I was just wondering, seeing as how I don't get out much ( this is the only thread I'm following) what is the general fan base response to the ending. Is it like 50% didn't like & 50% did. Or is more like 70/30, or 90/10? What sense of it do you all have?

Well, with nearly 71,000 votes, 91% didnt like the endings

That's hardly representative of the majority of the fanbase. Most who like the endings never bothered to come here simply because they didn't feel the need for clarification or to rant about it. They liked it, they moved on.

You can't assume that. just like you can't assume they disliked it.
Unless they voice their opinino then they have no opinion.
Also other sites showing a similar position on endings etc etc

Lol, I've just made a short comic to sum up the ending to Mass Effect. Don't worry, it's ENTIRELY true to what we've been told and takes the ending at face value. It should provide sufficient closure.

(lol it's quite terrible realy, but it's something to do while I pass the time until the summer when the real DLC is released lol)

I love these comics! Make me giggle, and yes, i've adored exchanging theories, reading all your incredible insights. Even if IT turns out to be nothing but our far reaching imagination, i've enjoyed the hell out of it.

I would suggest securing rights to that story before you lose alot of money.

Even made comic sounds while reading it.
Nice comic.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a load of backpeddling on twitter and that?
They said (or at least strongly hinted) that there would be a statement at PAX. Now it's all like "Pax? Who said anything about Pax? We're not even going to talk about the game there, who said we were?"

Well, they never told us they would disclose new content specifically at PAX. Actually it was like: here more from us in April and a lot of "this is going to be big" statements and since there was this panel at PAX, everybody assumed they would use that opportunity (which they still might - but that chance is pretty low).

However, it will be interesting to see how they talk themselves out of the "keep your savegames", "if you only knew what we're up to" when they actually release only a couple of additional cutscenes.

Seriously, the whole thing just makes me want to punch Casey and friends like Shepard punches al-Jilani.

I'm now thinking the whole 'keep your savegames' thing was just so that:
1) we'd spend more money on DLC
2) not sell our games, meaning there are less cheap second hand copies for others to buy
3) keep us subdued until enough other people bought the game that bad feedback doesn't matter.
4) they could unleash multiplayer DLC

ME3 seems less about the story (to me) and more about the shooting stuff :
Half of the game is multiplayer and not storyline (I'm going by singleplayer=50% readiness, the other 50% is from multiplayer)

I don't mind the shooting, I wish there were more shooting and less "movie clips"

BUT, when they did make a game that is suppose to have a story, I want the story to have meaning.

LOVE IT!!

Well guys, we tried.  We really tried.  But apparently Bioware is now in the bussiness of selling steaming piles of feces.

I'm about 15 pages behind in this thread and things have probably moved on, but I just want to agree with this.  I don't need IT to be true - I just really, really want to have an ending that is at least somewhat coherent and emotionally satisfying.  IT seemed like the likeliest means of provding that (hell, maybe it still is), but it sounds like there is at least a good chance to get some of what I want.  Having the possibility of Shepard seeing her squadmates at the end sounds logistically difficult given the current endings, but it sure would make things less depressing.

One thought I have - what if one of the additional scenes occurs after Shepherd goes into the beam (if she ever really does), and it shows Normandy taking on Harbinger?  I so want to see Harbinger go down at the hands of Shepard's crew members!

I'm off for now everyone.
I hope we get some better news tomorrow (or today? Or whenever, I'm not sure of the time differences) after PAX. If not, then it's been fun anyway, exchanging ideas and that, it's just a pity bioware have went "You want the ending changed? LOL no way".

I was just looking at that.  I can't really start getting excited for it, but it is curious.  Probably Dragon Age since it's a BioWare announcement.

Now that I got my rage/depression reaction out of the way and can think clearly again I can comment.

It does seem to imply that there will be actual gameplay elements to this DLC. And while I was eating a brownie I was thinking of a way that they could keep the endings as they are, but also make room for an indoctrination element to pursue that.

Wonder if it'd possible to have branching paths based on the endings you chose.Meaning that say you took red. You are goign down the line of thought that it's indoctrination based. Depending on your EMS different things happen. could include gameplay elements after the breath scene.

if you chose Green, you do not accept indoctrination, instead you DO choose to synthesize all life. Cinematics to explain this. somehow gameplay elements perhaps of you controlling a squadmate at the end while you try to wait for help. This ending is sitll valid and would be a real ending as well.

If you went blue, you try to control the reapers. gameplay could be something like fighting harbinger to lead the reapers to do what you want. through gameplay and cinematics.

Just something off the top of my head. Any of your endings would be a real one. That way people can't say oh Red is the real one because it has gameplay. or blue is real because x reason.

...speculation!

Checking the schedule there are 3 announcements it looks like, 1 at 11:30 am each day. Unless its 1 announcement and all 3 days is just further explanation of what that announcement is.
