The Javelin is not the Mantis.

It is used for:

A). Shooting through walls. If you see an enemy outlined in purple, even if he is behind cover, guess what? YOU CAN SHOOT HIM!! yay.

and . Shooting multiple enemies with one shot. It will actually shoot them if they are lined up with one shot.

Just because people dont understand a weapon, doesnt mean that said weapon is broken or needs to be fixed.

Was fun in me2 single player, but not as usefull without the slowdown.

First off, the javelin doesn't blanketly shoot through anything.  It was a penetration rating assigned to it (that is significantly higher than the widow/black widow) and can penetrate objects up to a certain depth.  You can attach the penetration sniper rifle mod to it to gain even more depth, but you also add a damage debuff to any shots you make that penetrate cover that would otherwise not be debuffed without the mod.

Experiment the next time you're in a game, find a console or a surface with variable depth and shoot it with the javelin and check the floor/wall on the other side to see if the shot left a mark where it hit.  If there is no mark then the object was too thick, try it on something thinner.  If there is a mark, try it on something thicker.

Use basic investigational skills and learn the limitations and advantages of your weapon before complaining about... or if you don't want to do that, type your question into google.

Love the javelin.

I love the sound effects and the scope on the javelin. Doesn't pack as much punch as the widow though (which also pierces through thin cover/guardian shields/multiple enemies), so it's not quite worth it if you have both with similar upgrades.

The firing delay feels natural after a round or two, but it's still a weird mechanic.

I want the javelin quite badly in multiplayer, I had a great amount of fun in single player with it. I also need ANY sniper rifle mods. I have plenty of SMG damage upgrades and Shotgun accuracy. XD.

Raptor is a strange one. The numbers say it is utterly amazing, one of the highest dps guns in the game plus its accurate. In practice for some reason it doesn't seem to do as well as a Mattock for me, despite having higher theoretical DPS.

you can get sniper rifle thermal clip mod in recruits pack and the rest in vet or spec

Although I'm probably playing it wrong, I just run around with Javelin as Turian sentinel spamming warp/overload around. Kind of came to a conclusion that any enemy on silver+ just rips my shield apart even with tech shield in a matter of second, might as well do a support and maximize damage.

Wait so adding the penetration mod makes it weaker when shooting through walls?  Seems pretty stupid but the whole shooting through thing cover is rarely ever handy anyways making this sniper pretty useless when compared to the widow.

Raptor works great for me. I think the Mattock has a slightly better RoF, but getting 232 rounds on a Raptor = no hunting for ammo. Its lightweight enough that I still get a good power bonus too. With AP ammo, it chews through Atlas Armor fast. Reloading is for people who don't miss.

Incisor is crap, but so are plenty of other weapons in the game. Apparently that's the intended experience #falcon

The Incisor is kinda fun on the Turian Soldier. Stability bonus + Marksman makes it rather effective Headshots are still a little difficult though.

Can anyone else confirm that penetration mod reduces javelin penetration damage?  I know that it does in crease the penetration distance.

I would say javelin is better than widow, although I haven't tried gold yet.  The ability to quick scope with widow might be a bigger advantage there.

Shooting through cover is quite useful, especially with javelin compared to widow.  Widow can penetrate up to 0.5 meters and will do half damage when penetrating cover.  And it can be tough to know what cover is thin enough to shoot through.

Javelin can penetrate 1 meter, and does full damage even when penetrating cover.  Also, Javelin has the built in scope mod that highlights all enemies that can be shot (if you can see its outlined when scoped, you can shoot it for full damage).

The one redeeming factor for it over a widow, is that it can pierce a geth flamer's tank through shields. Otherwise, the scope is claustrophobic and the delay shot takes some getting used to. It should be lighter to justify being N7.

Javelin is great...

Most penetration of any weapon in the game, can shoot through basically any wall.

Does the the same damage, if not better than my Widow.

Javelin is fantastic because you can sit in the same spot, with tunnel vision, struggling to shoot through a wall for 3 seconds while enemies pound you from all sides and you cost your team 15 mins longer on a gold clear.

Yeah typical aim & fire time for me is 0.5 seconds. With .25 being the guns charge up time.

I use it so much in single player that quickscoping enemies through cover is commonplace.

IF used on an infiltrator enemies won't be "pummeling" you since 80% of the time you are invisible.

As for tunnel vision, just unzoom after firing.... DUH.

15 minutes longer on Gold clear? More like 15 minutes shorter since I can see where the last enemy is hiding from across the map.

Yeah, main reason I wanted it...

When I got it all I could think of was "Hell yeah, GPR and Javelin when my Mini-Geth-Prime arrives!"
