Have you guys read the first novel? Saren was a monster. Unless they do crazy things with his character, he would make a horrible squadmate, and wouldnt fit at all into the "vindictive, angry person that tries too hard to be mean and ends up being funny instead" archetype that I was describing.

I'm sorry to say I haven't read any novels *shame*. I've no doubt Saren's a monster, you can tell that relatively clearly from his actions in ME1, even though he's indoctrinated. But, let's not forget Shepard's ability to stop wars by yelling. He/she can even get Saren to see the errors of his way and put a bullet in his own head to stop the Reapers. Hypothetically speaking it could be possible for Shepard to do the same and get Saren to turn "Paragon". Y'know...if he wasn't twice as dead....

Yeah, but I'm still inclined to think there is little chance they could spin his character into a decent squadmate without invalidating a lot of his character development from the book. Speaking of the book, the first three are quite good (I'm about 20% into the third book) and are very easy reading.  They are not very long, and Drew Karpyshyn's writing style goes down easy like a smooth beverage.

There still is a problem however...

let's assume that Bioware really uses the IDT in the EC.
Wouldn't all the people who defended the endings and/or bashed IDT feel incredibly stupid?

Given the way a lot of them acted, I genuinely hate to say this, but if they feel stupid, they probably deserve it. But most of them will probably just go with "they stole it from the fans, it was never their original intent".

It's hard to say "they stole it from the fans!" in a bad way, I mean really if it wasn't their original intent and they "took it" from us, that means they're one of few gaming companies that LISTENS to what their fans want and carries through with it. Bioware, if it wasn't your intent, just take it and work with it, take the blue babies too! We all (Liara romancers) want 'em.

I just want my awesome space marriage with Kaidan

funny how I'm actually a pretty cold person in real life, but when it comes to game romances I turn stupidly romantic

B'awwww... Kaidan and Shepard sittin in a.... wait a minute...

Kaiden and INES sittin in a tree....

Well that's the funny thing, in real life he'd probably annoy me to death

Gotta get some sleep. Good to see people still holding the line. Last few days morale has seemed low. A pretty epic troll fight resulted in some in fighting and we appeared to suffer a blow when Gamble opened his mouth/twit.

Then I remember the past 1800 pages and get a little dopamine boost

Let's see, I haven't read the books either, but I can see how it could work, knowing what I do of Saren;

SAREN: They brought me back Shepard. I was... useful to them. They liked my methods. Despite Soverign's control, my choices were my own.

SHEPARD - Paragon: And it never occured to you that those choices were wrong? Innocent people DIED because of the things you've done.

SAREN: What do I care? They were sacrificed for the greater good of ot -Paragon Interrupt.

SHEPARD: Just shut up and listen a moment. Since the day we met you've been spouting this bull**** of what you do being for the greater good, and yet the only person I ever see benefited by your tactics is yourself.

SAREN: IT WAS NECESSARY! I-

SHEPARD [Waves a finger in Saren's face]: I'm not finished! You claim that you do what you do to save lives, well PROVE IT. Prove to me that you aren't just some self-interested lowlife who only cares about the benefits that his actions can bring him, prove to me that Saren Arterius ever held in him what you could call a "hero".

SAREN: I...

SHEPARD[Walking away]: I'm done.

Renegade Option;

SAREN: They brought me back Shepard. I was... useful to them. They liked my methods. Despite Soverign's control, my choices were my own.

SHEPARD: And it never occured to you that what you did played right into the Reapers' hands?

SAREN: What?

SHEPARD: Civillians killed as collateral damage? Attacking the Citadel? STARTING A WAR? This never occured to you? YOU DIED BECAUSE IT FAILED TO ENTER YOUR MIND BEFORE IT WAS TIME TO PULL THE TRIGGER.

SAREN: Shepard... I..

SHEPARD[Walking away]: I'm done with you, you're a lost cause.

I think most of us are guilt of stupidly romantic when it comes to the ME trilogy ^^;. Hell I'm proud to say I am.

I dont think thats the case for me, but after ME2 it actually did help me realize something about myself. I like my women with flaws (Ashley and Jack). I guess on some level I associate flaws with having an interesting, worthwhile personality that will keep things from getting boring and continually challenge my character, keeping me sharp. I found Liara (especially in the first game) to be far too vanilla and lacking of any personality traits that would keep me mentally and emotionally engaged/interested in her.

On the other hand, Ashley and Jack both had personality quirks and flaws that would constantly keep me thinking and engaged whenever I'd interact with them. What are they going to say next? What are they going to DO next? Not only that, but how can I help them? How can I make their lives better and be proud of the difference I made for them? I was interested. With Liara, she was mostly predictable and agreeable, often even going out of her way to aceed to Shepard's opinions. She was intellectual and attractive, sure, but I dont know if thats enough for me in a mate.

1812 : Napoleon the 1st began his Russian campaign which ended with the Russian retreat.

Napoleon entered Russia with 600 000 men more or less, he left with barely 50 000.

Talk about epic fail :?

It's one thing I loved in the beginning of ME3, picking out a gift for Ashley, first time around I bought it all, figuring I could just bury her in chocolates, roses and her favorite poets, then I discovered  you only get to give her one, so I had to figure out the perfect gift.

The complete Tennyson.

She was surprised I remembered.

Bioware, teaching us more about ourselves than we knew since 2007. Or at least making us think, which is not easy for a video game to impose.

Really? Because on Virmire I got the distinct feeling that he is perfectly willing to share his motivations if the person he is speaking to is one he can see as an equal, like Shepard, rather than merely trying to sway him to his cause. Saren also struck me as being incredibly charismatic, the sort of fellow quite used to getting things done his way. As for being a lone wolf... well I never said he had to be a WILLING squad mate. Survival is a pretty good motivator ( the idea being he's only on Shepard's crew because A he owes him for saving his "life" by vouching for him, and B because anywhere else he goes, he'll be killed, return to Palaven, killed by the Turian Military, return to the Citadel, killed by C-Sec for twice as many reasons as usual, return to the Reapers? Killed for being defective. It's willingness and more desperation to me, mutual survival, which could make for a very interesting dynamic.

You know, I'm still a little confused. Bioware said that "some people will only be a squadmate for one mission". The only example I can think of is Anderson, and why the hell could you enhance his skills, that's like putting all your armor on Jenkins...
