How do you make Shepard survive??

How do you get 4k+ readyness? I did all sidequests and explored each sector 100% and ended up with something around 3500-3700. I am allied with all species including the rachnii.
And my shep always is in the explosion at the end when choosing the right path (so i guess he is dead, jim?).

I also dislike that the right path kills EDI and the Geth! They are my best buds :(.
The ending doesnt even make sense because that stupid child is talking about the products will always rebell against their makers even though i just made peace between geth and quarians so that they both live in harmony on the same planet -.-.

my "fleat values" right befor attacking TIMs base:
total strength: 6846
effective strength: 3489
readyness (mp): 50%

Multiplayer mode.  Playing it boosts Galactic Readiness, which starts at 50% and climbs up to 100%.  Galactic Readiness acts as a multiplyer on your score.  So not engaging in any multi-player mode at all gives you only half the points you should have.

but Bioware stated many times that you do NOT have to play the MP part to get the best result in SP... so it shouldnt be the 4k thing should it?

how do you know that shep survives the detonation when he chooses the right way? in my savegame he gets blown away pretty hard each time ;).
after the outro an old savegame is autoloaded from a point right before the attack on TIMs base so i gues shep is dead :(.

I'm working on testing this out myself, but after doing a considerable amount of research from forum posts and the game guide, here is what I've gathered is necessary for Shepard to survive:

- At least 5k OVERALL readiness rating, which it seems you can only get by participating in the MP portion of the game OR as of today, getting the app from EA for iphone or ipad (it has a lil game where you can get the same results, but it'll take a lot longer).

- Must choose to destroy all synthetic life, including EDI and the geth (if you saved them).

- It also seems you need maxxed reputation. Don't think it matters if its paragon or renegade, and personally I've maxxed out my reputation in both my playthroughs without really even paying attention, but I have heard of this preventing some people from saving Shepard.

As for Anderson, I have no idea how to save him. Seems to be much less info on that. Hope this helps.

My Reputation bar is full, about 2/3 paragon, 1/3 renegade, still puzzled what i'm doing wrong.

I'm recalling my previous post. My hubby finished his first playthrough last night, and got the Shepard-alive ending with only 2k EMS. I have no idea how. Pawing through his game, the only major difference I noticed was that he left the Collector Base in ME2 to Cerberus, which I know does modify the requirements, but I wasn't under the impression it modified it THAT much...

I give up. Bioware 1, me 0.

I destroyed the Reapers, had my Galactic Readiness at 100% (which makes you EMS the same as you Estimated Military Strength) and my EMS was 7000 something

- Destroyed the Reapers
- Military Strength: 7138
- Galactic Readiness: 73%
- Estimated Military Strength: 5136
- Prevented Illusive Man to kill Anderson
- Anderson dies while watching Earth beside me
- 3 options tested: tried only blue responses and only red responses and only non-reputation responses
- A lot of Paragon reputation (probably full) and a bit of renegade
- Shepard imported from ME1 and ME2

Every time Shepard dies - there is no mini cinematic with N7 dogtag and armor.

What reputation did You have and what did You do during last conversation with TIM?
Tried again with 100% readiness and 7137 EMS and I didn't get Shepard alive cut scene.

i got through the second time with all the war assets i could 6000+ and had to get the galaxy of war up to 100% through MP.. oh god i hate that.. so damn boring.... anyway by doing that my shep lived in the end. on the first playthough i got nearly the same war assets without mp and he didnt live.. so it seems u are forced to do mp even tho they said u didnt have to..

edit: note that this wasnt a NG+ it was a new me1&2 import, different character.

u have to take all the either paragon or renegade options everytime u encounter TIM in order to get the final conversation with him and "save" Anderson. by letting TIM shoot himself i belive, then blow it up and he will survive.. thats what i did.
