There's a reaper growl at the end of the VR level, you have to listen closely.

@Henioo  I noticed that too! it seemed like he was shielding his eyes and sumble a step back,

Jenifer Hale speaks about the endings.

That thread kinda covers everything we'd say here arguing about what exactly shemeant.

Roll on Friday when I am either really disappointed and never trust Bioware/EA to deliver/finish on decent games again or praise Bioware (and only them) for a truely excellent ARG experience.

Eh. That article says that Shep dies in every ending. So - Bull****?!

Actually there's a reaper growl everytime you destroy node connections- not all red ones, but the ones at data clusters that connect to a spherical things. Listen closely, as you destroy them there's a reaperish growl. Not harbinger's filter but a different one- less low pitched.

Hm garbage time i guess. i'll go back to another great playthrough, including another great gam freeze (it's not an ending..so i'm assuming the game just freezes everytime i pick on of those three choices) and try to come up with another, even more far fetched theory to kill time until pax. every major discovery has been made. my datapad theory seems to have been dismissed, so what else is there to do? Good night people.

Oh I didn't notice that, I missed the mission and had to watch it on youtube, so maybe it went lost in the quality.

Also, what I neglected to mention, right after the "covering eyes" animation, the screen goes white and fades out, both in the virtual reality of geth consensus and in London. :)

I don't think it has been dismissed - it was just drowned in other speculations.

If you're in for far fetched speculations, look at our "decoy VI, Omega is second crucible" discussion :)

Yes that too! This has probably nothing to do with anything but when Liara asks if Shep was okay he flat out ignored her and bluntly yells if it worked. so weird.

I have some 5.1 headphones that aren't too bad. Also picked up on the
sounds in the dreams as you approach the kid. The sound design in ME3 is
excellent- but it's easy to miss some stuff in the heat of the action.

On this vid you can just about hear it. Go to 09.23 for example. Same sound everytime you hit a clusternode.

High likelihood it is an old one. Or something to do with the crucible at least. If you're into the lore enough to read the books, you know that Omega's origins and true purpose have been a noteworthy mystery for years.

Fun fact for all: Omega and the crucible look similar because they were both designed to look like the same thing. First clue, it starts with "nuclear".

It's okay, only Commander Sam Shepard dies. Those of us that didn't name our Shepards "Sam" can still live.

I did a playthrough once just to try to find some places where I heard buzzing or ringing sounds with no apparent explanation. I stopped taking notes very early in because they're just goddamn everywhere.

I just want to say, several pages ago everyone was talking about the control ending and how it was odd the citadel arms closed. I know the topic has moved on a bit now, lol, but I'd like to add my bit it. I don't think anyone explicitly said this, but every cycle the reapers come in, take over the citadel and disable the relays or something.

It's been brought up a few times (in this topic and others) that it's odd that the reapers haven't disabled all relays through the game. I've seen people use it as evidence of sloppy writing by bioware.

But I was thinking, what if, as people have said, control is the ending where you give into the reapers. The citadel closes and is now under reaper control. The citadel seems to explode, but we don't actually get to see it like with the other two options, and so intead actually just sends out a pulse of energy. This is what hits the relays. In the synthesis/destroy endings, the relays are destroyed. The control ending shows the relays becoming damaged, but doesn't actually show them exploding. This might be the disabling of the relays, meaning they are repairable by the reapers in the long run.

This would explain some of the plot holes people are mentioning. However, it does have it's own plothole. I can't explain why the synthesis ending would be the same as destroy. It doesn't really make sense to me why, if IT is true, synthesis wouldn't lead to indoctrination?

Also, joker doesn't seem to look backwards in the control ending. I can't base this on anything, but he may be looking at Commander Shepard in the destroy ending. If there is some time between the crucible use and the normandy flying off, Joker may have picked Shepard up (explaining why your squad mates are there) but not in the control ending. Again, the synthesis one seems out of place though :|

Before i definitely go to bed, has anyone noticed how DON'T show the geth or any other synthetics dying when you choose the destroy option? Struck me as funny because with synthesis for example, the ending shows what star bratt tells you would happen. I'm also pretty tired, which means

1.no new plythrough, at least not today
2.

I've also heard people say that EDI walked out of the Normandy on their playthrough, even when they chose destroy.

I've never been able to replicate that though. Its always Liara and Javik for me.

Has anyone in the past 100 pages mentioned there are two types of indoctrination? One is the most common one that takes a very long time to get possessed and is manageable to resist and will show no signs and is subtle, the other is being injected with reaper tech like the Saren and the Illusive man were. In the books the reapers were able to take complete control over someone when injected with reaper tech, and takes them about a couple of days to a week for a complete transformation, they're able to completely control your actions and speech while you remain your consciousness at first but over time loose it until you've become just a vessel.

The Illusive man at the end was nearly fully taken over but was able resist one last time and use his own senses ( depending on your persuasive speech of course ) and end his life.

So to put it in simple terms, direct reaper tech approach is direct control and and the passive indoc just leans you over to their side and goals.

From what I understand about it (which, admittedly, isn't all that much), the squadmates that come out of the Normandy at the end are dictated by various statistics that are encountered throughout the entire game, and not just the end. L.I. status, frequency taken on missions, and frequency of being talked to, etc. could all be a part of the equation. So in other words, if you replay the end, and only the end, over and over again (from the same career/Shepard), you should have basically the same result.
