Ok first up what si the default story line for a new save? i've lost my ME 1 and 2 save and I want to have killed kaiden, killed the council, saved the rachni queen and destroyed the cerberus weapon..
Secondly, what the hell is the rpg/story/action options... I want the game as it's meant to be played. What is the correct option?

Is there a 'correct' option for an RPG? I'd have thought it was just what seems correct for each individual player. Also it's a bit tricky to talk about the default assumptions of who lives and dies and what Shepard does here or there in a forum where no spoilers are permitted.

There isn't a "right" way to play. If you want to play "as it's meant to be played", then you probably should choose RPG; that will have both normal combat and normal dialogue.
As for default storyline, you *should* ask this in the ME2 forum, but the VS will be of the opposite gender of Shepard (so if you want Kaidan to live, play as FemShep), and the original council/rachni queen will both be dead. I'm not sure on the last one, did you mean the Collector base? If so, I can't help you, I'm not sure what the default is.
