If you want actual irrefutable proof that the Reapers are lying about harvesting only the advanced species, you just have to look at the actual enemies called Harvesters.

They dont have spaceships, they dont even have any form of technology, they're just mindless animals, but the Reapers harvested them anyways.

There is a difference between being harvested, aka melted down and then infused in a new Reaper, and just being repurposed to fit their needs to harvest other species.

"We harvest advanced civilizations, leaving the younger ones alone." - Godchild

He straight up lies to your face.

Wait a sec. I may be wrong but Hackett did mention that the Reapers on their way to Sur'Kesh (or Thessia) didn't harvest the Yahg which are a "primitive race"...

It never said it wouldn't take some of the younger ones and repurpose them. It just says they don't harvest or annihilate them to extinction.

I always hated Jacob aka "Mr. Glib" since ME2... He has as a much charisma as a seashell... I expected he could die in the "Cerberus Scientists Mission". The whole Galaxy is at war and he only wants children... But no, he survives against all odds...

If you want to hate Jacob, and by God you should, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that he's the only LI who cheats on Shepard.

BRB, replaying ME2.

I think the ending was fascinating - it draws on several myths and theories about the cosmos. The indoctination just feels like a cop out, ignoring the the thought behind the story.

Oh and one more thing, just because someone disagrees with you does not make them a 'troll.' That is what forums like these are for, I'm sure you'd be pretty bored if it was 1600+ pages of people saying "yay you're right!"

So, like, did you play a different game than me? Because my endings were just multicolored explosions. Nothing about myths or theories about the cosmos.

And I personally didnt call you a troll, did I? I dont think I did, but if I did, I apologize.

No you didnt, but someone else did. Thought you might be thinking it! :?

And its true, the main problem with the ending was that it was VERY poorly explained, and maybe that had to do with rushing the game out or just poor wrighting. With many of the plot holes however, I just feel like its ambiguous deliberatly, authors use it all the time in novels, some particularly skilled authors can make it so the ending of a story is different for different readers because readers project their own imaginations onto the characters/evenets. Perhaps this is what Bioware are doing.

Take Tali's face for example. I was much happier not knowing what her face looks like, I had my own image of it, not some stock face that Bioware added lamely.

I imagine you're seen this before, but this chap has a cracking attempt and explaining the ending as it

http://galacticpillo...ffect-3-ending/

It's LONG but it achieved the remarkable feat of making me more interested in the ending, as i was, like many others, seething after my first playthrough. I wouldnt go as far to say he definatly right on it all but it's certainly a thumping good read!

"Leaving the younger ones alone."

Leaving them alone in the sense of harvesting, not in the sense of taking a few. Taking a few is irrelevant for their continuing existence hence it's equal to leaving them alone.

Yeah, I agree the ending was very poorly explained. I believe this adequately sums up my reaction immediately after beating the game.

Take Tali's face for example. I was much happier not knowing what her face looks like, I had my own image of it, not some stock face that Bioware added lamely.

Yeah, when playing my main character, who is femshep and didnt romance Tali, when she took off her mask on Rannoch, the entire time I was thinking 'Please dont make the mistake of actually showing her face Bioware. Theres no way you'll be able to please everyone'

And when they didnt show her face, I was actually relieved because I thought Bioware made the right choice.

Then I did my Talimance playthrough and she gave me the picture. I was pretty disappointed in Bioware.

Also, since it has always bugged me, when did Tali take that picture? Did she randomly sneak off behind a rock while Shepard was talking to the Reaper and take off like half of her suit to snap a photo? Who took the picture? Raan? Legion?

OH GAWD!

No. Applying The ending to the Kardashev scale doesn't make it any better at face value.

But this part of the article is hilarious -

"Shepard isn’t going to suffocate in the Catalyst area; there’s no reason at all not to suppose that the room has windows."

I don't think this author has any idea what's going on.

Been thinking about something lately.. what if the ending doesn't take place in Shepard's mind, but there's still an indoctrination plot going on? We, as the player, are deciding how the story ends. Destroy = Shepard wasn't indoctrinated - control/synth = Shepard was indoctrinated.
The renegade/paragon swap and the starchilds attempts to discourage destroy is the game testing the player, and depending on your choice, the game concludes differently.
I hope you guys get what I'm saying. What I like about this train of thought, is that it is a lot less risky way to end the game, making it a little more plausible in my mind, as opposed to releasing some kind of The Truth DLC.

Hmmm.. yeah.. at least that could be done without changing the ending. There would still be a sh*tload of plot holes and general strange stuff. But it least having ANY kind of IT in there makes it better.

Plotholes can be explained in retrospect. In contrary to all the b*tching about plotholes I think this kind of stuff can be explained very well by, say the EC. No problem, it just has to be withing the lore.

@Gambit
Well Bioware would have to somehow multiplex the different decisions, and it would be very interesting to see how.

Btw, with regards to who leaves the Normandy at the end:
So it's NOT neccessarily your last sqadmates. It's your LI and the character you interacted with the most?

If so, this fits even better to the claim that the crash was in Shep's head and these two persons are his best friends.
(I know, 1600+ pages are about that, but there are still folks nagging about this supposed lazyness of the devs)

Also, after 5 weeks I finally realized that the 'Destroy' tube looks like a husk-ify tube we see on Sanctuary and Shep destroying it so enthusiastically means that this tube represents (sort of) Shep's defeat against the Reaper ('s methods). Smart me...:pinched:

Speaking of physics, that drill sergeant in ME2 told us that we're ruining someone's day somewhere everytime we fire the cannon of a starship.

Dont we kinda screw Earth over more than even the Reapers did when like half our shots in the opening salvo just completely miss the Reapers?

I don't think I did call anyone a troll. I quipped, light-heartedly, that someone had created a quick and easy precedent form that trolls could use... remind me not to quip again, however light my heart may be. Clearly that's also on the prohibited list, as well as supporting a theory without coming up with it myself (still can't quite get my head around the absurd lack of sense in this idea).

Plus, Newtonian Theory is just that. A theory. It can never be proven, only disproven, which thankfully it hasn't yet. I'm equally sure that Indoctrination Theory has not been disproven to date.
