I wouldn't put MS in that category. They don't really buy companies as much as get exclusivity deals with developers to publish on their console. Epic (Gears of War) and Bungie (Halo) were good examples. They don't really seem to put unrealistic timeframes on studios either. Gears 3 was even delayed 6 months.
I put MS in there because of Halo 2. The initial script for the Halo 2 story had two additional chapters. Microsoft "forced" Bungie to release Halo 2 without those two chapters, and then expand those two chapters into Halo 3, so they could make a trilogy.
I'm not saying EA forced Bioware into anything with Mass Effect, just that it is not uncommon for that to happen, and that is why most people dislike big publishers. I was very worried that Bioware was being pushed into wasting time on multiplayer for ME3, but it actually turned out to be quite good.

So does anyone else thing they might be using the fan rage to get their production time back? And if so, since they're not changing starchild, doesn't it sound like they had stuff planned for after him all along?

I didn't get a reply for that either. I was just following up on a post here. Seeing if she was indeed speaking on the actual ending or her interpretation.

Basically, he is stating that EA/Bioware was forced to come out with a "Expansion DLC" for free otherwise the backlash would continue to ruin sales numbers. If an ending DLC was already planned and they originally set up the ending to allow for this later down the road is now irrelevant. It really doesn't matter now because they were forced into a corner and had to tell the world that they will be coming out with more "clarification" otherwise, the backlash would continue and this needs to be released sooner than later. IF Bioware really wanted 6 more months to complete the game but only got 3, this could explain how they were going to maybe continue the ending down the road. But now, since fans wanted clarification in the form of new content and they wanted it ASAP, Bioware might have had to scrap any plans they had to come out with what will currently make most people happy.
Thus, if IT was intended or something similar to it was going to be released, it more than likely no longer will be... But this is all based on a lot of speculation and opinion.

I'm not that worried about this. If anything, I think we'll get that originally planned three months worth of content back. And that would be best really, whatever it is....the real end of the story. Fingers crossed....

No, it's been planned for a long time, they just can't ever admit it for fear of being accused of selling an incomplete game. It would also take away from the wow factor of actually seeing it in game.

I disagree. This is just an excuse that's being used for theorists to still come out looking like they were right when they weren't. If IT were correct they would have just said so and told us to figure out what happens next. But they didn't.

The only reason they haven't flat out denied it is because non of the theorists would dnownload it. They know how large that base is. If they stop playing the game then potential DLC revenue is lost for fufure content.
Also, they want us talking about it, even after the dlc arrives. They want the attention and theorists are giving them just that. Why cut them off?
I just don't understand how people can put such obscure materials together into an elaborate theory like IT, but can't get the hint when Bioware themselves politely dismisses it.

heres my opinion, bioware had several ending planned out for mass effect 3 before launch, (maybe with IT bieng the most favored) and are now going to pick the proper ending based on user reaction. so IT was planned before hand but still haddent been put into play
