Consider this, however: in ME2 it is revealed that even a "dead" Reaper can influence the living. Even if the Reapers were removed as an active threat, their remains would litter land and space. Close contact would affect the living and all it would take is one more Illusive Man, now with a fuller understanding of their tech, to begin a galactic war and establish a return to the Reapers.

This time, instead of simply reverse engineering faster-than-light tech, we'd see biological processing.

Or there could be a simple technological progression.

Crap. *Chomps cigar.*

EDIT: seriously, someone tell me why my images are always broken when I try to link them.

Also, the Catalyst said that Shepard was "the first organic ever" to set foot on that part of the station. Makes one wonder about dudes/squids/sentient slinkies in spacesuits but that's what Starbrat said.

Dont get me started... If he's the first organic ever, why is there organic tech and writing there? Control pedestals designed for organic use? A tube specifically designed to be penetrable by small arms fire that causes some kind of chain reaction? On the exterior of the Citadel? Really?

Had just edited my post before I saw this.

The Catalyst didn't say anything about synthetics turning up there. So... eh?

Wait, this is the IT thread, shouldn't we be just dismissing the whole thing as dream sequence and moving on with trying to find more evidence for IT rather than dwelling on things we already know to be stupid?

Well, it may not always seem like it, but I usually try extra hard to be objective, so in most cases I carefully choose my words so as not to imply that I wont look at both sides of the story. Other times though, the fact that some people vehemently defend the face-value interpretation and dismiss ours out-of-hand makes me go on a little rant like that...

edit: I'm not meaning to suggest that's what you were doing, but the starbrat quote got me going. :P

Maybe they are shifted out of phase, so it wasn't talking about the place on the Citadel but the shifted place. Would also fit with your "some kind of higher existence". Then Sheps brain manifests the Guardian as the child because the brain tries to make sense of that stuff.

Doing the N7 mission on Cyone, the one that is Firebase Reactor in multiplayer.

Squadmates are talking

Liara: Something terrible happened here...
James: Yeah, I feel like we're being watched...

So yeah, apparently not only does James hear hums in the cargo bay, he can sense nearby Reaper forces.

Is James a Grey-Warden now?

I think in this case James is just a little paranoid, which isn't surprising for a soldier during a war.

What is the explanation for this? He's spent the least amount of time around reapers so he's sensitive to it?

I would link that back to the discussion we had some hundret pages ago :D

But no, as the codex states indoctrination can make the victim feel as being watched. This means, combined with the link I posted some pages ago: at least Liara and Vega are indoctrinated to some extend.

Intruiging suggestion. If that were the case, I would say that would be points in favor of the IT, since I cant imagine many scenarios where stuff playing out in some other plane of existence with starkid firmly embedded in Shepard's head doesnt involve indoctrination. The only possible scenario where it doesnt, in my eyes, would be if the crucible truly "rewrote" the catalyst and made him nice and not prone to indoctrination.

O_o

Yeah, considering we have strong signs that point to IT before the crucible is even connected, I dont think so....

TIM on Thessia implies that Liara knew about the Prothean beacon (or at least the importance of the Temple of Athame) all along and didn't tell Shepard about it.

If you'll notice with the control pedistals, they are perfectly aligned for four-armed use, which would suggest that the Keepers were meant to use them. I find it highly plausible that this device was to be used to open the Citadel Relay for the Reapers, before the Protheans changed the Keeper programming.

It is also highly likely that the Keepers, in form, are as old as the Reapers- perhaps the original species, being use much like Collectors or Husks. Those who are not suitable for the ascention are used for manual labor.

I'll admit that is a plausible possibility, however it raises the question of why it is on the exterior of the Citadel and has never been investigated by organics before. Do the keepers take the light elevator up to that area too? Why couldnt the catalyst fix what was wrong on the Citadel?

Indeed, that is a scary possibility. It's also possible though that if Sovereign was being on the level about them having some kind of higher existence, perhaps the Reapers as we know them are simply the physical manifestations of something... "else".. It would explain a lot.

Reduce a person to what truly differentiates them. What do you get? Their passions, relations, ambitions...

Scale that up. An organization could have these qualities. Many organizations are even self-perpetuating. Civilizations are already thought to go through life cycles. Birth, growth, death, spreading the seeds for new civilizations that follow it...

If meat and electronics can be made so sophisticated that they are capable of thought and self-awareness, why not other systems such as civilizations, or even biospheres? Or even something greater?

Imagine a self perpetuating noosphere on the galactic scale, capable of intelligence and self determination. But as imperceptible and alien to the individual organisms in it as blood cells are to the bodies they serve, and just as capable of communication.

Millions of years, trillions of minds, all manifesting a single force throughout the galaxy. It could seek self improvement. New knowledge, understanding, and perspective generated by the intelligent systems within it.

A force that will not allow a cancer to grow in its body that could consume it from within. A force that regards the civilizations that arise within it no more than we regard the cultures of bacteria that live in our bodies.

Bacteria which exist because we allow it. And end because we demand it.

Order, from chaos.

Ah, interesting.

The beginning of the video could also be very interesting as she explicitly states that she couldn't resist the temptation like TIM.

Honestly it really doesn't take anything to make someone feel paranoid. Go to a mall and drop your keys near someone, you'll see what I mean. Paranoia can be set off by anything.

He could also be taken literally with what he says on Thessia. Liara simply missed it. Alternately, he could be implying that the data that led him there was part of what he managed to grab and keep for himself and not let fall into Shepard's hands (it is said earlier in the game that they only got "most" of the data).
