Did anybody else vomit when they first heard this? This totally broke the immersion for renegade shep, when shep is genuinely concerned when he sees a soldier crying because his husband dies. I am not saying we should be biggots, but this whole fairy fields thing didnt belong in ME3.

Good point, funny how he doesn't complain about the lesbian

Cortez is awesome.

I thought it was very well done, that Cortez was a character who happened to be gay instead of a gay character and that you could get him to move on from his husband without romancing him.

Yes, gay people certainly won't be allowed to be married or serve in the military in 173 years.

I adored it. He's an ace fighter pilot, totally normal guy, and he lost his husband in a Collector attack. They treated it with dignity, nothing flamboyant about it, no extra attention, no unnecessary underlining. It's just a simple line of dialogue.
He lost his husband to the Reapers, he doesn't want to talk about it. Most people don't like talking about it when they lost their significant other to war. I think it's one of the few things BioWare handled beautifully in this game.
Hopefully in 172 years our real world will be able to consider that statement as normal as the characters in the ME universe did.

You're not saying to be bigoted but you vomited? And I forget, was there no way to be unsympathetic?

Cortez was beast-mode incarnate. That fireball when he "crashed"? That was him just getting angry that the reapers scuffed the paint on the shuttle.

I don't think he is complaining about the gay people, I think he's complaining about Renegade Shepard being nice period.Wraith 02 wrote...

Be clear. Are you saying its because he's gay, or because your renegade shepard is a heartless machine?

Hehe
I am not against gays or lesbians but this "I lost my husband" sentence...
I thought the devs oversaw a sound bug (or a bad import) until I realized later ingame he IS gay

I personally had a huge problem with him coming onto me because the paragon option says nice things. I'm a straight male, I don't want to be hit on by other males, I certainly don't want to have to watch it in a video game. It was uncomfortable, but Cortez turned out to be a coolish character. And yes, I'm totally fine with the lesbian talk. Because I'm a male. Bite me if you take offense to that.
...The dude walked away from a crash going "Meh, Reapers."...how could you not like the character after that?
But still, it didn't feel like he was gay and there, it felt like he was gay and wanted Shepard to really know he was. It felt forced. I'm not sure if it's the same for Femshep and Traynor, I haven't played through it with a female yet.
If it was like Allers, who states a simple line that doesn't sound forced, it sounds natural and it works even if you reject her. It actually seemed like an innocent slip up that really caught me off guard(I didn't know you could romance her, I had heard about Traynor and Cortez). If Cortez was like that more, I wouldn't have had a problem with it.
