I really shouldn't imagine people on the internet according to their avatar's gender.

I should just assume that everything, EVERYTHING is a guy.

Welcome to the internet, where the men are men, the women are men, and the children are FBI agents.

And thanks to Bioware not confirming or denying it, to me, it's the best theory yet. A theory so good, it's as good as proven :P.

Your word in god's ear. Ah wait, you're a physics student. xD
No prejudices here, but I'm German too and I was just reminded of my old grumpy physics teacher who always somehow points out that religion is stupid and pointless ... lol

As nobody might do it in physics, BioWare has the power to prove this theory. So guys, DO IT!

I also live in Germany where the game was released two days later. But before that I have been reading the @masseffect and saw people asking for a change of the ending. "Huh?" I thought to myself, wondering what could be so bad that people actually ask for something like that. Since then something like that is even possible? Ah well, can't be THAT bad, probably just a bit confusing.

The rest of the story is the same as with all of you, who enjoy this fine thread.

I was all different kinds of confused, but when I found IT it struck me like a lightning. I 'knew' this was it. But how? This is 'only' a theory, an unconfirmed interpretation by the audience.

See, I'm a physics student who in particular enjoys the fine theory of Einstein's general relativity. To me, this is one of the most impressive achievents of mankind. Before some folks decided to try to explain gravitation in a different way there have been a few curiousities about the universe that just could not be explained conventionally (Newton's mechanics/gravitation). For example: Mercuries orbit is very elliptical and this ellipse is spinning - this is called precession of the perihelion. Now, Mercury doing this is not the problem, the problem is the speed of the precession. And nothing (not other planets, sun's radiation, people even suggested a yet undiscovered extra planet) could fully make up for the frequency the orbit is spinning.
Then general relativity came along and made up for it, astonishingly precise. More precise than anything before it. And it revealed us things like gravitational waves, wormholes, black holes and led to GPS.
A century later, this theory now is one of the experimentally best confirmed theories, i.e. confirmed by observational facts. But even so, it will remain impossible to prove the theory, because in nature you cannot prove a theory, you can only disprove it, by some observation that eventually contradicts results the theory predicts.

Why this wall of text? Indoc Theory struck me nearly as much as general relativity did as a theory when presented. It just matches the in-game observations so impressively well. So I kinda fell in love with it in a similar way.

And thanks to Bioware not confirming or denying it, to me, it's the best theory yet. A theory so good, it's as good as proven :P.

That's the problem with this thread, we can never have "testible evidence" in the normal sense :P

Muahaha, I can "disprove" this "theory" - I met my girlfriend on the Internet. She is female, apparently. And it wasn't even any kind of dating website.

Well, since so many people here are German, I feel like I should ask something I've always wondered.

When I was a kid I lived in Germany for three years because my dad was stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base.

Does it make you guys mad that we have military bases in your country?

I know if Germany randomly decided to set up a military base in like, South Carolina or something, we wouldnt be ok with it. I always wondered if people in other countries felt the same about it.

It was very early in the official twitter.

Ca't provide a link sorry, but I am sure someone here could hook you up.

They were clearly planning the EC almost either the moment that people started complaining, or perhaps even before, though that would fail to explain why they thought people wouldn't want it. Perhaps the idea was a scrapped one they picked back up again?

a) For some weird reason physicists who specialized in general relativity have the largest number of believers.
B) I don't care whether people believe in a deities in something or not, and neither should other physicists, I think. That's not our job to argues , that's a job for evolutionaray biologists who have to defend evolution on a daily basis.

As Richard Feynman said, we as scientists are like someone who watches an ongoing chess game without knowing the rules.
So Bioware is playing the game and we are watching it.

Good question. I pretty much doubt that everyone here is "okay" with it. The more important point is, that most people would not dare to protest against ist.
This is simply because Germany still has to fight the prejudice of us all still being ****s, you know? Maybe it doesn't seem like that to others, we have to very careful what we do and show in any way possible that we are different now.
This is also the reason why Germany has to play far more nice, social, helpful and supportive in EU politics than any other country. At least that are my impressions.
