Gah. Am I the only one who's never seen the Matrix? I just... I just can't even look at Keanu Reeves after Johnny Mnemonic. That was a theatrical equivalent of brain cancer.

Watch the first one. It's quite good. Don't watch 2nd and 3rd ones unless you want to watched this happen:

Sounds familiar.  I wonder how George Lucas figures into this one.

Psh. RGC's logic is infallible! How dare you question his artistic integrity!

Still obnoxious. And whiny.

Yea.. well.. BZZZZZZTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

Or..perhaps his tone and intent is just BEYOND YOUR COMPREHENSION

If TIM is capable of making Shepard shoot Anderson, why can't Harbinger make Shepard do anything? Seems to really imply that the whole sequence is unreal

Are you talking about face value context or IT context?

Face value - Harbinger is not involved
IT - If Harbinger forces Shepard to do too much, he will ruin him. Rapid Indoctrination causes rapid decay and loss of mental faculties.

Lucas is actually Harbinger. He is the true puppet master of all the problems trilogies have had. He would no doubt have tried to influence LoTR, but Peter "Shepard" Jackson was able to fight him off.

Come on now.  Isn't that a little unfair?  To Harbinger?

Because through Benezia and Paul Grayson we know that reaper control is obvious as coming from an external source.

Harbinger would be trying to convince Shepard to submit to indoctrination.

Ergo Harbinger wouldn't be so obvious. Also, in the Synthesis ending Shepard makes a mad dash for the beam. Who knows, maybe Harbinger helped him along.

TIM is controlled by the Reapers thus Shep is controlled by the Reapers.
About Shep dashing: I made some assumption about that some time ago with comparing it to the others:
Control: Shep slowly breaks down, not really able to hold on.
Synthesis: Shep goes into a zealous dash that exhausts his last strength.
Destroy: Shep magically regains his/her strength and willpower and stands strong.

The original Matrix is a good movie in almost every way. The sequels were good mainly for the special effects and directing (though some scenes did have some questionable directing).

Not at all. After Harbinger borderline stalked me in ME2 and kept saying how much he wanted my body and then promptly hits it and quits it in the ending of ME3 without saying so much as a word to me he deserves my ire.

Why do you think Shep walks so slow at the end. Walk of shame, man. Walk of shame.

{edit} I will derail this topic to one of amusement before I pass out, dammit.

I like that. Control and Destroy make obvious sense to me, but I wasnt able to come up with a good reason why Shepard is suddenly able to run towards the Synthesis beam in the IT context.

I interpreted TIM as being more a mental projection from Shepard's mind than Harbinger's puppet image.

If we're gonna allow dreams as evidence*, well, in mine sometimes I do things I don't mean to do. Sometimes even if I'm lucid and aware what's going on is a dream (though that usually triggers collapse of awareness).

Dreams are funny things.

*I'm sure Saren would disapprove.

That gives me an idea that almost makes me wish I were a troll. I'd go into pro-ender/anti-IT topics and say things like "Are we allowing ________ into evidence now? How can I defend IT against this kind of testimony?"

Either way, if it's all a mental projection Shep still thinks TIM is controlled by the Reapers, and TIM controlling Shep would mean in his/her feeble state of mind Shep would allow the Reapers to control him/herself.

I wouldn't say that.... He kind of bought me dinner. Or at least fed me. I definitely got a plate full of steaming BS shoved down my throat by starkid.

The ironic thing is, we -are- accepting dreams as evidence!

Shepard's of course but still...

I was thinking, what is the implications of the dreams Shepard is having? Certainly she has seen much more terrible things than a kid dying. Why this one kid would haunt her so much? This isn't a psychological horror game where these kinds of tricks are used. Using a nightmare in a ME game is just out of place unless it serves some other purpose.

Also, on the third and final dream; There are two Shepards. One who is chasing the kid and the other whom the kid finds at the end; that Shepard looks at you (the other Shepard) then the kid and she burns. Could it signify Shepard finally giving in to indoctrination? In the earlier dreams the kid would bun alone, now Shepard is burning too.

All this has surely been discussing before, I'm just trying to figure things out by myself xD

I doubt this is the place for this, BUT I'm honestly too lazy to search for the proper thread.

In the cutscene of Sword Fleets battle above Earth, ( you know where you have gather just about every fleet from every race, but only get to see Human, Turians, Asari and MAYBE Quarians if you played it right )
...WHY...WHy was there so much emphases on a single human fighter pilot? I mean With all those different races battling the Reapers you would think there would be more than just ... some random human pilot? Am I alone in thinking this, (among all the others "issues" with the ending) this instance strikes me of laziness really on their part.

The kid, though real at first, is just an Avatar for the people Shep couldn't save.

Time for a serious response is serious.

Lot of people interpreted the 3rd ending as something akin to: If you go along with the child willingly and follow him you will both burn. AKA if you listen to the starkid and follow his train of thought you will doom yourself for it.
