I would like a code to just skip the game please. Maybe get to choose how it ends so I do not actualy have to play the game.

Hey, that's currently my solution. Fade prison sucks and is not worth doing a second time. I stop playing. I increase my personal enjoyment value until someone releases a bypass option. I effectively win. It's good to be a sentient consumer that can make choices for himself.

I think one can do it a lot faster by skipping all the atributes boosting bonus chasing!

Every (Bioware?) game has this prison-esque sequence which is both fun the first time and irritating in a way that makes it infinitley more satisfying when you complete it. The problem with theme is that by the second or third playthrough, the novelty has indeed worn off.

I'll admit, I do so despise this part of the game. On my latest toon, I went to the Brecilian Forest first just to avoid the evil that is the Fade Prison. :P

That said, I'd love a mod to skip it, but I certainly wouldn't berate anyone who enjoys it or Bioware for making it. It's a Prison. It makes you want to escape. :P

I'm about to do it on my 2nd play through and I am looking forward to it, mostly for all the wonderful +1 attribute points, but the shape changing is fun too!

Bad parts for me are having to go back to the islands you've already cleared to use the new forms to get all the +1s (I know its optional, but come on) and I really really hate the "dream" vision of the Fade. It just gives me a headache and it looks so brown and blah and boring after a while. The fade should be vibrant and magically, not drab and boring.

I loved the Fade part. Very interesting and creative. On the other hand, I would do without Ortan Thaig (although the rest of the Deep Roads was awesome) and I don't feel excited about the Dalish camp. U hope that the quests for this group will make it up.

I think it mostly depends on the mood you actually have when you play the location in question. Perhaps I was tired and annoyed when playing Ortan Thaig for which reason I didn't like it.

If you turn off Buffer Effects that goes away. Tried it once when I'd been running the game for several hours and it was seriously bogged down. Gets rid of many effects, one of which is the Fade haze if you're not into it. Just don't forget to switch it back on, it makes the rest of the game much lovelier Posted Image

if you can't beat that whole section in under an hour your second time around you are doing something wrong. I enjoyed it my second time around as I found new stat boosts I didn't bother discovering the first time around.

So you are going to pass up the 15 free attribute points you get? it actually goes quite fast once you know what you are doing and figure out you can switch between all the forms without delay.

Stone Golem - Hurl then quake
Flaming guy - fireball
Spirit - Freeze then cage

you just blow through any enemies in no time

In the 2nd novel The Calling, when characters were trapped in the Fade in much the same way, they weren't in a weirdo desert like setting with minimal props related to their dream. It was described as a real setting: towns, buildings, whatever was needed to make the setting match the dream. (I'm referring to the dreams/areas of the characters in your group, not the bigger areas.)

Thought it was one of the best parts of the game, really enjoyed the tactics of using the various forms.

It was interesting the first time, but the total linearity and near absence of any NPC interaction makes it the weakest and most boring part of the game. I actually believe they put all those attribute bonuses in only so that people would still have incentive and feel some sense in going through that thing again and again.

Sloth demon.  How much effort were you expecting?  ^_^

Anyway, I'm the opposite.  Hated that part first time, and ran through it with no bother on the second time.  Just think of it as working for your massive stat boost.

the mobs die in 3 seconds no matter what you do. that's the point. it's a bunch of useless running around and backtracking to open doors (ooo this ones a SPIRIT DOOR see you have to be a spirit, real creative hurp durp) and staring at load screens. i'd rather just kill the demon where he stands and not bother.with the whole thing. Don't waste my time with this crap a second time bioware.

I don't see whats so bad about the Fade Prison.
There are only 4 areas you need to re-enter in order to get all 21 stat bonuses and exit the place.

I liked the Fade; it was one of the more interesting areas of the game so far.

But since we're discussing part of the game that folks may not want to know about before getting there, let's move this on over to the spoiler forum.

I enjoyed it. A lot, in fact. Why is it still so difficult for people to grasp the idea that tastes and opinions can and will differ?

I thoroughly enjoyed the Fade prison and collected all of the stat boosts even on my second playthrough. Granted, replaying it does eat away at the charm a lot but it's still pretty fun and decidedly different from the main game.

Stone Golem was not as unstoppable as I remembered. Possibly because second time I was a mage, and first time I was a warrior.

I learn fast; sure it took a while, but I tore through compared to my first trip. I think the reason it seems so long is because you also just spent upwards of 30 minutes clearing out the previous few floors of the tower. If you have the mental capacity to remember where the forms are, you can make good time on future playthroughs.

I don't like the Fade and dread getting to it. Generally I put on my headphones and listen to my iPod and go through it as fast as possible. I can see where it's necessary story-wise, though, and it was a challenge the first run-through.

I enjoyed The Fade but I tend to agree with those here that it was a bit too long. Actually "too long" may not be the right way to put it, but it felt somewhat tedious because of all of the jumping back and forth between areas once different forms were acquired (a tedium that will no doubt be amplified on future playthroughs). So the reason it felt like a grind wasn't the length so much as it was the level design.

I also would have preferred to go without the forms. A solo section was a nice change of pace and I would have enjoyed testing out my character's abilities on his own. I get why this wasn't the case, but that would have been my preference.

And +1 to the Elven/Werewolf comment. Watching them kill each other off and selling their loot would have been much more satisfying!

A code to skip it is too meta and out of character; I'd rather have a dialog option. Like "Wouldn't you like to just take a rest? The world will go on without you..."

PC:

[Willpower]I don't think so! I WILL stop the blight, demonic scum!

[Cunning]No it won't. Without Alistair and I, the blight will spread across Ferelden!

[Strength]You are huge! That means you have huge guts! RIP AND TEAR!

[Dexterity]You need to work on your aim, creature!

[Constitution]I'm not even winded. Don't try this "take a nap" poppycock on me, demon!

But of course, giving the player the opportunity to skip it should incur some penalty. Like losing out on the 10+ stat bonuses and all the XP to be had for killing things in the fade.

Because, honestly, I can see where people come from. The first time you play through the fade, it's really neat and interesting. But once you get to your second or third playthrough, it becomes more of a chore than anything else, since there's not all that much to do besides kill things, and since you probably already know where all the forms are anyway.

Actually I quite liked the Fade. I found solving the puzzles and nuggeting out all the hidden bonus areas quite fulfilling.

People's warped expectations that merely expose mental laziness that cheats them out of their ability to enjoy a well crafted RPG typically dissapoints me. Oh well ...

No actually the problem is that the puzzles are easy (durp fire, turn into a fire man) but involve lots of useless running around. This isn't like a Bg2 puzzle where you click some stuff and are in and out in 5 minutes tops.

I admit, it took me a bit to figure it out.  I actually liked it.
