I say sequel, why? Because imagine it. It's about 5 years post ending of ME3, Shepard, the only man to have defeated indoctrination, the hero of Earth, the victor who brought the Reaper fleet crashing to it's knees is retired from bebopping about the galaxy has retired...

Shiala would like to have a word with you.

Well, to be fair, Shiala is a Asari, not a man.

On a different note - is it obvious that no new ME3 or IT news/hints/tweets have happened recently?

This thread has been anything BUT IT theory talk for about 10 pages now.

Tweets have been made. But they're all over the place and suspect. We've basically stopped considering them seriously. There are tidbits popping up now and then, but I think most the things that could be discussed have been discussed by this point.

So are we running out of stuff to talk about?  I mean, other than b**ching back and forth with trolls?

I post a huge ass block of text with tons of information and theories, so densly packed together that people pass it over usually as a novel in length and this is running OUT of stuff to discuss?

Sorry, meant no offense.  I will read your mega-post, I promise, just haven't gotten to it yet.

I don't know about you, but I cringe at the thought of ME4. Unless they fix what we have now.

I don't need to kill every reaper, just Harbinger. And leave the relays intact. That's all they need to do to set up a good sequel for me. If they did this then I would even buy an ME mmo.

That would be the only MMO I'd ever buy, probably.  I'm wondering if the next ME game would be a prequel, maybe something set in the First Contact War.  I'd love to see what actually happened, and it would give Bioware the chance to maybe try creating a full blown shooter.  Guns with omni-chainsaws anyone?

I've thought for years that the "next chapter" of ME will be a prequel.  I initially thought it would consist of Shepard in the Elysium war that is mentioned many times, but since Bioware bascially said that ME3 "is the end os Shepard's journey", then you may be right about the First Contact War.  Or maybe we can  play a Krogan in the Rachni war?

And, just IMO, I have absolutely no interest in MMO's.  God, I hope ME doesn't go that way...

Mass Effect without Commander Shepard is a different Mass Effect. I'd rather see ME4 as a post-indoctrination sequel to ME3.

Yeah, me too, but BW did say that Shepard is done.  And we know that BW would never lie about anything....

Actually casey hudson has stated that future ME games will probably take place BEFORE Shepard "adventures" <_<

Well I'm tired of addressing nonsensical assertions. So if you want to argue about how much sense the Catalyst's argument does or does not make, I'm gonna shift the burden on you this time, if you're up for it.

Explain how and why the Catalyst and reapers aren't the very problem they claim to prevent.

Of course, we could just be civil and agree that engaging in this argument is pointless. Neither of us would gain or lose anything by it. We believe what we believe and as long as we don't meet face to face nothing's gonna change that.

So... Iunno, dem trolls, eh?

Yeah, them walls feel like there gonna crush me. But I am gonna get some Pathfinder books now.

And yeah, Fantasy and sci-fi are equally good, I could never choose one over the other.

Nah, walls are easy to deal with, just climb down 'em, I got a pickaxe and some pitons you can borrow.

Also, yes yes yes buy Pathfinder books. Start with the Core rulebook. Pathfinder is more D&D than D&D right now is. It takes the best parts of 3.5, 3.0, and 2nd Ed and mixes them together with a few of the extremely rare good parts of 4.0, and unlike WoTC, Paizo treats it's customers very well, the Golarion setting is VERY rich and generally excellent, and unlike D&D under WoTC, they don't feel they are the end all be all about rules, and rather than making you buy supplements so you can face all suitations, they make you buy supplements because you wanna USE them.

Pathfinder is awesome. Though the first handbook is as big as an old school encylopedia or libary directory.

Arian, I saw the text wall. I partiacularly looked at the end parts on the whole "no bad publicity".  There are exceptionally valid points there and it feels very airtight with what you are trying to get across. Im not too sure about the statement of "no bad publictity" but in this situation it feels true enough as a majority of what you say is in my view actually happening.

I say sequel, why? Because imagine it. It's about 5 years post ending of ME3, Shepard, the only man to have defeated indoctrination, the hero of Earth, the victor who brought the Reaper fleet crashing to it's knees is done bebopping about the galaxy has retired, promoted to the rank of Admiral and leads the First fleet in honor from abord his flagship, the Normandy, the slowly rebuilding council, still fighting off massive pockets of Reaper resistance on each and every planet they take back, finding more and more horrors everywhere they go, Anderson is now the defacto leader of the Alliance military, Hackett has become leader of the new parliament, overseeing the reconstruction of Arcturus station, TIM is still at large, rebuilding his forces for Cerberus to rise again, giving everyone the implication that the new Cerberus is a seperate group from the old. Aria is again re-establishing herself as leader of Omega, Wrex is slowly building the Krogan into a superpower, a major part of galactic society, leading the council to worry they may be bucking for a council seat soon, Thessia slowly re-asserts itself, reeling from the knowledge that their early history is nothing like what it thought, Liara returns to her position as Shadow Broker, shoring up governments as they re establish themselves behind the scenes, Garrus takes a position as the new Primarch of Palaven after Victus retires from the loss of his son,

Sounds like just the sort of Galaxy in need of a new spectre, doesn't it? Dealing with the mess?

Spectre Coats? With cameos of all our favorites and a whole group of new people to get to know. I like it.
I'm off to work. Back in a few hours. Thanks ya'll.

I call people troll when they come in here merely stated people are "indoctrinated" by believing in this theory. Therefore that is an insult. Does that remind you of anyone? It should.. because it is your description. You also come in here stating such nonsense without giving any argument to discuss or back up your stance. Therefore you waste the space in this forum as well as other people's time by doing such things. And you wonder why people call you a troll? You must be mentally ill if you think you aren't one.

There is so much debate and grey spots in the topic but so much proof that it's like sifting through a forest-fire, you never stop. I feel so much pride in the Mass Effect community. Also I would like to say that the idea of Shepard being in a state of growing indoctrination seems to be the most likely. If you piece in some key factors (i.e. The artifact on Eden Prime adapting to different hosts, Object Rho's mass control, Shepard being able to understand the Prothean data when the beacon was inactive, direct interaction with Harbinger and Sovereign, not succumbing to the illusions cast by different Harbinger hosts, etc.) that Shepard's synthetic/Reaper content has been dormant but was activated after his encounter with Harbinger and the memories of those events was changed to make it seem that Shepard was immune to the Reaper's control, despite being under it the whole time. If you have ever read The Hunger Games: Mockingjay you will understand what I'm talking about. It works in the same way that the human mind fills in forgotten thoughts, it brings up a specific memory and then try to associate it with something that never happened. If BioWare were to create an ending that clarifies this then there might very well be an entirely new story in which Shepard survives and must help the galaxy discover the true purpose of the Reapers and how the entire galactic community was placed under these same illusions, perhaps foreshadowing an entirely new threat that looms with in the holes of matter. Feel free to comment on this message as it will surely seem confusing the first time-around. The idea is disturbing and full of risk, but the priizeee...
