Is it just me, or does there seem to be a load of backpeddling on twitter and that?
They said (or at least strongly hinted) that there would be a statement at PAX. Now it's all like "Pax? Who said anything about Pax? We're not even going to talk about the game there, who said we were?"

Well, they never told us they would disclose new content specifically at PAX. Actually it was like: here more from us in April and a lot of "this is going to be big" statements and since there was this panel at PAX, everybody assumed they would use that opportunity (which they still might - but that chance is pretty low).

However, it will be interesting to see how they talk themselves out of the "keep your savegames", "if you only knew what we're up to" when they actually release only a couple of additional cutscenes.

Seriously, the whole thing just makes me want to punch Casey and friends like Shepard punches al-Jilani.

I'm now thinking the whole 'keep your savegames' thing was just so that:
1) we'd spend more money on DLC
2) not sell our games, meaning there are less cheap second hand copies for others to buy
3) keep us subdued until enough other people bought the game that bad feedback doesn't matter.
4) they could unleash multiplayer DLC

ME3 seems less about the story (to me) and more about the shooting stuff :\\
Half of the game is multiplayer and not storyline (I'm going by singleplayer=50% readiness, the other 50% is from multiplayer)

Okay I forgot he outright says he is the Catalyst, that does make it confusing.. can only assume that prior races had got far enough to contact the A.I, learn its name, and record that information

That or it adopted the name Catalyst from Shepard's mind, just as it adopted the image of the child

I hope they make the ending a little less confusing, and bring in some better ending cinematics (and update the final assault cinematics to include all the races involved), but (doubting the indoctrination theory) I have to say I liked the strangeness of the ending, and that it came down to conversation and choice rather than combat (though more recognition of previous choices would be great, maybe that will come out in the end cinematics)

That would be really nice to see.

Don't really care.  You're doing the same thing regardless.  "My interpretation is right and anyone who disagrees is just having mental issues.  Also, I don't even remotely understand the Kübler-Ross model I'm using as a basis for this."

Golferguy is one of the biggest supporters of IT in the thread though :?

Thank you, and yes, while I may be a little defeatist about the endings i still do have some hope, it's just at critically low levels. The only thing keeping it at all is the fact that the endings are STILL just THAT disconnected from the rest of the game.

\\Long day at work makes me grumpy and I kind of took it out on this thread since it's the only real haven from everything else on these forums.

Apologies.

After reading the announcement I don't know how I feel about it. On the one hand I am glad they have managed to say something but on the other I'm pissed that they are not planning on altering the ending and that the content will be simply cutscenes.

I will simply have to wait until the summer to see on youtube what they release though I must admit a tiny slither of my mind still clings to the idea that BioWare couldn't have been this stupid and that we have all been indoctrinated, but 99% of me feels now that they just screwed up.

I dont see how.

You've been in this thread long enough to know IT isnt about getting new endings, its about explaining the ones we got. In other words, its about clarifying the endings, not getting completely new ones.

Nothing in Bioware's blog post invalidates IT, so I dont see why people are interpreting it as doing so.

I agree with you in a sense, but the tone in which everything is being presented at this point by Bioware, makes the IDT seem less and less likely. The fact that they aren't goign to address the endings. At All during pax is a big kick to the quad

Do i hope and plead that it's right and that this is sitll an elaborate ploay? Oh Hell yes. More than anything, but does it seem likely to me at this point? No, i can't say it does.

Up until today I was about 60/40 leaning to IDT explaining wtf happened.

After today's announcements and subsequent tweets, I'm at 99% Bioware went LOL LET'S MAKE EVERYTHING SPECULATATION and 1% hope.

Never before have I hoped to be wrong as much as I am now.

Well, I'd say: let's just wait with what they come up. Even though I am also rather frustratrated by the way Bioware/EA handle the ending debate, I still attribute a solid 50/50 chance that their "clarification content" actually relates to IT (instead of just adding more space magic).

Compared to all the ideas for interesting plot twists that we came up with in this thread, the DLC is probably still going to fall short of what it could have been. Let's just not abandon all hope before we really have definitive information.

Also, as a closing note (because I should go to bed now and will probably be offline for larger parts of the Easter holidays):
Even if Bioware/EA have indeed totally screwed up the mass effect ending, and even if we never get closure for our probably most beloved computer gaming trilogy, I have to say that I had a terribly good time with all you guys.
So thanks Golferguy, thanks byne, thanks EarthbornShep and Skillz, and all the others for making this thread the best f**king thread on the CitadelBSN.

The worst part about seeing Blasto is that it reminds me that Blasto had a happy ending that tied up all the loose ends and allowed him to end the vorcha threat and live happily with his polyp.

Blasto had a better ending than ME3.

I was just wondering, seeing as how I don't get out much ( this is the only thread I'm following) what is the general fan base response to the ending. Is it like 50% didn't like & 50% did. Or is more like 70/30, or 90/10? What sense of it do you all have?

I doubt they'll be able to avoid talking about the endings at PAX. You can say one thing on Twitter but when confronted by fans that demand answers, short of walking out mid discussion, whatcha gonna do?

Actually that picture with "Blasto. Even he had a better ending than ME3" would make quite a good post at that other thread.

I think Shepard will travel alone to a distant planet, with a turbulent, moody sky. As he walks over the rolling dunes at sunset, suddenly the ground trembles. Great cracks appear and the land boils. From the dust and shattered earth rises the massive hand of Casey Hudson with middle finger held proudly aloft.
'The End'.

That's hardly representative of the majority of the fanbase. Most who like the endings never bothered to come here simply because they didn't feel the need for clarification or to rant about it. They liked it, they moved on.

even if IT proves to be wrong, I still enjoyed this theory immensely.
It's been an honour contributing to this, and I also want to thank the smart minds who turned this theory in to the shimmering beam of hope that it has been for me and probably also a lot of other sad fans!

I will continue supporting this theory right up until Biowares saving grace, or until the bitter end.
