You need to destroy the Reapers. The other two options always result in Shepard's death.

"Destroy" is the only option you can choose to have Shep survive.

Which raises the important question.

...What the hell is that thing? You mean to tell me I could've just walked into this part of the Citadel, planted a bomb, and the Reapers would have just blown up?

No No No No.. First You have to stick a LARGE ....... (No Spoilers) in it. Then you can blow the Citadel up. No LARGE..... No Candies

You have 4000+ effective assets or total assets? Becasue the 4k threshold is for the former, not for the later.

Control is arguably survival. At least your consciousness survives (though this is subject to interpretation). Only your body is destroyed.

Yep, Destroy saves Shepard, but at the cost of EDI and the Geth. Such fun.

Screw that.  I'd rather die than kill EDI.

I can be wrong but it is more than 1000 points less than my game. Perhaps this is it...

Because s/he's pretty much F'd either way. Assuming s/he's where we left him/her, s/he's floating in space on a fragment of the citadel or Crucible, doomed to die a slow death.

The fact they we have to make that choice disgusts me. Most people will destroy the Geth and EDI. The Geth are one of the most interest races in the game. It makes the entire Geth/Quarian peace push entirely pointless. And makes the emotional moment where Legion sacrifices himself completely worthless.

I have the strategy guide. You have to destroy the Reapers and have an EMS of 5000.

That's why I chose the control ending. Hopefully Shepard's consiousness still exists within the Reaper collective, 'cuz otherwise they'll be back in a few centuries to finish us off I expect.

In my canon ending, Shepard woke up after Mass Effect 3 and figured out it was all a dream he was having while riding the Normandy to Earth. Then Reapers appear and Mass Effect 4 happens. Yep. That's I'm imagining my canon ending.
