If Bioware had planned all this from the beginning:
-the subtle hints throughout the game
-the seemingly terrible, plothole riddled ending
-the hordes of anger fans decending into rage filled fits of anger and feelings of betrayal to hype it up
-the 'playing innocent/stupid'
- and finally releasing the DLC explaining how Shepard was indoctrinated and the ending was really a battle of wits

Than I think we can all agree, if they had planned this all out ( IF IF IF ) than I believe that would constitute the great PR campaign / promotion ever!

Yep, if I.T. is true then Bioware has the biggest balls of all the game companies, and they win the internet.

If they are wrong however, it's the biggest blunder in gaming history and they effectivley destroyed most of their fanbase.

100% agree, just like the game three "paths" to follow:
A - Indoc. Theory is true, Awesome epic twist ending we all win!
B - THey dropped the ball, Mass Effect is essentially dead we all lose!
C - They give us a middle of the road "explaination" that does nothing to satisfy the fans and Mass Effect becomes just "another game"

I agree. I love the IT because my inital impression of the ending for several days was that it was a dream sequence, then a work buddy pointed me towards the IT threads and it makes sense. In my opinion.

My biggest problem with IT is that EA/BioWare sold us an incomplete game, which doesn't sit well with me. I had plans to finish up DLC stuff from DA:O but have put all of that on hold because I don't want to give BioWare any more money until I see the extended cut this summer.

It's ballsy for certain, but if the DLC is free it isn't really incomplete- it would be completely neccesary in order for the whole thing to work.  It's definitely down the road of being uncomfortable, and wierd, but if it does happen to be true isn't it the greatest stunt in video game history?

As for not purchasing other DLC?  If you enjoy DA:O and respect what the team did there, why withold money to the parent corporation because of a decision by a different team with a completely different writing staff?  I really wish someone could explain the boycott to me, I really can't wrap my brain around it.

Whether intentional or not, if your comments convey disdain for indoctrination theory, with no constructive arguements being made, you will be called a troll. If you have made mocking or inflammatory statements in the past, with no attempts at reconciliation, and continue to make remarks with contemptuous undertones, real or imagined, do not be surprised if you are not afforded the benefit of the doubt.
Open discussion in the search for better understanding is wholly expected and encouraged.

I'm not buying the everyone has a right to be here line either. How about showing restraint and decency. I don't go into someones church and start trying to convert people. Just because the doors aren't locked doesn't justify the disruption. People deserve a place where they can congregate in peace without people who disagree interrupting with insults. This is the INDOCTRINATION THEORY THREAD !!!! For speculating on IDT. If you're only here to point out how stupid you think we are, then you are flaming.

Yeah I heard you the first time. So we should just listen to them go on and on? The ones that stick around and keep at it? They don't seem to leave of their own accord.
So they get the smack down. And they bring their own ammo btw.

Sorry. To clarify, I know that the extended cut is free. My suspicion is that the extended cut will show us that IT was indeed correct, and that they intended to sell us the ending as playable DLC later on down the road but I think they did not expect the backlash over the ending to reach such heights.

As far as boycotting, for me it is the only way I feel like I can express my opinion to these mega-companies like EA. I feel like video games is one of the shady areas where we as consumers don't have much of a way to show our dislike of a companies decision, other than refusing to purchase a product.

They do, the middle road would be haeving JUST the starkid scene be a hallucination, but that would create the inconsistency on Shepard "waking up" on the Citadel, which would just be silly.

Also, they could do the "waking dream" thing: you are still moving throught the real world but you're not "perceiving" the real world. What you would be seeing isn't reality but you are still moving and interacting with reality. The EC would just show what "really" happened.

Neither would be as good as full on I.T.

Why not?, what exactly are written words doing to you?
If they get out of hand then PM a moderator, all you are succeeding in doing is antagonizing them, which is exactly their intent.

Skip:[blah blah, IT people are stoopid]

Great points.  IDT is all speculations.

That's what frustrates me that some people come in here to do nothing but bash the theory and flame.

Yes, IDT is a theory.  Evidence has been collected that we believe supports the theory.  But until the Summer DLC it is still up in the air.  Bioware has not and likely will not confirm or deny any theories until the DLC is released.

As I said in my opinion right now those are the most likely scenarios right now. ( I could be wrong ) They will either win, lose or give us some middle of the road nonsense.

I believe in IDT, or some awesome varation of that, but my experience in life tells me not to get my hopes to high on this one.

Patience is the key, I know it gets hard defending against people who have no idea what they are talking about, and the periodic troll barrage, but we need to kill these kids with kindness. Sometimes we even get allies and healthy rivals by doing this (GBGriffin and Epyon come to mind)

I totally agree.  I don't know how many of you were into the TV show LOST, but there were threads for years that were exactly like this one.  In the end, a not a single one of the excellent, well-thought-out-theories turned out to be true, because the writers' ending was WAY simpler than we'd hoped for.
