Good. So I don't have to  be stuck in games with dwarves, tooth fairies, elves and talking bunnies. That's precisely why I love Mass Effect. It's serious, inspiring stuff.

What about in other meduims? You don't like Lord of the Rings? How about Game of Thrones?

Let's say LotR was ok. I've never watched the other show.

Lay off him. He's entitled to his opinions and doesn't need to justify them as long as he's not being a dick about it (which he isn't). I for one totally understand why he could hate elves. Annoying bastards.

I'm not trying to persecute him, I just want to see his point of view on these popular fantasy stories. I see where he's coming from as well, I don't like Narnia for example, but to cast of an entire genre seems, dismissive.

I’ve played pen & paper RPGs for years. Since 1994. The beauty of them is that you can use the things you and ignore what you don’t want. Don’t like a rule? - Change it. It also depends on the style of person running the games – called the DM/GM (Dungeon Master/Game Master).

If you don’t want to have high fantasy (like elves, gnomes, dragons, etc) you can ignore that.

If you wanted to have a Steam Punk flavor you could fairly easily get to that. Like I said above there was a Star Wars game created based on the D20 rules of D&D version 3.0/3.5.

I don’t think it would be too hard to create a set of D20 rules for Mass Effect

Cool cool cool, if you ever get bored you should atleast give the first ep. a view. I understand if you would rather not bother though.

But dam... Game of Thrones is my Favorite show on TV.

I'm still pissed they canceled the Sarah Connor Chronicles though.

I've run some games myself, and a game loosly based in a ME type setting is something I have always wanted to do. SO. MUCH. POTENTIAL.

I watched LotR a long time ago. I didn't quite like the first one but the 2 others were better. More epic.
They even sang Dragostea Din Tei in it if you know what I mean.

Here's where you can call me weird, I liked the Fellowship of the Ring better then the sequels simply because it used the least amount of computer graphics, everything felt very gritty and real compared to the sequels.

I suppose the heavy use of CG was unavoidable, but the fellowship was good at suspending my disbelief.

I GM'd two AMAZING groups playing D6 Star Wars rules (when West End Games owned the license)  One was in highschool and those campaigns/group last 2 years.  Then had a group that played steadily in college almost every Friday for 3 years.  (Fridays because our college had a rule about no drinking 24 hours before an athletic competition so the guys and I needed to fill the time and stay out of trouble.)

Oh I don't know. You'd have had to headbutt them into submission in the first place just to get the leashes on...

Maybe I misunderstood, but it seemed like what was being implied was that Shepard would take on starchilds agenda and morals "continuing the cycle" (paraphrasing)

Replacing would mean Shepard would retain his own ideas and change course from starchild

But what would be the point for Shepard to control the Reapers if he DIDN'T go down the same path as the Starkid?

Would he eventually realize that the Reapers are neccessary to "cleanse" the universe, like the Starkid claims?

Or would he just use them as his own personal butlers and/or chauffers until the end of time?

he would order them to throw themselves into the nearest star. xD

I envy you, I've only played more or less classic fantasy, (with some ancient robots powered by magic). I would LOVE to be a part of a Star Wars, Shadowrun, or anything besdies classic fantasy at this point. Alas, I recently moved so I have to get another group together.

We had a D&D group that wrapped up a nearly 3 year-long set of campaigns set in Forgotten Realms using the Pathfinder rule system.  (kinda like a D&D 3.75  - cause 4.0 sucks)

The group is playing a modified Shadowrun game now.  (i'm taking a little break from pen and paper)

Regarding Merizan's tweet, I hate to say it but I am going to have to stick with my earlier statement that I am not going to put any weight behind what she says. I wont go back on that just because now she happens to say something that can be construed as support for IT.

Besides, what she says can be taken in either context. She could simply be pointing out something obvious about the face-value context, which is that if you want Shepard to survive, you need to pick Destroy, because he gets vaporized in the other two.

Anyone here familiar with my posts knows I am an IT supporter, but I am also objective and look at everything from both sides, and I really dont see what the fuss over her tweet is about....

I'd think that Shep supercedes Reaper Bieber but doesn't endorse his methods.  That would make what happens next extremely open to interpretation though.  I mean Shepard could go on to become guardian or dictator of the galaxy.  Up to him/her really

Yeah, I played with 3.5, 4.0 seemed like they were dumbing down the rules for the WOW generation.

So is it worth it to get some Pathfinder Rule Books then?

Ahh, but is Starwars sci-fi or fantasy? Hard to say IMO.

Star Wars is a Western   Documentary. Duh!  Posted Image

LOL!  You're right.  It is a history lesson.  After all, it happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

It really is, good characters, good story, good writing. Also, it's really "edgy", it's a decidedly adult fantasy.
