The concrete could have flown in by the battle going on near the beam. There are also cars on the Citadel.

I just watched the 'shepard waking from rubble' scene at the end of the credits again:

I'm afraid that I'll have to put an end to everyone's hope. The only reason you get that scene after choosing to destroy the reapers, is because that is the only choice where shepard's dead body can possibly remain:

If you choose to control the reapers, shepard turns into a husk.

If you choose the hybrid path, shepard turns into space dust.

If you choose to destroy reapers, shepard's dead body falls back to earth and is eventually discovered and tagged and perhaps people will build a shrine for him......

Nevertheless, no matter how bad the endings seems to be, and how many plotholes and nosencial it is, it is indeed, the ending, Shepard died :*(

Control does not turn you into a Husk. If you pay attention, Shepard dissolves just like in the Synthesis ending. Shepard's body would burn up in the atmosphere if it was true that he/she simply fell to Earth. If real, Shepard's body wouldn't exist period, there would be nothing to recover and would completely nullify the breathing scene at the end of the Destroy option.

look at shepards face and eyes(Even they turn blue characteristic of every husk or hybrid husk.. Saren, TIM) and tell me he isn't being huskified before disolving into reaper goo

(I'm not supporing his stance because I  think it was all indoctrination, but this right here proves its something more then what meets the eye

No it's not. Kai Leng summons hordes of Cerberus minions including multiple Phantoms mid fight to take you on.

The first fight he has a giant gunship backing him up.

Not 3v1.

shepard is in london when he survives

that alone is proof enough that the kid part was the indoctrination theory

To make things better: if they announce something, it will be after the game comes out in Japan, on March 15th, right?
Just realized that Japan is way ahead of the US on timezone, so for us here in the US, it will be technically March 14th ;)

I don't know, just wanted to make you guys less anxious.

KL cheats and brings in Phantoms, (and possibly troopers) though. (At least in my playthrough he did [hardcore[)

TL;DR version: Last minute script changes, production leadtimes and a tight deadline made the writing for the ending sloppy as they tried to tie up as many loose ends as possible.

Looking at another best-worst case scenario, imo:

Best case: We're truly on to something here...it might not be exact, but it's more hopeful than before. Personally, this thread renewed my hope, and even if they come in and wreck it, I'm fine headcanoning it because all of this works for me.

Worst case: We can actually document the inconsistencies and show them off as glaring flaws  / plotholes that just don't fit into the game. It'd essentially be "proof" or evidence of their sloppy creative talent and the bad writing people claim is nonexistant.

Agreed, its either godly (inception material) or utterly crap writing. All or nothing.

cerberus assault troopers = original trilogy storm troopers phantoms pose a problem but nothing dual overload followed by inferno rounds can't handle:happy:

That is pretty much it.  It's not so much 'sloppy creative talent' as per say, but just a really bad creative management at the end that ruined the experience of many players.  It can be on the part of the creative people, the producers or the EA executives.  But it's generally sloppy work that feels really out of place in one of the top AAA-rated titles.

Once again: Hallucination does not give an excuse for sloppy writing.

I'm playing my main save from before the Cerberus base through the end again since the last time I accidentally overwrote my original destroy autosave. I noticed another theme of all the dreams. The child is always running away from you. The child does not want you to get them.

Good catch! This could definitely prove the indoctrination of those two endings

My point was mostly that the fight with Kai Leng was not 3v1. If anything, it was pitched in his favor both times

That's what I'm thinking. The only thing that bugs be about it is that it seems too clean and undamaged.

I think that's Shepard's leg...

Before that, in the background (migh need to turn your contrast up) there's something that looks like the front end of a car. It has a metalic gloss to it.

Yeah, I saw that as well and found it odd. Regardless, there's no movement in the scene, so anything is conjecture at this point. The only thing we can go by is the fact that there's concrete rubble around you which most likely means London.

I agree with that last statement 100%. Even if this is hallucination, I feel they could have done a *much* better job of presenting it as such.

It's one of those ideas that works great in theory, but it seems to have really fallen apart somerwhere during the execution stage, if this is even the case. Hell, the Space Editions were a good idea that turned into an awful one. It wouldn't be the first mistake they've made with this game.

A dream/hallucination would make the ending's inconsistencies make sense. As it stands, there numerous plot holes and plot gaps... and would just be a poorly made ending (especially considering Bioware's former pedegree).

I am unsure how important it is, but I think there are some parallels between Mordin's ascension to cure the genophage and Shep's ascent to meet the boy. The how dodging explosions thing, then the slow walk toward a panel which will solve things. The "Has to be me. Someone else could make a mistake." If the bit we see of Mordin in the control room is what Shep imagines, I think it could easily be material for a hallucination. Or maybe I am over thinking things.

I swear to god I really hope it was a a hallucination. I forgot about some of the points made here, like the growl when indoctrination is broken. I really hope this is the real answer to the ending, and that they'll release some super DLC-epilogue which I will buy regardless what I think of EA or the fact that they would pull something like that a la Fallout 3. This post really made me feel better about the endings... for now at least.

We don't know if there's ANY concrete/rebar on the citadel. The glossy metal in the background is the only thing giving me pause, but it could just be some of the reaper structure near by at the conduit.

Well, I wouldn't look into Mordin's fate vs Shep's too much, really. If you watch the Renegade option where Shepard shoots Mordin (it is, without a doubt, probably the most horrific and evil thing I've witnessed in the ME universe), they both crawl for and grasp for the controls in much the same way.
