I was in a PUG and one of the guys kept congradulating us all on what a great job we were doing after EVERY WAVE. On bronze.
Then was yelling at us during extraction to get to the LZ even when we had 1 min left. He was yelling "GET TO THE EXTRACTION POINT FOR MORE POINTS!!!!" over and over.
I didn't have my mic set up or I would have said something back...
On bronze? Lul! What a dork.
And the worst part was his N7 rating was like 25 while the rest of the team was over 100. Clearly we were more experienced than he was and he was constantly giving us all pointers.
Guess who had the lowest point total too? YUP - He did.

Soldier in MP (way different than soldier Shepard) is like playing Superman too. Except every enemy is a kryptonite golem.

You know that building in London where you get to talk to your squad one last time before talking to Anderson to start the final push? I think it's in the room past the medics where Liara is. It's a small and very dark room.

My 2nd MP match, on bronze of course, I ran into levels of nerdrage I haven't seen in years. I got called a... you know that word that offends pretty much every woman on Earth? Yeah, that. Because I used a medi-gel to get up and help dps a wave of enemies that was about to take us out. Guy wanted the revival badge. Badly, apparently.
Needless to say, I not only play without my own mic, I have voice chat shut off entirely. Just not worth it. I don't play gold because it probably requires some degree of communication, but I'll be happy in silver if it means not having to deal with wastes of life like that.

totally understand the mic thing. I don't really use mine, either.
Speaking of either, my account is Either_Ardrey (or some variation of
it). You should see the request in about 5.5 hours or so.
When it
does happen, we could just shoot each other a bunch and post our
findings, if that's preferable. Bypass the mic entirely.[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]
I'll add you as soon as I get home from work. I use my lunch break to catch up here.
"Lets get together to shoot each other in the face a bunch!"
"YES! That sounds like a great idea!"
"But lets not talk to each other!"
"Of course not!"
I'm imagining a conversation like this taking place between two soldiers in real life.
Oh, you would be surprised by the conversations soldiers have.

I... I'm shocked. Every interaction I've had with IT supporters so far has been negative and confrontational. Because of the reaction I received to my post on page 1173, I feel I must apologize for any of the confrontational and/or negative undertones it has toward or against the IT crowd. I still don't believe IT and no matter what BioWare says I will never be convinced it was the intended story progression, but it's clear (now) I've only encountered the fanatical morons until today. Thank you to those that are kind and friendly about this topic.
What others said plus:
Heya Caz. Yeah some people on both sides of the debate are a bit ovely zealous. Plus the ending fiasco has lots of people up in arms anyway. Lots of the stuff they cite as "evidence" is a bit of a stretch to say the least.
As it is now: I am convinced they either planned indoctrination like this or they planned it and then scrapped it.
It is certainly memorable in anycase.
You never know, they might have left the ending on the disc and are waiting to unlock, there are some odd discrepancies bettween install sizes from the PC to 360/PS3.
As Domanase said put forward some counter arguments and the thread will try and address them.
Except the prothean VI detecting indoctrination, the thread gets that one every 6-12 hours. (Argument against is that the prothean didn't have perfect indoctrination detection, that was why they were defeated through indoctrinated double-agents; Javik goes on about this)

Apparently there's a datapad in a room near Liara and Javik when you're on Earth preparing for the final attacks. I haven't found out exactly what it says anywhere though.
I have a feeling this has been discussed already, if so, I'd appreciate if someone clarified what that datapad said.

A datapad you can find while fughting through noman's land (or on your way to anderson after landing on earth). it say something like "the people coming back from thee are not themselves anymore) refering to the beam. which i think is not a teleport beam or one way mass relay, but a reaper indoc device.
Has anyone confirmed this?

When in a Public game with random people, it ends up being more of an annoyance than anything.
If I was playing with friends I knew personally, then I'd be all for the mic. Using the mic to organize tactics would be useful, especially on higher difficulties.
In random public matches, it's all "Whooo! Yeah! 'Just whupped your Atlas ass with mah FACE! Dude, that should be an achievement."

I had this theory all along.. I was thinking... it reminds me of object rho a litle bit. So if the datapad confirms the potential that it's a indoc device then I think that is definitely evidence towards our cause.

I remember picking up that datapad. There were quite a few datapad's that hinted at indoctrination in that area. There was only one that actually stated that people come back changed though. Most of the hints near the end were just subtle.BinaryHelix101 wrote...

I'm pretty sure that i read every datapad on earth, and i don't remember anything about indoctrination beams.
But it might be possible i missed one of course.

This is why the I.T. ending/cliffhanger can be so cool, it's a psychological thriller, horror, mystery.
I think it just failed in the sense that it tried to do all that in just the last 15 minutes.

the datapad says that people went into the beam and when they came back they weren't the same. It doesn't get any more specific though.

You must be the kind of person who walks into IHOP and demands they only sell pancakes.
Or goes crazy in the Staples store when you see they sell pencils too.
And I don’t even want to think of your reaction when you go into a BJ’s store….

I don't know if anyone has brought this up, but an interesting bit of trivia on the hum that Vega comments on aboard the Normandy. In ME1, when you explore the citadel and find the replica of a relay, the VI guide says that no one knows why it is there and says it's assumed the Protheans built it. If you walk up to it, Kaiden asks if anyone hears that hum. I don't recall if you have to talk to him there, or if it is an automatic remark that is played. In any event, it would seem that indoctrination could have started even prior to becoming a Spectre and after Eden Prime.
Yeah, it's been brought up.
What about that guy at the beginning of the game (On Eden Prime) who keeps going on and on about how the galaxy is going to be esploded? Those renegades who punched him ought to feel bad.

I'm not mad this went off-topic. This thread goes off-topic all the time, and it's bound to happen in a thread this big.
It's just frustrating to see some on-topic posts (like this datapad thing) get drowned in a sea of off-topic posts that belong to another forum.
Loved your reply though, made me smile.

Back a bit in the thread now but that bit was referencing the Conduit which links to that. (I think, haven't played ME1 in a long time)
