Well your guy talks in Da2, just that you're not the warden anymore, and I think that is a big reason why so many didn't like DA2. (including other things)
Going to have to disagree there. Vehemently. DA2's failure was hardly in that we got a new main character. It was in a storyline that made little sense, characters (including the main character) having to be complete idiots and not see blindingly obvious things, and choices pretty much being non-existent. The most rage inducing, IMO, was on multiple occasions you have an antagonist doing something that warrants their death, they're right in front of you, you're fully capable of killing them, you even get "I'll kill you" type of dialogue options. But you have to just let them walk away for no reason other than the plot gods saying so. DA2 deserves every bit of criticism it gets, and the main character change had exactly zero to do with it.
If someone wants to try DA2, it probably won't be bad as long as you go into it with the proper mindset. Realize upfront that the story is set in stone. Don't expect your choices to matter because they don't. Everything will play out exactly the same regardless. If you enjoy Final Fantasy types where the story is set in stone, you'll probably enjoy DA2.

FemShep/Liara is the best romance in the game imo.
Someone's going to kill me for this but... Liara's skin texture kills her romance for me. It's
leathery.
*sigh* I wish they'd have included a human female option that I never wanted to throw out the airlock.

I have a new theory. I'd bet that the ending and the indoctrination of Shepard is a setup for a follow up game with Major Coates as the main character. The fight isn't finished, Shepard has been captured, injured, or turned, and this sniper guy with way too much screen time for such an otherwise small role is supposed to pick up the pieces in a story-concurrent DLC that extends the take back earth story and helps to wrap up the ending better.
Nah. That'd be silly.
You know, that's not super-farfetched. I did get the sense that Coates was being set up for something. He seemed "significant."
Every BW game I've ever played has let you choose the sex and appearance of the main character.

Discounting my theory that they went through the Conduit?
They went through the wrong way of a one-way relay? That would be a neat trick.
You should play the first Mass Effect sometime. It's a good game.

You'd also have to wonder how Shep could control ANYTHING when he is a puddle of ash. Because, you know, he completely gets dissolved. The starchild was talking about how he would become something else, but...
I think the notes they gave Prima for the guide are still true and they just made it more subtle. "If you choose to become a Reaper". Well, you could certainly control a Reaper if you were one right? =/

I had an off topic question maybe you can answer. Is the 15yr old girl that the suicidal Asari in the hospital is talking about, Joker's sister?
Yes. And the other farmers are the rest of his family.
