I'm curious for other opinions.  Should Nihilus' name be on the Memorial Wall?

He was barely on the ship, but we can say the same about Jenkins.

But there is a bit of difference in that Nihilus wasn't exactly a member of the crew, just a spectre overseeing the ship/mission.

I just can't help but feel that it can be potentially appropriate [and may have made for a good Spectre Authorization moment].

It's "Nihlus", He deserves to be on that wall, if it wasn't for him Shepard wouldn't become a Spectre.

I was wondering about this too after we hear that Kelly was killed during the Cerebus raid of the Citadel.

He was arguably the first major casualty of the Reaper War

That it is.  Although I imagine I will never get it right in my head :).

He was never part of the Normandy crew.

Nihlus was never really a member of Normandy's crew, though... which is what the wall was for.

Kelly should be on there though if she died. I never came across her in my playthrough... alive or dead.

Is there any significance to the names on the memorial wall? I have a low res TV so I can't read them. Are they all characters from the game, like people who died in the suicide mission, or are some of them deceased friends of the developers like Blizzard's Michel Koiter?

No, he wasn't an actual crew member.  And besides....I never liked putting my life in the hands of a turian anyway.

They are all Normandy Crew members that died during the three games.

The names on the wall that you probably don't recognize are the 20 people whose nametags you recover from the SR1 crash site in ME2.

They're crew members.  Richard L. Jenkins is listed there, for instance.

Of course, there are more names listed than named crew members, so Bioware obviously had to make up some names.  But your guess is as good as mine as to the source of those names.

The memorial wall IS A JOKE.

The Alliance didn't even bother to examine the wreckage of the SR1. As far we know Shepard was the only one who went back to the SR1 crash site to locate the remains and gather the dog tags of those lost in the destruction of the first Normandy.

So NOW all of sudden they care who died?

I don't see how it's a joke at all. It's Shepard's ship, it's members of HIS crew that he lost in this war, so it's paying respect to the fallen. Maybe Anderson requested they put in the wall or even Ashley. It's a nice way of remembering all the people from all 3 games that you've lost, even that poor son-of-a-b**** Jenkins. I thought it was very thoughtful and loved that when Mordin and even Legion's names appeared when they died they were put up on there. I actually got even more emotinal seeing their names on the wall after their death scenes.

But as for the OP's statement, I was also curious as to why Nihilus wasn't on the wall too. I mean, I guess it is just for people of Shepard's crew over the past 3 games, and since he never was an actual part of the crew, he didn't belong, but I think it would of been fitting to put the first actual major casualty of the war on there.

Donnelly and Adams tell you that Cerberus executed her on the citadel during the raid if you visit engineering.

The SR-2 wasn't an Alliance ship until recently, and most of those names are people who died when the SR-1 when down.

On a different note: of course Jenkins deserves to be there.  We only got to see him for a short time, but it is implied that he had been on the Normandy for some time prior to that (in ME2, Chakwas even tells a couple of stories about him).

The Wall would have been awesome if it had been updated throughout your playthrough. I was disappointed it couldn't add names as the game went. Mordin should have been on the Wall

She is, on my save file.
And, yes, I ran into her in ME3 - she did not die in ME2.
It wasn't immediately after you hear about her death, but her name was on the wall before I hit the point of no return.
