while were on the subject of arrival, do we know what happened to Shepard while he was out?
also.... why didn't the sedatives work?
I always assumed that all of the 'upgrades' provided by Cerberus made it more difficult to knock him/her out. /shrug
Shepard was unconsious for nearly two days, plenty of time for further indoctrination, cerburus initially kept Grayson sedated, but TIM wanted to see the effects on an aware subject, Grayson initially fought the indoctrination and TIM was getting impatient, that's when Kai Leng suggested red sand.
Ah, I was talking about Shepard resisting sedation. I thought IIbountyhunter was talking about Shepard, not Grayson. Oops.
No, your right I was talking about Shepard. But the grayson comment was showing similarities, right?
I haven't read Ascension, so I don't know very much about him. I'm reading up on it on the Wiki right now.

Yes, in the initial stages the Reapers don't have direct control, instead they use suggestion by taking information from the victims mind and twisting it to suit their needs, Grayson knew he was a danger to Kahlee Sanders so attempted to head in the opposite direction as far as possible away from her, but while sleeping on the shuttle(induced by the reapers) they took his thoughts and gained knowledge about Kahlee, she was a scientist, they used this to then manipulate Graysons thoughts, I don't remember the exact wording of graysons thoughts at the moment, but to paraphrasellbountyhunter wrote...
Grayson conversed with the reapers, and activity fought them gaining control of his body again. Also it was mentioned that as long as they had similar goals the reapers didn't assume direct control over them.
Grayson thoughts: Kahlee is understanding, she is a scientist, she will want to see this.
All the while not realizing that it's the Reapers who made those suggestions, the suggestions are so interwoven with his own thoughts he can no longer tell the difference.

A question to IT theorists who think that Arrival was a significant part of indoctrination, or even the start of it proper. If BW's artistic vision was to take Shepard throughout the trilogy on a process of indoctrination, why wasn't Arrival put in the actual game given its alleged massive importance, to the great disadvantage of those who haven't got internet/can't afford it/won't pay etc? Instead, Arrival was DLC, which as we all know usually supplements the main plot, not necessarily to continue to it.
Considering that the whole opening sequence of ME3 was based on the crimes Shepard committed during "Arrival", I would say that it was a little more important than "supplemental".
I always thought that his detainment was due to his involvement with Cerberus, who are considered as a terrorist group by the Citadel Council and the Alliance. To save face, the Alliance brought in Shepard , the "rogue" operative. Also the Alliance by this time realises that the Reaper threat is real and need Shepard's expertise
Also, 2 days cuddled with Object Rho is just one incident in many.
- Sovereign on Eden Prime
- Possibly that geth shrine on Feros
- Something was indoctrinating the folks on Virmire
- Sovereign was dry humping the Citadel right outside the Council Chamber room, which Shepard was in.
- The Collector Ship
- The Collector Base
- The derelict reaper and it's IFF
- That thing in that one mission that spawned endless husks.
- Dozens of reapers on Earth
- Dozens of reapers on Menea
- Reaper on Tuchanka
- Reaper on Rannoch
- Dozens of reapers on Thessia
-edit- Christ this thread moved fast.

That got me thinking and I loaded an old save file. While explaining your 'vision' to Anderson on the Normandy immediately following Eden Prime, there are strange voices that start playing in the background.

While we're at it (referencing me 2)
A couple of statements made by the cerberus science team working on the derelict reaper, are quite interestimg. especially the one that can be found i the area with the dragon's teeth. The scientist is talking about what he's been experiencing while being on board " It's a force. IT WARPS REALITY just by being there."
it gets better, if you compare the following to shepard's dreams
" The god's mind is gone but it still dreams. He knows now. He's tuned in on our dreams. If I close my eyes I can feel him. I can feel every one of us.”
he's tuned in on our dreams...and i can fee everyone of us..shepard "feels" everyone he's lost, in his dreams. the reaper is tuned in on his dreams (possible meaning: he's creating
There is no evidence to suggest that indoctrination is an active process. Everything we know implies the victim being under complete control. Nobody has ever described the process as involving two-way conversations with a light baby or other being. There is no evidence that indoctrination involves some sort of trickery. It does what it does.
Grayson conversed with the reapers, and activity fought them gaining control of his body again. Also it was mentioned that as long as the had similar goals the reapers didn't assume direct control over them. The reapers could also mess with graysons mind to make him think he was in control and actually defying them when he was in fact helping them.
What was the nature of Grayson's conversations with the Reapers? Did they appear in physical form and speak with him? Was there any time where they appeared and conversed with him in some other form (like light boy)?
