After getting this Friday and playing 40hrs and finishing Sunday evening, I was completely bemused by the ending I got. I couldn't understand it.
At first it somewhat ruined my favourite game franchise and I really didn't know what to make of the ending... after such an AMAZING game, how could they screw up the ending so bad?
When I came here and saw some theory about Shep being indoctrinated I have to admit, I thought you were all just clutching straws, but after reading a lot of it, it really does make sense, and its not like you have to force it in there to work either.
I was happy with the ending until the kid turned up, then it was just all over the place and I started to question things. Then I noticed Andersons choice was red and TIM's was blue, which seemed intentional at the time.
Confused, I still chose to destroy them, even though it made me think for a good 2-3 mins. I destroyed them because I remembered thats what this whole series and hundreds of hours of gameplay was about.
Anyway, then I went through the whole wtf sequence watching the ending like everyone else and came here.
If the indoctrination theory is true, and it seems it to me, then I've gone from being totally disappointed to loving the ending.
I just have one question; If its a not real from the point Shepard gets hit by Harbinger and he stays laying until the rubble until he wakes up (In my ending), then who activated the arms on the Citedel?
Anyways, I understand why some people think its too far fetched to believe this theory, but without it the endings aren't just bad, they make no sense at all. Plus there's too many Bioware tweets indicating they're holding something back at the moment.
As is stands, I'm happy to accept the indoctrination theory, and with that I'm happy to accept my cannon ending. So thanks to those of you that (In my opinion) figured this out!
TL;DR
This makes sense! Thanks! But who opened the Citedel arms if Shep was still on the ground in London? I'm sure its in these pages somewhere, but I only read the first 2 for the evidence
