Very fair point, as the reapers view us as children, but it's not the reapers making the choice, it's a human, what gives Shepard who has been killing things left, right and center with a myriad of weapons through 3 games the right to say who carries weapons?SS2Dante wrote...
Unfair metaphor. More exact one:
How many people would "forcibly remove" the guns from the children arguing in the rear of the car?

'Course, even in the literal view I think it's just a nice space magicky metaphor for "Hey, we're not so different, we can all get along".
I think you miss the point. It's not "hey, we're not so different, we can all get along". That was what Rannoch was about.
For the synthesis ending (really the entire scene with the starchild) It's "hey, we're all so different we can't possibly get along. ONLY by unilaterally exterminating one side or making everyone the same can we finally have peace"
By replacing Organic and Synthetic with White and Black (or aryan and jewish) it becomes racist, vile... I don't know. I can't even think of the right words. It's so revolting.

I forgot how badass Sovereign was.
Also how he totally doesnt seem to agree with Godchild's claims of protecting organic life. He sees it as basically as an infection that must be purged.
That would be the one

Gah! Anyway, he laughs at me but he also remembers how I was when I finished the 'Fool' series by Robin Hobb and it didn't end the way I hoped. It's better this way!
Well there is often a difference between the way you hope something ends, the way you think it will end and how it actually ends.
Yes there can be a difference between hope and think, at least in my world. I have book series I am working my way through and I think I know at least part of how it will end, but god I hope it is not true
There absolutely is, and most of the time it's part of the pleasure of reading. When I was reading the Malazan Books of the Fallen I very frequently had my jaw dropped by something I hadn't expected, and I adore that series. My point really was that a massively disappointed Alice is not a pleasant person to be around until I'm over it
Always love looking for connections in litterature and games, trying to pierce together the plot twists ahead of time. Quite good at it too if I may say so myself, which only makes my fears regading the ending of the series I am waiting to be finished worse.
But I can certainly say i did not see Mass Effect 3 ending coming, not even in my worst nightmares...
Off topic: Anything you can recomend? Currently looking for a new series to start on since I finished the latest book in the series I mentioned. Prefer Fantasy.
Oh and the series I am reading is Naomi Norvicks Temeaire, fun stuff basicly going "what if?" by intoducing Dragons to the Napoleon wars.

So yeah, that's what to be expected here, no real conversation/debate anymore when something isn't in line.
Wait wait wait, are you saying that I did that?
Because if I did I was apparently being a huge dick that day, and I apologize.
I dont remember doing that, but I forget lots of stuff.
If I did do that, I probably just assumed you were a pro-ending troll, because thats generally where I see the "Shep deserves better fans" sig, but thats really no excuse for me to just write you off.
If you arent talking about me, and I'm apologizing for nothing, I'm still sorry, since I've probly done something similar to someone else at some point.

So.. has anyone here played Deus Ex and was infuriated how the three endings were completely ripped of from that? Like, really?
Nah i wouldnt say the endings was ripped of from it. While the themes are certainly similar the exact details remain different enough that i dont really compare them...except maybe if you want to hold up examples of let down endings...not that the ending was ever as bad as ME3.

You read any of Michael Moorcocks Eternal Champion books? Best fantasy there is in my opinion. Also The Witcher books are really good.

Actually GBGriffin has the title of troll king, you're not even a very good troll.
thats because im not trying to be. im still waiting for bioware to tell us whats the truth. then im gonna troll you.
Whats up with you people?
I dont hang out in anti-IT threads and inform them over and over again how I'm gonna totally troll them and rub it in if IT happens to be true, yet we have seen tons of anti-IT people come in here claiming they're totally gonna troll us and rub it in if it happens to be false.
The anti-ITers seem to take all of this way too personally.
I'm sure that there are some skeptics that don't fit into this category right?

Nope, I mean the original first Deus Ex. Because that had 3 endings:
1. Merge with an AI - > Synthesis
2. Destroy technics -> yeah well, Destroy
3. Rule the world with a secret organisation --> Control, kind of

Even if Synthesis was the best option, calling it the "Final evolution of life" is far too suspect to me.
Yeah, I dont like how it implies that there is some final evolution that is clearly the best.
This isnt pokemon, evolution doesnt work that way.
Sovereign also called the Reapers the pinnacle of evolution. If the catalyst (who made them) says that Synthesis is the final evolution of life (biologically illogical, but nevermind) doesn't that just mean we're turning everyone into Reapers (or at least Reaper ground forces)?
As much as Synthesis makes me nauseous, I think it fits really well with IT. When you take the time to make even the most superficial analysis of it, who besides the Reapers could think it even remotely acceptable? We are making everyone reapers in the name of peace. How is that not adopting the Reaper worldview (being indoctrinated?).
PS: It's been a miracle I haven't violated Godwin's law already but The Catalyst really is Space Hitler.

good thinking. but no. my field of study seems to be the most difficult one, at least thats what everyone says. we started out with 20 people, now we are 6 or 7. not sure.
also they wish there were more of us, since we have to share lectures with other computer science based groups like the economics and the media guys. and they are horribly slow compared to us. thats also why i stopped going to lectures. they take an eternity to explain something, cause they have to explain it 3 times and then the stupid questions start coming.
yet, i have to admit, math and physics i was the one with the stupid questions, since we had to have our own lecture cause our stuff was more difficult. yet i skipped 4 classes of math and physics (dont ask, space magic), so i have actually no idea whats going on there. math 1 i passed at first try, cause it was all new stuff, but math 2 ... all vectors and x^3/2 / X^4 * ... which everyone else seemed to have had in school, except me. and im way too lazy to practice that stuff. never had to study or practice before, why should i start now?
