Reading the Forums I'm glad I'm not the only one who has issues with the ending. The content of the main ending (The whole Cruicible/synergy/control/destroy thing) isn't -that- bad. I do agree that there should be a 4th option (The 'Our own Destinies' option) due to all the work put into building up and allied force, EDI, The geth allied with the Quarians - basically showing that it doesn't -have- to be the way the Reapers see it. Showing an unthought of new path.

Which is the problem, right there. The Writers didn't think of that. They wanted a moment when the main character sacrificed themselves for the Galaxy - and I can see that. It's a dramatic point, and done right can bring us to tears. But....... the endings are too inconsistant with the rest of the game. And having Shephard survive can be just as dramatic - after all, things need to be rebuilt after, and showing some elements of that could have worked equally as well.

The only other game that has ever left me feeling so... dissapointed in an ending, ever, was Halo 2. Halo 2 felt incomplete.

This just feels stupid.

I have been a member of this forum, for a really long time. Since the second Neverwinter Nights (Not the SSI one, but the Bioware one). I've never been -this- dissapointed in an ending, ever. Not by bioware, not by Microsoft. Halo 2's ending was better, by far - at least we -knew- that there was more to the store in that case.

This just feels like a cheap cop out. A poor excuse for an ending that is neither satisfying nor appealing.

I'm not likely to buy another Bioware game as a result. As a protest. Someone else meantioned cancelling thier SWTOR subscription - I may do that as well.

I have in my head visions of what could have been added to one of the three 'cannon' endings to make it palatable. But only just barely. Honestly, the best awnser would be a 4th ending - one where it's a matter of convincing the cruible personality to leave us to our own destinies - that Synthetic and Organic live can evolve to that stage of Synthisis on it's own - shape it's own destiny, with out the intervention of the reapers.

On another note - a thing about epic endings to trilogies - and I aim this at Bioware staff - when you fail, after such a long build up, in an ending, you loose so much credability. It's 100 times more devistating to your reputations as story tellers to have such a long build up, only to fail to fulfill to deliver a satisfying end to a game series.

The more I think about this ending, the more of a bad taste it leaves in my mouth.

What do you think about the EC now?

PS I am sorry about your disappointment. Bioware has tried to fix this with the EC DLC.

I thought it was less bitter and slightly (very slightly) more sweet personally.

You're right, no one can question your art.

That actually is pretty good.
