But I must admit I don't go down to the cargo bay very much to check on Vega because he usually doesn't have much to say, so I could have missed an earlier mention of the hum.

So, are you guys ignoring the Final Hours app and the supposed post by Patrick Weekes?
The Weekes leak was a confirmed fake.
As for Final Hours, I wouldn't say most are ignoring it; they're just doing mental gymnastics to explain it away.
I, for one, have never even heard of this Final Hours thing.

Weekes= Fake.
Final Hours was talking about gameplay mechanics- which was what they scrapped and also, if you realise the ending has no real gameplay to it (other than some walking). I reckon the simple fact that they were leaning towards Indoctrination as a possible endgame gives this theory some strength.

It's also worth mentioning that when you wake up from the 2nd "dream" you have a datapad in your hand and it appears as though you are standing up...... from what I remember anyway.
Edit: Thus proving it more as a hallucination than a dream.. Unless Edi turned the gravity field off because Shepard likes to sleep standing up...
Lots of speculation!
I thought Shep had fallen asleep with a datapad in her hand.

so, what did any of you all pick- just trying to get an idea here of IDs actual strength on players...
Went Red on first plathrough, though tempted towards green.
Blue was always out of the question, everything I had seen convinced me the Reapers could not be controlled.
Green I was leaning more towards, but Legion called me back. His talk about how the Geth wanted to choose for themsleves, wanted to be themselves without the influence of others made me stop. If I choose Green, Synthesis, I was going against the Geth belief even if it was to save them...and I was also choosing for the entire galaxy.
That was my wakeup call and I knew something was wrong (always felt of, but that was when I truly sawthrough it). Blowing that pipe up was easy after that.
Oh and hello all, managed to get a bit of internet for making this update. Still holding the line.

It's an app that anti idt people take as canon. Saying the ending at face value is canon due to what the app states.
The supposed ending they cut was an actual indoctrination sequence where sheperd loses control and is fully indoctrinated by harbinger.. but they couldn't figure out how to make it work and implement dialogue choices inside of it.
The fact that they considered indoctrination makes it much more likely. Just because they scrapped the mechanic does not mean they scrapped the idea. It's basic human instinct to find new ways to make something work. That's what has allowed us to thrive the last few hundred years. I think Bioware are more than capable of displaying this instinct.

Bioware made an announcement that the app was not cannon therefore not affecting the ME story at all

Even if the Weeke's thing was true... still doesn't necessarily debunk indoctrination.

I strongly support this theory but have you guys seen that when you are about to leave earth in the start, a shuttle opens in the air close to normandy this airborne shuttle contains none other than Kai Leng (is it his name) The assassin you encounter later and whom is indoctrinated. Why is he on earth?
Other than that I think we covered upp almost all evidence brought forward...
I am not mad at Bioware for this ending. Infact I found it to be great when you consider this theory. All sacrifice for nothing but a glimpse of what to happen, the sadnees and fact that not even shpehard could manage to save the world from burning to ashes, and his fate dead or alive depends on if you choose to succumb or fight the very thing you swore to destroy!
I just cant se another explanation. I have followed Bioware since baldurs Gate 2 and this is kinda the way they write if you consider It they almost always have this deeper layer of thought behind their story! I wanna use a space magick smiley to
(another sidenot I love all these funny smileys you can use muhahah)

Wait, are you doing an April Fools prank on us with the Kai Leng thing? Cause I definitely don't remember seeing him. If not, wow, I need to go back and play the beginning again.

Whoa, is this real? Can anyone else confirm? I don't know if it lends any credence to IT, but it would still be an interesting find.

Indeed... and at 2:59 the kid fingers are under the soldier's foot...
I have to admit it's odd that nobody help him climb the shuttle, but that doesn't prove anything. Perhaps no interference was decided by the writers to keep the drama eye-to-eye link between him and Shepard... I don't know...
I prefer to wait and see, than speculate about a indoctrination theory that not even their creator, Bioware, are able to explain without any doubts during the game and especially at the end...
Edit: Another thing that puzzle me is why it took so long for the Normandy to close the shuttlebay door. Probably to be sure that we'd see what happens to the kid shuttle. Probably a storytelling decision...

While many people do post a lot of information to fit the theory, when it's clearly not (i.e. kid's sweatshirt being the eyes of Harbinger. lolwat?) I do question why you seem so adamant against it though? Unless it's due to people spouting it off as fact when it clearly isn't fact( ID theory).
If you are so adamant against it because of how people present it, I don't blame you, but statements like that aren't very helpful to discussion, or, well, anything really.

By what standard, exactly? What makes one bit of pure speculation better than another bit of pure speculation?
