fleas?... never passed my mind. Firs tthing that comes to mind are cuttle fish. They dont "look" like them. They are basically a carbon copy of their figure.

I mean, they don't look exactly like a cuttle fish, but they look more like it than a flea. It was just the side legs that put me in mind of some kind of insect-creature.

And ooh, reaper cuttlefish lol.

1) On destroy: True, the fundamental process seems unlikely. I'll concede that. Still, not sure how else to explain the destruction of *all* synthetic life (again, this is taking the endings at near face value.) A super virus of some kind.

2)On synthesis: Exactly. The husk process is another good example of nanite induced synthesis. The difference here is that you're organic components wouldn't be replaced with machinery. Rather, you would achieve a true organic-synthetic hybrid and not a combiantion that doesn't destroy the identity of your species. It bolsters life and doesn't supplant it

Hmm. Well I still don't really think it could be called synthesis. It's just a more advanced version of putting a pacemaker in someone. Though I want to emphasize that's not a criticism on your theory. It's the only one besides IT, which completely disregards synthesis rather than trying to explain it, that hasn't made me bleed out of the ears. So kudos on being the only person I've seen attempt to justify synthesis and not wind up writing the literary and scientific equivalent of drinking a cup of gasoline. :)

I still like the idea of somehow going inside of Harbinger and fighting him there. Maybe detonating a giant bomb or something, all the while having to fight off indoctrination, as well as other Reaper defenses.

Possible. Reapers opened their doors for organic leaders to come and "negotiate peace." Turians and krogans did the greatest thing that has ever been done by anyone ever. They used the opportunity to stash nuclear weapons in those Reapers.

I read that codex like 2 weeks ago. I STILL start laughing uncontrollably when I think about that. You magnificent scaley bastards, I salute you.

I don't think that this picture is accurate.
In this picture, Harbinger looks too much like a regular capital ship.
If you look at the data pad image from ME2 you realise that his shape is a lot more different (especially considering the side view):
farm6.static.flickr.com/5267/5627450165_d3d220e3cb.jpg

Well that model of Harbinger in the picture I linked is literally labeled "Harbinger" in the data files so it's a safe bet. I think the data pad from ME2 was just showing him in a different position. Likely the position they're in when they're moving at FTL, whereas the position in that pic is how they look when standing on a planet.

Mass Effect 4: The Truth would be nice. We have yet to take back Earth, AS PROMISED. I feel ripped off.

Hell no! I want ME4, don't get me wrong, but I better not have to wait another 2 or 3 years to see the conclusion. Blood rage is nothing compare to nerd rage.

Sire Styx wrote...

I know people say they look like cuttlefish or giant squids.
But to me, they also have a flea-like look about them. As if they're giant parasites. Anyone else get that impression?

Not really, but then again I wouldn't have seen the destroy-leaf nymph insect thing if Bioware specifically said it. But I definitely see the cuddlefish comparison. 100%. It's like a cuddlefish had a threeway with Cthulhu and the terminator.

This picture is too big for me to link here, but I found it when I googled "Reaper cuddlefish". El. Oh. El.

It all makes sense now.

Harbinger is clearly a female reaper/cuttlefish. This explains why its obtrusive and annoying..... and can "assume direct control"

Reply to IIbountyhunter and others who mentioned the Sovreign backlash as possibility in Harbinger following IT.

The flaw that caused the backlash in Sovreign has been corrected according to a codex entry in ME3 (think it was sovreigns) so it probably will not happen to Harbinger if IT proves to be true. No I think we are going to have to take him on in some other way.

But its kinda different this time isn't it? Before you defeated sovereigns pawn, and this time its a direct mind to mind conflict.

Well Sovreign was controlling Saren directly when the backlash happened and it is that flaw that is mentioned as fixed.

And we actually don't know how direct it is. Harbinger might be controlling the Indoctrination, but without going all "assuming direct control" on Shepard. I at least highly doubt he is just gonna be sitting still next to the beam, not even attacking nearby forces.

But off course this is stil under the assumption that IT is true.

Even if its the same level of connection it might still work, before the connection was "cut so sovereign died, this time Shepard "overcomes" and dominates the connection... maybe.

Wow.  Yeah, I think there's the winner.

I like to think they originally viewed Cthulhu as the main inspiration (thematically speaking).

This is my first time posting on this thread, but I have been coming back everyday to check (what I believe to be true fans) opinions on the ending of the game and IT. I have got to say that in my honest opinion, I REALLY think IT is absolutely 100% true. There is so many clues and facts laying around all 3 games while you're play them. From Shepard's blue eyes in the 'control' and 'synthesis' endings, to nightmare's and godchild, and even to the point of indoctrination itself and what it means.

The codex in the game gives us detailed information on PURPOSE. Although many of us didn't see the IT clearly presenting itself in the gameplay, (like myself) when you go back and look at all of the 'bread crumbs' in the trail it all comes together and makes perfect sense. The writers all along wanted to make the player seem like they were being indoctrinated themselves. I saw a comment on one of the IT Youtube videos (and a lot of people gave it a thumbs up) and the guy said: "Either BioWare is really brilliant, or really asinine".

If the IT wasn't intended in the beginning then tell me this... How come all these 'bread crumbs' come together and make a 'loaf'?

First, Garrus is FAR more awesome than Batman. Batman's--and Gotham's really--problem is that he doesn't have the testicular fortitude to kill the Joker outright. Garrus wouldn't just shoot him, he'd take his goddamn head as a trophy.

That FemShep is pretty good. I wish the default one was that good.

I didn't think it was out on PC yet? I thought it was consoles first? In any case, I imagine it would arrive via Origin

In Origin, click on the "I" at the bottom of ME3's... button, I guess.  Then click the "shop for add-ons" button near the top of the new window.  It's free despite the "shopping" part but you have to select it there to download it.

Actually... Is there really much point to playing multiplayer when the endings are so similar at the moment regardless of your EMS rating? And Galaxy At War readiness falls back to 50% gradually if you don't play so it's not like you can prepare for the summer DLC.

Sure, it's more Mass Effect but it's not that good compared with other MP games.

Yes, I'm bitter. Very very bitter.

No there is no point. I do it cuz I like it. Besides every time I get to the ending. I switch my tv and do it by memory. I got a nice picture of garrus and shep toasting with beers to dead reapers in my mind.

I just hold stick up right, and press x over an over, I know it takes about 5 minutes for the god child stupid monologue. After that I run to the red, blow it up. change channels to avoid watching stupid normandy...Wait for the breathe scene... and say... yeah we did it. lets make a toast :P.

Just thought that I would add that I find it perplexing that none of the Bioware staff have yet to comment in this thread. If even only to come here and mock us or poke us with Sharp objects; they post in many other threads and this one has almost 1400 pages... Anyway, I am going back to reading mode...
