" If it has been confirmed that Normandy never made it to the Sol relay, does thaat mean that paradise planet has to be somewhere in our system?"

Well seems to me, that the answer is already in the question. since the normandy did not reach the relay...it cannot be in another cluster. maybe it's not exactly in sol system...butt must be in the local cluster.

The only world capable of sustaining life in the Sol system is earth.

I don't think there has been an official announcement, but I - and many others - think that an announcement about the endings will be made at PAX this weekend.  (Penny Arcade eXpo)

So...while onlyspeculation, it seems to make sense:
1. Illusive man gets the intel he needs from the prothean vi..deletes it and creates a decoy one, to lure shepard and the allied forces into a trap, while he is away getting his cerberus on.
2. Omega (which looks like the crucible) is in fact a leftover crucible built by the protheans, is currently occupied by cerberus forces.
3. The beam is in fact a reaper indoc device (huskification device...whatever). And as hrby always wanted shepard, he used the indoctrinated tim to lure shepard right into that thing.

Am i missing something?

Well I read the mass effect book and it was stated that omega was made of the same near-indestructable material of the mass relays and citadel- so it couldnt of been made by the protheans- it was made by the reapers.

edit: i looked this up, and it seems to contradict what the book said (wierd.)
 http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Omega

Remember that the in-game Codex is what people know at that point, Sovereign
was once described as a "Geth ship".

The prothean did make themselves a mini mass relay (the conduit). Perhaps they hid something inside Omega =D.

"Lots of speculation from everyone"

I am actually looking forward to Friday more than I was to ME3's release date.

nevermind..... i went back to the book and it said it was first buit by the protheans..... my bad. :P

Yeah but there may be other worlds in nearby sytems. they did not leave local cluster since they did not reach the relay. but you do not need relays to travel between system. unless sol sytem is the sole system (pun intended) in the local cluster...then you can flag my posts as bs.

If it didn't have enough time to reach the Sol relay how could it move onto another system?

EDIT: sorry wrong quote -__-. I was replying to the person who said the Normandy may have been in another system within the local cluster.

A continuation DLC wouldn't change what is currently there.  That's the whole point.

Miranda: "I am perfect in every single way.... just saying..."

That plus her freaky jaw and her annoying posh accent, tops it up for me, personally :)

Really? Man that accent is amazing in my books. As for Liara, she annoyed me when I started playing in 2007, and hasnt changed since.. Oh well, to each its own! I do admit Yvonne Strahovski is hotter than Miranda.. with the exception of a certain part of her body ofcourse lol.

My point exacrly, but i think what pirate(insert numbers) is getting at.
Since the normandy had no time to reach relay, it is unlikely it could have reached the system's "border" in time, since it is usually behind the relay.

No, it must be within the Sol system. The closest star besides Sol is thousands of times further away than the relay. If they didn't make it to the relay, they didn't make it to even the closest neighboring star. And yet, it's obviously not within the Sol system. Hence either Bioware failed 3rd grade science, or they're hinting to us that it's all in Shepard's head.

This could be making a lot of sense in regarding to the DLC explaining better the endings, also the fact that when the game is over, you restart just after the Cerberus mission.

Meaning that if you chose to do the Retake Omega before the last mission, you will unlock a part of the story that explains that maybe the Crucible is a Reaper's trap.. it would actually make lots of sense if you think about it.

You find the final secret so maybe you need to pick a different route toward the end, which does not involve connecting the Crucible to the Citadel.
