The Fade definitely went on waaaay too long.

Still, it was better than every other dungeon in the game because at least it was different than "short hallways connecting small rooms full of enemies oh look a conversation that groups all my characters into the center of the room as enemies swarm around me" x 20

I hate the fade on any character other than a mage. So that pretty much limits my characters now to mages =\\. Could think I freaking love Arcane Mage xD

I loved the Fade part on my second playthrough actually now that I knew what to do.

The only critisism I would have is I hope for future romps through the Fade in Dragon Age products is that I wish it was even MORE surreal.

I think the Circle Fade was pretty long and could have been implimented more efficiantly. Thinking back now it could have had more of a twisted, horror feel to it and incorporated more of your characters and companions histories and psychology. It could ahve been done better but i still enjoyed it. And probably will again.

Thought it was one of the best parts of the game, really enjoyed the tactics of using the various forms.

I agree, it was creative and interesting tactically.
It did take some time to figure out what was going on the first time but I'm sure it would be quicker on future playthroughs.

I found it an enjoyable puzzle, but that could just be me. I'm actually grateful that it was a puzzle more complicated, than, oh, the Towers of Hanoi. *cough* It was confusing the first time through, but after that it's been cake pretty much (a few wrong turns aside anyhow).

It was good, but as above, I would have enjoyed it more if it involved your companions a little more.

I enjoyed my forays into The Fade and liked shifting from my main character into a golem, mouse etc.

Orzammar was the only part of the game that I didn't enjoy and am not looking forward to revisiting what was a tedious part of the game for me, a second time.

Wasn't there some kind of 'evil' option to bypass that part of the story, or I guess not really? I can't remember, I did that part as a result of the stupid kid being possessed, not to recruit anyone; although, I guess I came out with the Magi on my side also. Players should be able to skip recruiting people and just go to war :P

Unfortunately, I agree. I won't be able to play through multiple times without some very intriguing mods.

First time was tedious because you didn't know the right order in which to acquire the forms and you end up visiting each fade realm at least thrice.

After you know your way around the place it definitely becomes a boring chore, but it doesn't really take you THAT long.

I find the Deep Roads to be a hell of a lot more boring and frustrating, mainly because I do not enjoy cavernous levels and because that place is probably the hardest segment in the game.

I liked the fade and wish the speed of shifting to various forms in the fade would be incorporated into the class specialization shapeshifter mode. That and the shapeshifter class forms need to be made a bit better.

I quite enjoy the Fade, there is a small element of puzzle-solving (which I totally love) and I never found it overly difficult (once you do it the first time, you pretty much know where to go and howto get all the shapeshift forms). The boss fight at the end was total cake the second time around. Any who, I didn't find it as irksome as travelling all the way through the Deep Roads without much opportunity to manage inventory along the way, actually found the Circle of Magi and Fade to be a lot faster and more fun to do than that. Though I don't think either section is much of a grind. If the game was over in 20 hours I would be pretty upset so, I quite enjoy all the content really.

Only thing I don't like about the Fade is the boss fight at the end. It's boring, it has probably 1 too many phases, and there's nothing interesting about it. Just a boss that you have to kill repeatedly which has a lot of hit points, armor, and resists. It's the only part of the game that I switch from hard to easy, just to get it over with quicker.

The thing that really bothered me about the Fade (aside from the blur effect) was all the backtracking. I'm thorough when I sweep through a room, area, what-have-you, and no matter how thorough I am in the Fade I have to go back and forth to do everything without changing objectives at all. It's not the same as say, running around the Denirim marketplace, because in places like Denirim there's usually something new happening there, and if there's not I can at least get some new dialogue between my companions. In the Fade prison it was "Kill everything in this area, can't open door, go find form to open door, walk and walk and walk with nothing to kill and nobody to talk to, open door, repeat."

i am posting here while taking a break from that train wreck of a "puzzle." it was cute the first time, but for something that maintains zero challenge after the first run it takes far too long.

Interesting how people take so long on something that is "zero challenge." ... I find this part of the game much more enjoyable then the gauntlet puzzle ... which does not serve any purpose what-so-ever except to be a time-sink. With the Fade, at least I am improving my character, not sitting there going: move pawn to L3, move pawn to R2...

It also makes no sense that your character can fail the gauntlet puzzle over and over ... so it is nothing but a time sink.

I really enjoyed it, just finished it last night. But certainly given that it's pretty linear and there aren't many alternative options in doing it I could certainly see it getting a little old after a few replays.

Being a Golem rocked though

(I'll get my coat)

The Fade was cool on first playthrough but dear lord... it's almost physically painful on second and repeated playthroughs.

I really like the fade and don't mind replaying it. It is fun to morph and skellie runs fast. Plus the bonuses. I think what makes people complain the most is the visual effects and background music and sound effects... they are ugly... I'll try turning off whatever was mentioned in a previous post here in a future fade trip.

Dreamland might look better and with less dodecaphonic track since there are good spirits in the fade too... perhaps not in that particular part of it though... but a demon's illusion would look and sound better to try keeping dwellers under control... The Matrix had it perfected for their sleeping batteries...

You know I consider the Dalish part to be the most boring part of the game filled with boring and annoying characters, obnoxious antagonists (I want to CUT SWIFTRUNNER'S TONGUE OUT AND RAM IT DOWN HIS EYESOCKETS), and a long and dull dungeon.
But you don't hear me demanding to skip it.

I actually liked the Dalish part.  Admittedly the snarling speech of the werewolves grates after a while but all in all it's fun.

I wouldn't mind if they made it possible at the first meeting to convince Swiftrunner you want to talk though.  Like a really high Persuade or Intimidate check something like.

[Persuade] I just want to talk, I was told you were mindless beasts but I see that's not true if there's a peaceful way to resolve this I'd like to try.

[Intimidate] Either take me to your leader or I will burn this forest to the ground, kill you, and use your pelt as a blanket.

I really liked the fade level actually. First time took too long but was still semi-enjoyable. Second time was fun as I breezed through the level.

I must admit, this is my least favorite part of the game, if there was a way to bypass it, I would do so in a heartbeat.

Bypassing it and losing extra stats would be fair traid off if there would be that option, that said i did enjoy that fade experience.

I agree to some extent, it does seem a bit silly that you have to go through the 'slaughtering of their kind' before they give the 'parley' option, but then again I actually think the Dalish part is one of the shortest if not the shortest.

Fade prison, first time I went through I didn't realise how easy it was to do the fights in the various forms and so I had my human noble warrior princess beating on golems in normal combat (I was on easy at the time), granted it gave me more xp/kill than 2nd runthrough with my elf mage whom I used the forms (mainly golem) to CLOBBER the opponents into submission.

I found the fade frustrating on first runthrough but as others have said, once you know the lay of the land and what you need to do it becomes like all the other areas. I actually found the Orzammar section to be the longest and the Deep Roads more of a timesink, but as your fighting Darkspawn for the most part, it has its relevance.

With regards the above suggestion about the Dalish part, as someone else has said, it possibly could be nice if something similar was given for both the sloth demon and also that camp in the Brescillian Forest. I don't think I've yet tried walking away from that camp after the 1st check, so can't confirm if you can actually walk away from it without getting into the fight, if you can, then surely it should be possible that if you did that before the Circle Tower someone with a high willpower should get a check where can say "I ain't feeling sleepy, prepare to die demon!".

I know one of the key things about the Fade Prison is obviously Niall telling you about the scrolls, but surely if you kill the demon in the tower you should still be able to find the scrolls anyway?

Am not fussy about the Prison myself and looking forward to doing it again in future playthroughs, just think the option should be there for certain characters (or those that really detest it that much).

Main reason I like the prison is Golem form, makes me want to scream out "ITS CLOBBERING TIME" or "HULK!!! SMASH!!!"

Also part of me wishes there was an option at the Anvil of the Void for you to be turned into a Golem :D or maybe an opportunity for shapeshifter mages to learn that form in the real world of the game

First time, it was frustrating. And it wasn't even the END of the Circle Tower quest.

Second time, it was easy and quick... Give Fade-Prison a second chance. All that "free" status bonus is great and turning into a Golem and Hulking Smash Ogres is fun. (Well at least to me).
