Cerberus has a strong hold on the doorstep to the Omega 4 Relay?  Well that can’t be good.  Sounds like something I should take out
anyway, wanna help out?”  She could be a
temporary squad member like Liara in LotSB.  Bring Archangel along and watch the hilarity
ensue.

-I don’t like the kid.
This is just a personal thing, but I don’t like the kid dying at the beginning
of the game.  It’s too ham fisted,
clumsy, and largely unnecessary.  It
doesn’t have the same impact as some of the other sad moments in the game
because there’s no real emotion to it.  We
don’t actually have a reason to care about him dying besides that fact that he’s
a kid, and now he’s dead, and that’s terrible.
I don’t want to see Thane die, so when that happens, it’s sad.  I don’t want to see Legion die, so when that
happens, it’s sad.  Some kid in an air duct?  I couldn’t care less about him.  You could argue that his death sets the tone
for the rest of the game, so it sets up the other sad moments of the game, but
like I said: it did nothing for me, and anyway, the FALL OF EARTH kind of
stands on its own merits without the help of emotional exploitation.  As you can imagine, because of this it kind of rubbed me the wrong way when (The first rule of this thread is...).

Omega's attack is in the upcoming comic Mass Effect Invasion...which comes with the Special Edition I got so I got the first issue or half of it at least.

Journal was horrible and unorganized. It was kind of a pain to find things.

I can't think of anything else I really disliked...besides Tali's late arrival into the game as I romanced her also. I had moments where I left the Citadel just to get emails telling me (literally as I just left Citadel for convo moments) to go right back to the Citadel and i'm like WTF...I think those things are really it.

Only thing i can think of is the Quest Journal and lack of more interaction with Squad members like in ME2

I can live with the endings, but I really dislike the journal. I had to search online more than I would have liked to because I didn't have a clear destination to go to. Especially with Kasumi's quest.

Hearing about the trouble on Omega and then NOT getting an opportunity to cleanse it of the new tenants was a letdown.

The many random quests you would overhear on the citadel eventually just became monotonous.

The last two games both had great 'big bads' in Soveriegn and then Harbinger. Being talked down to by a giant cluthu robot was always memorable, and it would have been a better way to hint at the reapers purpose throughout the game rather than having that ridiculous (and illogical) tell-all from the dream child.

The dream sequences were just dumb. It would have been cool if Shep had a dream foreshadowing the fallout from each ending. Not sure how 'control' would be handled, but destroy could just show the kid and then the forest around burn. While synergy could have been an opportunity to show the kid turning into a half-synthetic half-human being.

The Journal
Lack of Omega
Lack of Vido Santiago
No Sidonis or Yahg.
Also, I was hoping Shep would go one on one with Kai Leng in a melee battle, but that execution was damned cool.

Javik almost seemed an afterthought in the narrative. Just like Aria.
Not getting to see quarians' faces.

3 things bothered me other than the ending:

1. The journal.
2. Citadel being the only place you can return to and interact with characters. I guess it makes sense due to reapers invading everywhere but, yeah dunno.
3. Most of my favorite characters from ME2 being reduced to cameo appearances. Well done cameo appearances, but still.

Almost nothing, overall I loved it (although more interactive dialog, activities, etc. with my crew would be awesome). The endings are the only thing I didn't like.

omega being built up in ME2 and the invasion comic only to not be in the game at all (unless they made a dlc about it)

Plug and play. As in "Don't have character X alive/recruited in your game? Fine. We'll replace them with someone else." This is more a replay issue than anything though.

The awful Journal, like others have said.

The Kid, Sentimentality at it's worst.

The Reapers. Not just the ending exactly, but the lack of character. Harbinger has nothing to say and aside from a few words from that one reaper they were distressingly silent. If I hadn't played the last two games I would think they were just mindless automatons controlled by a glowing ghost child and not intelligent beings in their own right.

Better journal would have been nice. And although I LOVED the increased dialogue with the squad, I'm usually finding it hard to enjoy with the "Kasumi and Zaeed" system as opposed to the cinematic dialogue wheels. Speaking of dialogue wheels, I miss the "neutral" option. Also speaking of dialogue, I wish that so much of it weren't automated. Map could've used markers for quest points as well, in my opinion. As well as the obligatory Thing We're Not Supposed to Mention In This Thread.

That's a lot of complaints, but I overall like this game. I really do. Except for the Thing We're Not Supposed to Mention In This Thread.

I guess they were planning a retake Omega DLC but after these endings anything short of super alternatives shouldn't be sent out

No actually, that comic is already over. The comic that comes with teh special, collectors is just the first comic with a limited edition cover. All four issues are already out, and ties into the beginning of ME3.

Now for things I don't like...

1. so many loading screens! They are a little better than ME2 visually, but there are so many of them and can be lengthy.

2. Linearity. It makes for better story cohesion, but at the same time it feels so... Choked, not sure how to describe. Not sure how replay value is going to be. ( Havn't finished the game yet.)

3. Some imported story decisions feel like a copout. For example, no matter what the rachni are there either way, udina always becomes the counciler, etc.

4. A good chunk of side missions are just multiplayer maps with very little dialogue and story.

5. The journal. My god that thing is confused and cluttered.

That all I can think of for now, otherwise I am enjoying ME3 far more than I thought I was going to.

Journal not updating, a bit too fed-ex quests for my taste. Also, last battle was epic, but it was shooter epic not really role-playing epic. And the en... Whoops. Never mind that last one.

Really disliked how often it was said or implied that I ever trusted Cerberus. I picked every option to oppose them I could in ME2.

I missed having company while I had to run my ass all over the citadel. I miss the banter, and convos that would spring up with your fav shipmates while walking around there.
