I saw the discussions with Griffin about ten pages back. I hope that's not the kind of thing that you're calling #1 trollery, because he seemed to be fairly reasonable, and I'd like to think you guys are reasonable people.
Nah, Griffin is a special type of troll, and is generally likeable
This is actually one of the best compliments I've ever received, and I thank you for it

I like to think that I'm generally reasonable, but I do get caught up in emotion, and I think everyone does over an issue like this that matters very deeply to all of us. In general, though, I try to avoid loaded one-liners, insults, and namecalling because that is what I personally consider to be trolling. Even if my posts come across as trolling, my primary motivation is just to debate and discuss why the IT isn't the perfect solution people make it out to be.
Now, if I had to plot a rough outline of where I'm coming from with regard to the IT and "trolling" / arguing against it, my posting histroy could be summed up as: upset over the ending -> sad over the ending -> hopeful over the ending after IT was first being discussed -> questioning IT after Final Hours -> dismissing IT in light of the "rushed product / bad writing and design" theory -> trying to hold actual discussions over the ending only to be met with hostility -> venting frustration at the theory and those trying to promote it as the only viable and acceptable solution.
Admittingly, I can get carried away with that last bit. For those of you unfamiliar with my earlier posts, though, I have always held the belief, and stated in many threads, that if the IT keeps you "holding the line" and lets you enjoy the series, then believe in it all you want (I'd just urge you to exercise caution and brace yourself in case it isn't supported). Personally, the IT actually allowed me to pick up the game again for my NG+...even though Final Hours was released during the middle of that, it continued to give people hope, and I was fine with that..
My three primary issues with the pro-IT movement are this: dismissing other theories (namely, the game was rushed) because the IT is the ONLY solution, claiming that Destroy is the only ending that should result in additonal content, and then insulting people who disagree or argue against the theory (I've been called an idiot and an unbeliever, which...seems a little extreme to me).
Basically, I take the stance with IT that I do with religion: if it works for you, that's fine...just please don't get confrontational with me or other people about it. If anything, I'd say the vast majority of any of my "hostile" posting on my part could be described as reactive, not proactive.
So, again, to reiterate: if IT lets you enjoy the series, then believe in it with cautious optimism that they will support it. Picking fights over it and resorting to attacks such as name-calling, sarcasm, and, well, trolling tactics in general are just negative actions, and, again, I tend to react pretty strongly to those.
As to whether or not they actually do support the IT, I'd be fine with it on the condition that all 3 endings get approximately the same amount of content, not just two game over screens for two of them. I know that is probably not the general consensus for the execution, but people have argued with me that it's the proper way to implement the IT, giving the player a game over screen and forcing them to reload and pick Destroy if they pick the "wrong" choices. I will always pick Destroy in my playthroughs, but I've heard some pretty well-made arguments for picking the other two endings, and I feel that punishing those players with a game over-> reload scenario is just...wrong, imo.
