Oh I know it was intentional. Didn't stop it from being goddam boring though.

It was very carefully written. But, yeah, I can understand if you found it boring. It's really a story that's not meant to be read so much as analyzed.

I only spend time analyzing stories that I give a damn about, hence why I am here, rather than discussing classic literature.

I think you misunderstand. I'm not disagreeing with you.

Just noticed something weird.. but the first time you go to the citadel in ME3 it makes a point to show you the exact place you will be standing on when making your final decision (the place the crucible connects to)

still when they knocked shepard out on arrival they could've done any number of stuff to him or her to make the indoctrination undetectable and like others have mentioned earlyer and you're probably right about the prothean cypher but just as speculation cause the protheans can't sense indoctrination well because their wouldn't have been sleeper agents that caused their destruction and cause them to lose the war if they could.

well isn't the whole begining of me3 where shepard is grounded is because of the destruction of the relay in the batarian system? so I'm pretty sure that the stuff in arrival would still count even if you haven't personally played it.

Not exactly sure. But I do know in the demo is talked about the arrival.. so maybe it is considered canon. All I know is there was no mention of the events for me. It only states he's grounded for his ties with cerberus and stuff like that.

I think we should rule out the Arrival evidence that could directly influence Shepard's indoctrication. As far as I'm aware, if you didn't download and play The Arrival in ME2, Shepard is assumed not to have taken part in that mission in ME3. So he wouldn't have come in contact with the device, and so on....

I don't think Bioware can assume everyone played The Arrival, and if they did they would have made it canon anyway in ME3, clearly stating Shepard was in fact involved in the mission even if you as the player did not take part.

well anywho if indoctrination happend the damn shepard got mind screwed if not then well bioaware just gave us terrible endings maybe because they were rushed or because they had to hurry to get it done either way I hope we will find out the real case shortly

we can assume to some extent that at least some of Shepard implants might be reaper tech. That in my opinion is where the indoctrination begins.

Ok I'm confused now lol. I think we need confirmation of Arrival canon in ME3.

I always interpreted that as Shepard williingly working for Cerberus, the infamous terrorist organisation.

Hopefully this doesn't turn out like the BF3 beta annoucnement, where we get an announcement in April that they will give us more information in May.

'Arrival' and the events played out in that DLC are mentioned by a couple of NPCs in ME3, the Batarian terrorist who's life support you turn off in the refugee camp, and the Batarian who puts a gun to the back of your head in the refugee camp, the same Batarian you encounter in ME1 DLC with the asteroid, sorry for the lack of names and detail, but you know which ones I mean, I hope.

Do they blame shepard for it in all cases?

But do those specifically reference Shepard taking part in The Arrival events, or just some run-of-the-mill Alliance squad? That's what I'm not sure about.

While the whole Arrival DLC thing sure does point to the indoctrination theory for sure, I'd be willing to except that all the Reaper exposure over the 3 games is a good enough reason too. TIM took years to go totally bonkers and he bumped into Reaper tech less than Shep. Or am I making that up?

I believe they did mention shepard and directed their hatred to him or her

The way I see it, Shepard was indoctrinated by Object Rho.. If the player never did arrival, it changes to "all your time spent aroud reapers" simple dialog change.. same result.

Seriously though, disregarding all in-game evidence, if you look at the real life evidence, in particular dev quotes, with the underlying message of indoctrination, the quotes make more sense... maybe they weren't lying after all...
