They brought Shepard back from being a burnt corpse, pretty much anything is possible after that

DA2 soured me on the DA series, so I have a tough time gaining enough enthusiasm about DA:3. Unfortunately, the ending to ME:3 has also soured me on the franchise. If there was a ME:4 announced, I would not pre-order. I'd wait a month or two for the metacritic score.

I would expect to ignore it unless ME3 gets an alternate ending fix.

Probably finding the true origin of the Reapers and who made them, discover it's happening in other galaxies as well, and somehow make your way to the "central" place that controls them, so you can destroy their creator and destroy the Reapers one and for all.

i can't see how ME4 would be successful unless it focused on shep and either finished off the reapers(depending on your viewpoint as to wether they are gone or not) or focused on before the events of me1, such as shep getting into the N7 program and doing his background and psych profile. It would be hard to come up with an antagonist. How can any villain beat reapers.

I want Shepard in ME4. But Bioware do have to fix the mess in ME3.

Until that I would never purchase any other games from them.

I would expect it to not sell well.

Probabably a lame prequel. Many prequels turn out poorly, and with the scifi genre I prefer going further into the future. Bioware really ****ed up when they decided to write in the destruction of the namesake of the series...the  mass effect relays. :wizard::wizard::wizard:

I don't want Mass Effect 4!!

Its a trilogy and should stay that way. Remember those Star Wars prequels?

I wouldn't buy it. For the sole reason we were PROMISED that this game would be the end to the shepard story arc and that we would get closure. They lied! What's to stop them from lieing again? For all we know, they'll bring out ME4, but even that still will not hold any answers. They'll keep dragging it on like COD, milking all the money they can out of the franchise before letting it die. Well they are not getting my money. They either fix the ending to ME3, or I'm walking away. Nuff said!

This may be the millionth time I've said this, but again, Mass Effect: Origins should be the fourth entry assuming Shepard's story is really done. It would let players see things from the perspective of other species. They could really up the RPG elements too by letting you pick your ship, customize it, customize the crew (choosing pilot/engineers/etc). My hope would be that something like the indoc theory ends up being true, that way the game can start with your origin on your home planet (Palaven for example), the lead in to you taking part in the battle for Earth, followed by you making your own mark on the galaxy. Without the relays, the game would have to either take place entirely in Sol or take place far enough into the future where relays are being created again.

I expect James to be the next protagonist (backstory in upcoming anime, hints at being chosen for n7 program during ME3). That doesn't means I'll give a **** unless they show me they can end this trilogy properly before starting another. There's absolutely no way I'll stick in for another long haul like this one after Bioware has so clearly shown their incompence with ME3's ending.

Interesting thought, actually. I fully expect there to be another Mass Effect game, (this is EA we are talking about here and when have they not taken the chance to milk a successful franchise), but it will be a fullblown FPS or cover shooter and James fits the ****** "Gears of War" persona to a tee.

With the way things are going, I see three possibilities.

1. "Mass Effect 4" is the working title for an MMORPG. It will be made by the same team who did SWTOR and feature cartoonish graphics, sub-par voice acting, and an atmosphere that removes all the fun and allure from a series everyone loves.

2. Mass Effect 4 is a multiplayer game in a similar vein to TF2. Stylized graphics, class specializations, hilarious Garry's Mod movies on Youtube, the whole shebang.

3. Mass Effect 4 is a movie produced, written, and acted entirely by Michael Bay. It receives rave reviews and spawns four thousand prequel/reboot versions of the Mass Effect games.

Assuming we're stuck with the terrible ending we currently have.. it would probably take place a few hundred years after the Reaper invasion. A galaxy reconnecting and rebuilding as best as it can. There will no doubt be some sort of retcon to handwave the stranded victory fleet and how the mass relays exploding didn't destroy all the major solar systems. Perhaps the focus of the game would center around new technology that could allow travel comparable to the mass relays, but at some great cost. They'd be hard pressed to come up with an antagonist as imposing as the Reapers but there are plenty of bad dudes in the galaxy. We could explore the yahg and the raloi, perhaps, and finally get to go to some of the capital planets we've not seen yet such as Dekuuna, Kahje, and Irune.

I could see Liara in a support role with her daughter (either Shepard's or not, depending on your previous choices) as a squadmate. Krogans stick around forever, too, so Wrex and/or Grunt could cameo as well. Now that we are fully involved in the universe and mythology of Mass Effect, perhaps character customization could open up to race selection. Maybe not volus or elcor or anything, but certainly the council races. That's a bit of a dream, though. If they homogenized race choices in Dragon Age, why would they branch out for Mass Effect?

I say no to an alien being the next protagonist. Anyhow, here is the story i came up with for ME4, which would not be part of Shepard's trilogy.

Shepard has failed to stop the Reaper invasion, but he/she came closer than anyone ever has. Another 50,000 years pass, and once again mankind rises from the Ashes and finds himself at the peak of galactic civilization. A yet to be named protagonist, finds the human beacon Liara left behind and learns about the Reapers and sets out to destroy them once and for all with a band of brothers in arms...

ME 4 would feel similar to Shepard's trilogy, but the feelings of nostalgia and the past experiences would push the gamer to finish Shepard's fight.

If ME4 were announced right now, I'd expect an absolutely tsunami of outrage. And that would be the best case, I think. Worst case is no one says anything, but everyone just throws up their hands and gives up on Bioware completely.

I bought ME3 to see Shepard's story ending and the trilogy closure. I paid for that promise and we all know the final result, so I expect me not buying ME4 or whatever they do until they do something with the endings (or the total inexistence of them)

Since they tacked on multiplayer Horde mode, they just take the whole Gears of War approach. Make it a 3rd person shooter with co-op. I'm not saying that's entirely bad. I enjoy Gears, but I play it for different reasons.

It seems they want to have this long-term, online playability some franchises enjoy. Add in some online store for buying upgrades (like they did in multiplayer) and the EA stockholders will be happy.

That doesnt mean the entire mass effect universe is a no go after part 3.

A mass effect 4 could be possible with pretty much a blank sheet there is plenty more
in the mass effect universe then shepard alone.

That said , i would not buy a part "4"  or Mass Effect "XXXX"  ( Title )

Unless Mass Effect 3 is Fixed and gives closure.
