Are people actually considering that the phony child in the start of the game is real? And that Shepard fell down to earth after two explosions as well as with a lack of shields and armor? IDT or not.. are we actually seriously considering that?

What? Are you saying YOU can't survive an uncontrolled reentry into the Earth's atmosphere, while lacking a sealed suit and have an explosion the size of a city engulf you?

Rookie.

Nobody is saying that.

...Nobody but Jayne is saying that.

The kid has to be real at least the first time you see him. After that, doubtful, but an idea as specific as a kid playing on a roof with a model ship couldn't just be planted in Shep's head without him knowing something is up. I hope.
And falling through the atmosphere wearing just what was left after Harby's blast, well, that's just silly. And nevermind all the crap floating around the planet. The codex mentions kinetic barriers being required to pass through all of it, it's so thick.

Exactly. And shouldn't Bioware have people double checking the lore after so many games?
I mean Blizzard got a 'Fact Checker' guy after ahwhile for the Warcraft lore.

Heck, the Master Chief barely survived the fall to Earth while in FULL armor, without an explosion, AND with a metal plate to partially absorb the heat from the fall.  Shepard may be more awesome, but you're pushin' what I can believe if you think he can.  BTW I know you were just joking, I'm just saying this for everyone who DOES think it's possible.

In the artbook that comes in the CE of ME3 , they describe some of the modular assets they used for Rannoch as "industrial looking with modular stainless steel sections similar to the Lloyd's of London building"

Now, google  Lloyd's of London

Now,
during the last sequence when Shepard takes a breath you should notice a
specific "modular stainless steel section"  3d asset that takes on a
very similar shape.  What we have thought of as rebar but oddly
different in pattern but very similar to the Lloyd's of London.

It may be another hint to help us link to the concept of Shepard never leaving London...or he just never felt Rannoch! =D

Plus, there's that odd piece in the middleground that sort of looks like the hood of a car with two silver stripes...

Now, trolls go crazy!

I think whether he is real in that first scene or not at all isn't really significant. But if he was never real, then they had this planned all along and the opening scene of the game was indoctrination, right under our noses..Posted Image

haha gold. and with a full extraction... +15,000 xp for you...

Edit: Seriously though, Did anyone ever think that Shepard is still a cyborg? And that while that would still be impossible to survive re-entry etc... (stress the etc...) It would explain how she could survive a blast by harby. I'm about to do end soon, but as I recall it doesn't hit Shep in the face or anything lol.

I think It's important to remember that when we see Shepard watching that boy Shepard has been ...... off work for six months. She/he has had time to reflect on every thing. After what Shepard has been through it makes sense that She/he would spend time watching children at play. It may not even be the first Shepard has watched that particular child. And, it was the last happy thought She/he had before the s*** hit the fan. The perfect thought for the reapers to manipulate the moment they get to Earth.

What if... when Shepard woke up he saw the Reapers leaving?

You mean it was still a dream world BUT he really was choosing a solution and then waking up to see his results in real life. So he was playing a videogame in his head to affect the real world. Hm.

My head. :crying:

Actually that was along the same lines I was thinking when I first beat the game and before I came here to look for input and read this thread.... So yeah....... :?

It's too obvious that Shepard is comatose at the end or something, or they would not have made Shep so hard to control (slow motion/limp/no abilities/one gun), it's far too dream like to not have been a dream.

The question is are the control and synthesis options really actually happened anyway because of Shep's inner dialogue with the Reapers (star child)? It's no debate whether if the destruction option worked for real.

Yeah I could semi buy it in ME2 becuase kinetic shields, armor, max velocity. With max velocity it does not matter that he fell from orbit, theres still a max speed his body would fall once in the atmosphere so would be like a sky diver that his suit did not open and theres been cases of the body remaning in one peice (as in you could still reconize it as a body, and was not a splat on the ground)

Here is a list of impossible things shepard had to survive through to 'live' for destroy ending provided it was reality
1) The explosion in the face by standing right infront of the tube when it explodes.
2) Te explosion on citadel that we clearly see starting from center, where shepard would have been
3) vacum of space with no sheilds/suit to protect him
4) burning up through atmosphere with no sheilds/suit or if biotic barriers to pro tect him
5) no air during the fall through space
6) The 'landing' on earth

Separd is one mean(shut your mouth) but I doubt he can survive all that with damaged and exposed armor and no sheilds

Yes, precisely. Using the image of the kid in Shep's mind is great. Planting it there, I can't see. Shepard would know something was off. Maybe especially after a few months of rest, relaxation, and reflection on all that had transpired so far.

In other not-news, that image of the 4 'wheels' on the citadel that keeps popping up next to the picture of the crashed Mako, well, the Mako has 3 to a side, right? Same for its predecessor the Grizzly. So draw conclusions about a connection there, one should not, I think. Unless I'm being dense. In which case, enlighten me!

I have a new theory. I'd bet that the ending and the indoctrination of Shepard is a setup for a follow up game with Major Coates as the main character. The fight isn't finished, Shepard has been captured, injured, or turned, and this sniper guy with way too much screen time for such an otherwise small role is supposed to pick up the pieces in a story-concurrent DLC that extends the take back earth story and helps to wrap up the ending better.

Nah. That'd be silly.

IF it was indeed a dialogue in limbo, I imagine choosing Control or Synthesis would have the Reapers do what they were set out to - destroy everything. Why would the Reapers grant such options? They were only TIM's and Saren's pipe dreams at the first place.

hey, I just had a thought from wild speculation;

Is there anything to suggest that (if it was all a dream) the illusive man did actually find a way to control the reapers?.. not them specifically but found a way to incorporate their science to make others follow him and that's what all the implants are on all the other cerberus agents...

Therefore, after you wake up in the rubble maybe you and TIM could team up to bring down Harbinger and the reapers but after that he has one of his tyrant rampages and you have to kill him aswell?

Edit: Or In some way TIM dies during the battle, therefore being remembered as good, I think that would be a great end for TIM/ Jack Harpe, better than just shooting himself in the face like Saren.

Peace for all?

oh look, I think I built a strawman....Posted Image

I think, repeat, think, the point people are trying to make there is that the whole ending is a construct of Shepards mind, and that by comparing the architecture to shapes and forms that Shepard would be familiar with it lends evidence to that point.

Which would be logical. But as much as I want it to be true it's possible Bioware hasn't followed that logic. (or any some would say :P

What I REALLY want to know, is where do the Reapers originate from? It doesn't look like we'll get those answers any day soon and maybe that's what many where looking forwards to as well, and instead we're left with this catalyst thing..
