So interesting to see how many people said "The ending is Shep fighting against indoctrination!" and then BioWare said "We will clarify things but wont change what it is." They all go "Oh no it can't be indoctrination as it was never indoctrination." Seriously what kind of logic do you guys have?
If the ending as it is is indeed indoctrination - which I think it is - then not changing the ending would just be proving exactly that point: that it's indoctrination and the theory was correct.
BioWare is giving us exactly what we wanted: a free dlc that explains what was meant by the ending regardless if IT was supported or not.
There was at least some days ago only a tiny fraction that would not have been statisfied by explanation/exposition of how the current ending makes sense.
I'd like to point out that I believe the IT but I have not cried doom yet. Don't put us all in the same basket.
Except we don't know if they will prove anything or not. It could go either way. Uncertainty isn't something a lot of people are comfortable with, thus the constant freaking out.

Actually, I liked DNF a lot more than the current Mass Effect ending

I'm about 15 pages behind in this thread and things have probably moved on, but I just want to agree with this. I don't need IT to be true - I just really, really want to have an ending that is at least somewhat coherent and emotionally satisfying. IT seemed like the likeliest means of provding that (hell, maybe it still is), but it sounds like there is at least a good chance to get some of what I want. Having the possibility of Shepard seeing her squadmates at the end sounds logistically difficult given the current endings, but it sure would make things less depressing.
One thought I have - what if one of the additional scenes occurs after Shepherd goes into the beam (if she ever really does), and it shows Normandy taking on Harbinger? I so want to see Harbinger go down at the hands of Shepard's crew members!
She better not be janking our chain!

I will add to the pizza theme though.
Here is the song Pizza Day by Jonathan Coulton.
Here is former presidential candidate Herman Cain singing Imagine There's No Pizza

Okay, this sucks. But I think you guys are overreacting. This is a very bad sign, but it's not IT's tombstone. I want to focus on two points here.
1. PR speak isn't gamer speak. The people who write press releases and such aren't the same people who devoted half their lives to gaming. They think things like "cinematic sequences" are bullet points to sell a product. They likely don't understand that we're chomping at the bit for more gameplay and may think that's just implied.
2. The delay doesn't mean it wasn't planned. Games run on deadlines like anything else. ME3 was already delayed for quite a while before it hit the shelves. 6 months at least, I think? They may have prioritized. Release the game up until the indoctrination ending and then finish the post-indoctrination content afterwards. It makes sense in that it buys them some precious extra months to really finish the game. They just didn't expect the immense backlash. How could they? No one did. I've never heard of any game or even movie with an ending that so enraged its fanbase that major news networks covered it. That's unheardof.
I advise my faithful line-holding comrades in
I haven't done the "holding the line" catchphrase yet, but I think this time I'll use it for emphasis. Harbinger himself will have to burn my lifeless corpse off the line.
