Well, it was quite obvious that they did not have a "secret ending" so to speak. Though i would not want to despise those who truly believed in IT, it was mostly grasping at straws unfortunately.
Besides, despite being a deus ex machina cliche(and of course the three colour thing), real major downside of the endings was lack of closure.
A few minor tweaks here and there and some closure should do just fine. For example; all starchild and stargazer stuff is quite meaningless and should be altered easily, thus making a good enough ending for the Mass Effect.
I'm not a Bioware fan anymore i think but, i also think we all should get over our disappointment and stop beating the crap out of them. They seem to be reacting to fanbase as best as they can. It has to count for something good when they have a company like EA looking over their shoulders.

Haha I did have a nice tinfoil hat comment about the release,of the statement and how it ties to indoctrination of the player. It would also explain why this was released today and not later.
This is so tinfoil hat and only the hardcore will believe, I personally think it's over, but I can give a conspiracy theory for you.
This last announcement is OUR test. Just like shep was given those choices after a traumatic moment we are standing at our choice. Do we give up on our beliefs, or do we struggle through and keep to our beliefs until the very end.
lance said there was something big. We have hope. More than we know.
So here's a bit of hope for those who still believe in bioware.

Oh my lord.
It's in development. Meaning, they didn't have some secret ending in the bag the whole time.

well, that is interesting.
And to be honest, we have not seen anything about the "dlc" on bioware.com easports.com or on their twitters or facebook page, have we?
Really. In ME1 we kicked the crap out of Sarin. In ME2 we took our crew through the Omega 4 relay and kicked the crap out of the collectors. In ME3 everyone who came to Earth to help us fight the reapers are now trapped there never to see their loved ones again. I realize your trying to be nice and I'm trying not to completely unload on you, but come on. This was worse than a bad ending. It was an ending full of hopelessness.creiGn wrote...
