I dont understand how anyone can look at forcibly altering everyone in the entire galaxy right down to the very structure of their DNA, and see that as the happy ending.

I think this whole issue stems from people not accepting the starchilds assertion that synthetic and organic will always make war. Now, ASSUMING the literal ending, then basically this is the truth as the writers saw/created it. Hence, synthesis allows for two peoples to coexist peacefully.

Except the writers straight up showed that coexisting peacefully was possible by allowing you to resolve the Geth/Quarian situation peacefully.

If they really wanted to drive the point that coexisting isnt possible, they wouldnt have included that option.

Wald, you've had your moments.  I don't think you're really a troll.  I think you've mad the mistake of not bringing up relevant points in the past and just said that you don't agree with IDT.

Yeah this is why I think Synthesis is a blend of Renegade and Paragon.

In the face-value ending the green option (synthesis) is the neutral option. But even then, the red one is, IMO, the best one, cause Shep decide, stays (and eventually dies) as a human. In the blue one he becomes a Reaper (maybe thought as necessary evil), in the green one a Husk at best or green atoms.
Necessary evolution ? Maybe, but I doubt it... Every specie has its own way to evolve, there is absolutely no need to merge it with another one. I might be wrong, but I can't recall any example of it in the whole pre- and  natural history. If anyone has a counterargument, please...

There are plenty stories where the ending puts your beliefs in question : all for what you were fighting, suffering for, is maybe not right... Perhaps you were wrong from the very start... For example: peace between Quarian and Geth won't last or it's only the exception that proves the rule.
But here it's not the case, the Godchild logic is twisted and self-based. He finds every one guilty before the crime even happens (Minority Report might be here a good analogy). Thus all the proposed choices are lies, since the starting-point of his reasoning is wrong. I was never found of pre-emptive wars and will never be.

So even it the face-value ending is the real deal, I'll continue to choose destroy and say the godchild "f*** you"...

That's all I wanted to say. Sorry if I did somewhat disturb the current discussion,,,

Great points here.  It would create - in my opinion - a very distopian future.  There has been a lot of literature on the subject of "sameness" and forcing change upon a large population in order to control said population. 

People will rebel.  No matter how "perfect" a system there is in place, there will always be those that rebel against that system.

Yeah but that's a very short-sighted view of things. I mean, it took SHEPARD to do it, and the circumstances were actually helpful. Since it seems likely from everything we've heard about this that the usual course of events is war, the next cycle will just repeat the mistakes (whether or not this is a Reaper cycle or simply enough time passing is irrelevant), since they probably won't have a Shepard. (ha, used it like Buzz ).  So essentially NOT choosing synthesis is rolling the dice about billions of lives for no good reason.

'Course, even in the literal view I think it's just a nice space magicky metaphor for "Hey, we're not so different, we can all get along".

Even as the Catalyst was describing it the first time I knew, I hated it, but I didn't make the connection to why I hated it so much until his tweets.

Not that simple. It's the ones who come in and say "IDT is wrong because X, bet you never thought of that!" When X has actually been discussed repeatedly and can often be answered by the threads first page synopsis, clearly showing the poster has spent little to no time really trying to understand IDT. This thread tries to stay focused on IDT, but it's a daily barrage of trolls and noobs who clearly dislike IDT.

Don't like it? Fine! Give concrete reasons why or leave us alone.

oh, and another thing i posted 3 weeks back: i didnt know about the trolls, but now that i do, i really like them. they seem to have a lot of fun. i like having fun. so im gonna start my troll carreer by trolling you once the idt is disproven for real.

Besides which there are plenty of people reading this thread who are going to be disappointed enough if the issues with the ending aren't resolved - I fail to see how your delight in that scenario will do anything but make it worse, and there's a variety of names used to describe people who do that.

Not that you're one at the moment (judgement pending) but my personal favourite has four letters and begins with c. Just saying.
