True, but UrgedDuke has a point. If the Extended Cut sticks to the current ending without confirming IT or coming up with a good new explanation either, it will be a far bigger disappointment than what we've already endured.
It'll also mark the last time many of us buy a BW product. I know ME3 will be my last if the ending was real. Sadly, I'm kind of worried they won't do IT because of the massive hate it gets (outside of this thread). I'm quite confident that they did plan to go that route, but the reaction to the ending thus far has been... well, you know.
I'd love to say I'll definitely not buy another BioWare game again, but I really can't. If there's another fantastic-looking game by BioWare coming out I know I'll struggle not to get it. The important thing for me, though, is the appalling way they've treated their most loyal customers. The double-speak, enigma and misdirection of the last month or two has been nothing short of shameful, given that the reason the fans are upset in the first place is because they don't understand what the hell's going on.
BioWare are in a position to neutralise all the anger that's bouncing around at the moment in one fell swoop, but they've repeatedly refused to do so. That's what I'll take out of this fiasco, more than anything. Even if IT is true and BioWare have pulled off one of the best and most daring moves in videogame (hell, all entertainment media) history, my opinion of them will still forever be soured by how they've strung us along.
My thoughts exactly, I can deal with dissapointing games or endings from companies, it happens to the best of them (Dragon Age 2 and ME3's ending, ofcourse) but it's the way BioWare has dealt with the situation that's just annoying. I feel that whatever you ask/say they'll give some generic response and they've never given us some real useful information.. Never did anyone there write a blog or something saying: ''Alright guys, I know you don't like the ending, this is what we're going to do about it.'' Now we apparently have an Extended Cut coming where Jessica Merizan is giving us all kinds of info that doesn't seem logical, it's like she has no idea what she's taking about, everything they (BW) say can be taken the wrong way and their ''wink-wink'' tweets are getting old. I honestly feel like they're treating us like a bunch of kids, and that's the worst way they could've handled this situation. I can't tell you how many times I tweeted towards BioWare, and the few times they did tweet back they said things like ''Thanks for the suggestion!''... That's just a polite way of saying ''Shut up''.
So basically your saying you support ****ty endings, false advertising and lying companies.
I honestly can't believe the hate people are giving Bioware. Even if the ending is literal, so the hell what? The Mass Effect franchise has given me nearly 90 hours of excellent gaming and perhaps 15 minutes of bad gaming.
People are punishing a game company because they were so GOOD, not because they were bad. They were so good and they screwed up once, so people are crucifying them for it. It's childish and entitled. The ME's were my first Bioware game and from now on I can tell you I'm buying every damn game they produce.
By the way, "false advertising". Get outta here with that bull****. Try suing a movie for "false advertising", or a book.
Geeze. People happily buy the next mediocre shooter but get furious when ME's last 15 minutes aren't very good. It's not right.
EDIT : said last 15 minutes are good, instead of "aren't". Freudian slip I guess
