Why didn't both leaked scripts mention the indoctrination of Shepard?

Yes... and EA sports.
That would be too extreme. I don't mind good story-telling.
If you don't like fantasy then you are missing out on some amazing storytelling then.
You do realise that some of the best rpg's from back in the day (Final fantasy, dragonquest, phantasy star) were first inspired by Gary Gygax's D&D rule set right?

Cause they were leaked while the writers were still writing the game. Don't forget Final Hours App.

In fairness, the Autosave function in ME1 was absolutely abysmal, on Xbox at least. But still, 5 hours does seem rather excessive. Unless the engine broke down and he had to get Wrex to push the Mako.

Maybe I misunderstood, but it seemed like what was being implied was that Shepard would take on starchilds agenda and morals "continuing the cycle" (paraphrasing)
Replacing would mean Shepard would retain his own ideas and change course from starchild
But what would be the point for Shepard to control the Reapers if he DIDN'T go down the same path as the Starkid?
Would he eventually realize that the Reapers are neccessary to "cleanse" the universe, like the Starkid claims?
Or would he just use them as his own personal butlers and/or chauffers until the end of time?

Huh, I didnt realize until you quoted me that the forums censor that word.
When did the name of the german troops in WW2 become a word needing censorship?
Last I checked they censored that word in WoW too.
Its a good thing theres no saying about how forgetting history is bad or anything. I'm sure if we dont talk about them then they never existed!
Anyhow, thats the end of my random anti-censorship mini-rant.

I heard about Dungeons & Dragons. But does it impose a fantasy setting or just gameplay mechanics on a game that uses it?

Stat based gaemplay lends itself more to fantasy, but can be transposed to fit any setting.

Yeah, I agree. It is not a derogatory term - it IS the term that describes that particular movement at that time. Lots of internet forums seem to censor that word though - doesn't make sense.
I wonder if you can say Castro on here. I know Ozzie Guillen can't.

It doesn't directly force you to use a fantasy setting, but if you're going to deviate, you will have to make up some of your own rules.

Wizards of the Coast - same group that has the license to D&D - made a complete Star Wars set of rules based on D&D's D20 system.
There were a lot of variances, but the core was the same.

Dude, you should come to Spain... I'm here for a couple of months at the moment, found out this week about a recent case that's surfaced from the Franco dictatorship in the mid-20th century. Basically lots of poor people had babies, and their doctors told them that the babies had died, and then sold the children off to rich buyers who didn't want to have babies the natural way, sales which were as far as I know sanctioned and even brokered by members of the government. So recently a grave site was being built over and they disinterred a load of babies' coffins only to discover that they were empty.
Long story short there's a renowned judge who's big on fighting to just causes (kinda like Harvey Dent, pre-Two-Face) who wanted to look into it and bring those responsible under the dictatorship to justice. But the Spanish government don't want to acknowledge any of the nasty things that happened under Franco's regime, so they've all but exiled this judge and charged him with all sorts in front of the European Court of Justice.
I can't imagine the judge will be convicted of anything given that he's done absolutely nothing wrong, but I was appalled to hear of this level of censorship going on even today in a country as developed and (supposedly) diplomatic as Spain.
Kinda off-topic (kinda?!) but still.

Good. So I don't have to be stuck in games with dwarves, tooth fairies, elves and talking bunnies. That's precisely why I love Mass Effect. It's serious, inspiring stuff.

The Jedi are a combination of Buddhists and Samurai. (And Zen Teachings.)
That's why so many people like Star Wars, because it's familiar to so many people on so many levels. Original ideas are entertaining, but people like the familiar. They like the same old stories, with just a little variance for flavor.

Lay off him. He's entitled to his opinions and doesn't need to justify them as long as he's not being a dick about it (which he isn't). I for one totally understand why he could hate elves. Annoying bastards.

This is why the term speculative fiction was coined to encompass both of em. So often they blend together and merge with other genres like horror, it's become practically impossible and useless to try and fit the neat little labels on these things.
Also, there was a term already in use before that encompassed Star Wars, Trek, Babylon 5, and Mass Effect. It's called Space Opera.
