I finished ME3 about 20 mins ago, had time to think about it.. and overall.. I was hugely impressed.
My character and the choices i've made from ME1 to 3 I felt suited the situation, I know alot of people are ragging on how it ends but the way I ended my game was so close to an idea i'd had beforehand, it felt very right and I was happy to see it through.
Bioware back on form if you ask me, don't let it slip.. this was a great game and a great series, thank you very much.
I often rag on bioware.. especially since DAII..

I'm with you, OP. DAII was just so bloody awful that I was really worried about ME3. But my fears never materialized. I really like ME3 and had a blast playing it.

Everyone enjoyed everything about the game itself. The problems arise with the endings and solely the endings (small bugs not withstanding)

I didn't have a problem with DA2, loved it, actually, sue me. But the ending to ME3 was Beethoven dropping trou on stage and leaving a hot stinky mess at the end of his masterpiece.

Hmm maybe for you, for the way I played through the series.. my choice at the end nailed it.
Something must be off though, since so many are complaining

They wanted to die in their LI arms or some other nonsense.

Or they wanted Reapers to win. or they wanted to win on their merits not because of a Catalyst. Or they wanted a happy ending, or they wanted various other things.
As for you Auru, I'm glad you enjoyed the ending and I respect your opinion. I'm glad you found a suitable ending for your Shepard. Can only hope that others will be able to have the ending they want for theirs

I'll be honest, I knew ever since ME2 that Shepard was going to die. She's almost a messianic figure by the end. How could someone like that live in a galaxy without the Reapers to fight? Of course I still wanted an "everybody lives" ending. But in the end, like you, I feel my Shepard was OK with what happened. What she wanted, more than anything, was to break the cycle forever and give the galaxy that future she talked about. Not delay it by controlling the Reapers (because who knows where that path would lead?). Not destroy the future for synthetics like the geth and EDI. For her, synthesis was an acceptable option.
And hey, she got to make sure she would never, ever, ever be forgotten. I think she's OK with that.
But I do have to say, it felt weird in the end. Throughout the rest of the games, I always felt that I was Shepard and she was me. But at the end, it wasn't me. It was somebody else that I just was watching the story of. That's not a bad thing, by the way, it's... kind of a nice thing.
