Look, let's be real: I am upset at the ending. You are upset at the ending. It's not what we fought for, it's not what the game was leading towards. It took this incredible, 90-hour-long emotionally rich journey to a close with a hollow button-press choice and an unaffecting minute-long cutscene. It sucked.

But you know what made it even worse? How wondrous and breathtaking of an experience the rest of ME3 was. I know some people were disappointed in general, but for me it was the culmination of everything Mass Effect was meant to be. So I say let's forget about the troubles of the ending for one thread, and remember everything in the game that made us love it so much:

- The first time I got choked up was on Tochanka, driving away from the tower and watching it fall with Mordin inside, and the ME1 title screen music playing over the top. I truly appreciated the beauty of that song for the first time.
- The way romantic relationships were re-introduced was (for me at least) very satisfying. I loved hearing Shepard and Tali flirt during one of the missions, only to have Garrus say "Okay look, I was around when you two had your thing. Just get a room."
- Seeing Jack in a role that fit her so well, yet allowed her to do some good in the world, was great to see. I enjoyed her character very much in this game, and every other character got their dues as well.
- The Prothean DLC was absolutely worth the $10, especially to witness the conflict as Liara struggled to accept the reality of what the Prothean civilization was actually like. And this leads me to possibly my favorite moment in all of the Mass Effects combined:
- Tali drunk-dialing a Prothean. I mean, I can't believe I'm typing that sentence. "You liiiiike her!" "You are intoxicated." "You like me toooo."

And those are just to name a few. What were some moments that you loved?

I really can't think about the stuff that I loved. The end tainted everything.

-I really enjoyed the Citadel coup mission. It was fun.
-Purgatory. That music was awesome.
-Kaidan's new look is really nice.
-Although they had minor roles, seeing everyone from ME2 was nice.
-Thane. ;_;
-Tali getting drunk about Miranda.
-Some of the romance scenes.

Liara's Gift to Shep on earth. Friendship version, most compassionate thing i saw in the game at a personal level.

Reuniting with Ashley? I don't know. Ending kinda ruined everything.

The fact the crew moved in the ship and the citadel.
The Garrus romance was awesome.

At the moment I am too disappointed with the ending though to really think positively about the game...

I loved most of the game. No complaints until the god/child/reaper thing and the ending.

Think of this as a funeral. We just witnessed a loved one die and it sucks and there's no getting over that, but we can also try and remember the good times. Believe me, I'm doing this to try and stave off my crushing depression.

Some others I just thought of:

- Facing off one-on-one against a Reaper. Holy ****. Probably the most epic boss fight I've ever been a part of.
- Watching a Reaper get taken down by the Thresher Maw. Again: holy ****.
- Hearing something different from the door guards every time I walked out of the war room. Just a small example of how rich and deep the background characters were in this game.

Oh man, absolutely loved that one. Even thou my shep romanced ashley (from ME1), you can tell there is a very strong and lasting bond with Liara. And then, 1 hour later...:(

You summed up my thoughts pretty well OP. I am loving the game itself, even though I still have complaints that I will probably be vocal about.

The general atmosphere of the game was amazing. Fighting in the trenches with all of our characters, the feeling of war and the increase story focus.

I love it all. Which makes what is disappointing sting a little more.

It did a job of conveying war for a video game.  It was interesting that the advertised Suicide Mission was possible to 'ace', while the War wasn't.

I keep thinking of more. This is therapeutic for me actually.

- Grunt coming out alive after the Rachni mission. "Anyone got something to eat?"
- "I'm Garrus and this is my favorite spot on the Citadel!"
- Hearing Legion refer to himself as "I", right before his sacrifice.

-Enjoyed how the intro was made, really made me want to save the Earth, really good music and shepard expression when the shuttles exploded was awesome.

-Taking down reapers

-The talking you have with your squad mate and LI (Kaidan in my case) at the camp before the last attack. They all add beautiful things to say and my femshep was really emotional with Kaidan which made me cry.

-The music

-Everything about Liara. Seriously, I romanced her in the previous games and just it felt like everything finally came full circle. It felt genuinely like . . . love. You can definitely feel the affection between her and my female Shepard.

-Tali getting drunk, no doubt. Laughed my ass off.

-Garrus and Shepard shooting contest on the Citadel. Great way to close off that relationship.

-Mordin and Legion's death. The music in those scenes made me cry.

-Anderson's death. Touching.

-Fall of Thessia.

-Opening Earth mission. Epic.

-Talking to all your current and former companions on Earth at the end made me cry for like 30 minutes straight. I had to walk around to shake off the tears. It felt good to be with them at the end. For me that is where Mass Effect truly ended. Everything after was just . . . [sigh].

- Tali being drunk. ("...and an emergency induction tube." "It's a straw." "Emergency induction tube.")

- walking in on Tali and Garrus making out (pretty much the best moment ever)

- Mordin's death. I sang the rest of the song for him. And typing this up is making me tear up again for his sake.

- FemShep and Kaidan talking at the end, assuming they were in a relationship. Man. I could make it through what everyone else said, but... I never felt closer to him than right there.

- the music in general. For some reason, I can't stop listening to Purgatory's (been listening to it on loop for an hour now), but it was all really fantastic.

- the voice acting. The emotional bits (and the funny bits!) were both handled exceptionally. Poor voice acting can kill emotional moments or good writing. Thank you, Bioware, for making sure this didn't happen!

- NO PLANET SCANNING.

EDIT: Also, shooting stuff from the top of the Presidium Tower with Garrus (a bro to the end) and Grunt surviving. I had just lost Mordin, and I couldn't face losing Grunt too, so I was so happy he lived!

There was also Thane's death. That... was really, really well-done. I still can't get over him praying for Shepard in the end. And man, did it ever make it satisfying to stab Kai Leng.

Not finished with the game yet, but I love the fact that crew members move around the ship, to different areas, and the Citadel as well. Seems much more realistic.

-Garrus. Everything Garrus, especially that scene with Garrus, Legion and calibrations
-Kaidan romance
-squad script. While I wasn't happy with Shep's dialogue/lack of choice, I thought just about everything your team said was spot on perfect
-surprisingly, Vega.

-Jennifer Hale's performance. Magical.
-Femshep/Liara payoff
-Shooting bottles like a couple of drunk teenagers with Garrus
-Stepping out on to Palaven's moon and seeing the scope of the planet and the reapers and...jeez
-Vega! He didn't suck! And my imported Shepard's name was Lola!
-The shot of Shepard and Anderson looking at Earth from the Citadel. Should have ended there.

I loved almost everything about it, especially the character interactions, emotional investment, and score.

Oh...and I also loved the ending.

My first import wasn't named Lola but I do have a Renegade Lola Shepard waiting for her chance at ME3 too :D
