My own version of the ending. Rebelling against Order.

First, let me say that I respect the general themes of the endings. It's Bioware's game, and so it's theirs to write.

My main issue is the supermassive plot hole in each ending. Because everything else is so well written and executed, it gives the impression that the whole final scenario was rushed out. The Normandy does, however, make a sort of sense from the worst-case ending standpoint.

I didn't like that, so this is my version of the ending. I'm imagining resolutions to many loose ends and unanswered questions from throughout the game and creating an open-ended  Call it a fanfic if you like, but it appears many people here are doing the same without the fanfic-neccessary amount of shame. (That was a joke.)

Some plot points to fill plot holes:
  • Because the shuttle was shot down, the squad is on Earth and shares Earth's fate.
  • Shepard's squadmates attempt to reach the conduit, but they fall behind and are pushed back when Shepard gets hit.
  • EDI gets damaged in the fight with Kai Leng, and so must stay aboard the Normandy during the battle for Earth.
  • Shepard sees the kid in his/her dreams for months, ever since "The Arrival." Upon seeing Order, Shepard can put 1 and 1 together: the kid is a hallucination. A symptom of early stages of Indoctrination contracted from Object Rho.
  • There is no 'integration' option. It's way too ridiculous for my tastes.
  • The Crucible is not a directed energy weapon, but a bomb. It is revealed to be such by the avatar of Order.
  • Certain Citadel sidequests affect the fate of the Citadel citizens. If enough are completed then most of the citadel is evacuated before the Reapers arrive, due to advanced warning from Cerberus/Reaper intelligence. If these aren't completed, Citadel-associated war assets and characters get destroyed or weakened.
The 'bad' endings - Control and Destruction.

There is no integration, as it makes no sense. The other two are relatively unchanged from their worst-case versions.

As Shepard executes his/her choice and flashes back, radio chatter can be heard. The fleet can see the device power up, and becomes progressively more panicked, culminating with Joker shouting "Holy ****! It's gonna blow!" Because of the Normandy's phenominal FTL speed, it races out and is the only ship to outpace the blast. All life in the Sol system is reduced to ash, and the reapers are either destroyed or leave for dark space.

Civilization is saved, but at horrible cost. The Mass Relays are gone, and all non-self-sufficient colonies are doomed to death. The Galaxy is fractured, but many survive.

Normandy crash lands on a habitable planet and the crew (and NOT the ground team) disembarks. Depending on the choice the game ends with Joker either hugging EDI or leaning on the side of the ship, sobbing.

The 'good' endings - Rebellion.

This ending is largely based on f1ndmenow's ending idea. Shepard can refuse Order's suggestions, and propeses his/her own way to break the cycle: fight.

Order acknowledges its defeat from the moment it is confronted by Shepard, but the choices presented to Shepard are not solutions.

(Requires 90% reputation) Shepard debunks both choices -- with Control, what's to stop him/her from becoming the new Order and returning in 50,000 years? In addition, the cost of
Destruction is way too high.

Order then tries to convince Shepard one last time that synthetics are the real threat, and that he/she must assume control of the reapers. Crontrol is the only option at this point.

(Requires 100% reputation) Shepard reveals Order to be the self-fulfilling prophecy that it is; Reapers are synthetics after all and destroyed their creators long ago. This re-unlocks the Destruction option and locks Control.

(Requires peaceful resolution of Quarian/Geth conflict) Shepard brings Order's attention to the Geth and Quarian ships working together in close formation, and states that Shepard has succeeded where Order has failed -- cooperation with synthetics. Shepard announces that although this fight may be futile, galactic civilization in this cycle is proving that it must not be trifled with. Every loss the Reapers take now is a victory for the next cycle.

Order hesitates. Sovereign arrives. The rest of the Reapers act confused and start taking bigger hits. Radio chatter describes the allied forces still crumbling or beginning to hold. Soveriegn charges up and Shepard flashes back. If there aren't enough War Assets, Shepard is obliterated while standing proudly against the Reapers and the Galaxy falls. The cycle continues. If Shepard has maxxed War Assets, then the 'perfect' ending begins before Soveriegn fires.

The 'perfect' ending - Take Earth Back.

Bringing as many forces as possible through the Charon Relay, allied forces take the Reapers' confusion as an advantage, smashing through many fronts that were previously unbreakable. The Galaxy wins.

(Requires maxxed War Assets) Hackett's flagship breaks through and rams Soveriegn, firing a point-blank main-cannon shot in his 'eye'. Shepard his blasted back into a wall and loses consiousness.

Shepard awakes in a hospital, with either the LI or Joker watching over him/her. He/She had been in a coma for a week, but had made an
unexpectedly fast recovery due to his/her implants. Though still burned and bruised, Shepard is fit for active duty once more after a few more days of recovery. The Reapers are still around, and will still be around for years until the fleets finish tracking them down, but their main force was broken at Earth. The Citadel was moved back and is intact, though will be uninhabitable for years to come.

Earth has been secured, and operations on Thessia and Palaven are underway. Colonies are being retaken and rebuilt.

Shepard returns to the Normandy for cleanup operations, opening up the 'open world' gameplay style from ME2's ending. Epilogue journal entries are added, maybe some cinematics as well.
